The best thing about Okami is that its characters are almost all based on their own legends and old stories, however loosely. It’s multiple tales of folklore and mythology all rolled into one game if you think about it like that. Every now and then when I watch a let’s play of this game, I learn more about the inspiration behind every little thing because the person playing has the knowledge.

When the hd version came out on the switch, I was VERY happy to learn that the celestial brush could be used via the touch screen. Made the most patience-testing part of the controls SO MUCH easier, and it feels cathartic to actually make the brush strokes with my finger as if I’m actually painting the lines. While the game always looks better on a bigger screen because it displays the beautiful details that much more, I think the brush controls aged very well for the Switch.

I've been dealing with a lot of depression lately (I'm not diagnosed or anything, but have been feeling some of the symptoms every now and again) and listening to this song reminded me that things get better. That just because I might feel worthless and unwanted doesn't mean I am and that sticking through the tough times only makes the good times that come afterwards all the sweeter. I've never played this game (though I do want to get the HD version that's coming out soon) and I have no experience with this level, but that's just the effect this music had on me. Truly amazing.
