Me too! Is anyone else getting adverts for hair loss? I think it’s because I keep searching for “Ginger” so hence my KZbin gets excited 😂

Damn, you make blitz look so easy. Of all the blitz run commentaries on KZbin yours are the most instructive. You instantly see possible continuations that would take me much longer to calculate, IF I even see them.

Nigel Short once played the exchange French (as white) and castled long --for an opposite sides castle attacking game. It was really really interesting. So the exchange French isn't all snoring and snoozing. There are some fun sidelines.

I'm loving his British Grand Prix course. I've studied less than 1/4 of the lines so far, but I'm already winning 5% more of my games against my old nemesis, the Sicilian. He's got some great stuff on there.

I would not say it’s that hard to learn the dutch at lower levels. I got the Chessable course, but use it mostly for reference. d4 players don’t see it often so they don’t know what to do.

I think you should increase the time control to 10 minutes as someone else has said. The descriptions are a bit rushed and you’re also making mistakes that some of your audience around this level can easily see. Naroditsky is playing 10+5 for his current speed run, increasing to 15+10 at higher levels and it works well. The content is still entertaining and educational but I think this would help you to improve it.

If you go on his playlists there's one called "Longer Games" which are all 15+10
@juleslondon3088
@juleslondon3088 2 жыл бұрын
@@peterkukiewicz9217 Thanks for the suggestion. If I recall correctly those games tend to be against much higher rated players, generally 2100+, so the mistakes are a lot more subtle, eg Simon has prepared/memorised better in some opening, finds a strong positional idea due to knowledge of pawn structure or engineers a bad piece for his opponent and plays against that. While they’re interesting I find it much harder to find concrete ideas to learn from in these games.

As a French player (player of the French 😁), I often got this variant (last game) of the exchange. Then I switched to the variation where you bring your Knight to e7 (and later g6 or f5)... Much more fun! (+ long castling and f6) (by the way, is it variant or variation? I used both here because I'm not sure...)
@juleslondon3088
@juleslondon3088 2 жыл бұрын
Variation. Variant is used for stuff like 960, antichess, atomic, horde, racing kings, etc.
@torrawel
@torrawel 2 жыл бұрын
@@juleslondon3088 thanks! In Dutch you can use variant for both (de variant van het Frans & 960 is een variant van schaken). Variatie (equivalent of variation) is never used in the first sentence, but it might be used in the second. If you would say: "een variatie op het Frans", it would mean that it isn't the French anymore, yet something that looks like it... (which is, I guess, similar to what you in English would call a variant then... Right?) (it all sounds quite complicated 😂)
@juleslondon3088
@juleslondon3088 2 жыл бұрын
@@torrawel I guess so. Maybe you should play the Dutch! 😉 If variatie is variation, what’s the Dutch for variety?
@torrawel
@torrawel 2 жыл бұрын
@@juleslondon3088 I try the Dutch now and then, but it usually goes horribly wrong... :) I prefer the KID or QID... variety is variëteit.
