Nice trap in the Dutch. Haven't seen that one before. (The audio cuts off at 20 mins in that very entertaining last game) Thanks for another top notch video Simon.

Great content as usual, shame about the losing the sound at about 21 mins - could kind of follow the arrows for the game but not the analysis afterwards.

Great two games. But it looks like the video was longer, then the audio cut out, so maybe Simon edited it to only the two games with audio. Anyway, thanks for another great speed run. These have helped my game.

Simon I'm a really big fan of yours and enjoy your content. I was hoping if you could possibly play a stream playing primarily the classical french defense? Maybe like a rating climb stream of blacks French defense? I imagine other people would equally enjoy a Dutch defense rating climb stream. Again I thank you for your teachings and lessons. You're amazing and criminally underrated.

In the second game, when he captured the N on e5, you captured the B on f5. If you instead recapture the Ne5 with the d pawn, the Bf5 is still under attack, and so is the Nf6. Am I missing something, or does this win a piece?

2:16 why wouldn’t he take the queen with his knight on C6 thoughts?
@mysteriousmeteor67832 жыл бұрын
because white's bishop could capture black's queen. Simon saved his own queen first by capturing the bishop on f6 knowing that his opponent's queen was going to be lost anyway since it's trapped.

The correct pronunciation is "en preeze" like cheese, not "en pree". Yes, I'm a pedant.
@mysteriousmeteor67832 жыл бұрын
No it isn't. The phrase 'en pris' is derived from French and roughly translates as 'for the taking' in English. 'Pris' is a conjugation of the French verb 'prendre' which means to take. For any word in French that ends with the letter 's', the s is silent and never pronounced. Hence, the correct pronunciation is "en pree".
@yiguanas8122 жыл бұрын
@@mysteriousmeteor6783 Yes, it is. You are right in all you say except for the circumstance that it's spelt "en prise", not "en pris". If I could give a reference here without this comment being deleted, I would. Edit: I think I found a reference which won't be deleted... kzbin.info/www/bejne/iJOue2Zqq5pqg7s

@@yiguanas812 Yeah you're right actually. I checked the reference. I never knew it was spelt 'en prise' with the 'e'. Everyone at my chess club, my coach and basically everyone I know pronounces it as "en pree". I guess we were all mispronouncing it the whole time.
