The point isn’t to award someone based on the colour of their skin. It’s that people of colour don’t get the same opportunities and same amount of Oscar worthy roles written for them as white actors

Rarely (unless it's a big franchise film) are roles written for ANY actor in mind, and to say there is such a thing as writing a "Oscar worthy" role is equally a bit daft.

I encourage you to watch Viola Davis in her interviews talk about how POC struggle in the industry. Not only written for them, but cast in those roles written for them. The lead roles in _The Good Earth_ were written as Chinese characters, but they cast two white people in those roles. They bypassed Anna May Wong and cast Luise Rainer who later won her Best Actress Oscar.

However, there are lot of factors to take into consideration. There will be unconscious biases, political agenda, and other unforeseen circumstances we don't know about...these things happen beyond our control. We just hope for the best outcome.

@@LotsaJelloChannel Both Yeoh and Blanchett deserve a recognition for their amazing performances. However, Blanchett has won twice before, and Michelle Yeoh’s moment is long overdue. I think the time has come to recognise an Asian actress to win the top honour for the first time in history of The Academy. And for these reasons, I would vote for Michelle.

In no way should an actor have an advantage or disadvantage for the color of their skin or gender, and that is exactly how they are trying to solve the problem. At this year's BAFTA awards the nomination were very diverse but the winners at the major film awards were white, this a springboard for some to make a complaint, but as others pointed out that of the case more people if colour should of won their category, which of the winners didn't deserve to have won (and to tell them the decision would of been made on the colour of their skin) oddly none of those critics came back with any replies.

Maybe, just maybe if we quit just adding people of color or sexual preference to be all woke. Instead actually develop a storyline that was already diverse and let the actors act. Years ago there was a Michael Jackson movie or play that was in the news and when the performer was chosen. He didn't meet what the mob wanted and as far as I know it just died on the vine.
