Well, he should know. He raised corporate tax from 19 to 25%, froze thresholds until 2028 on income tax, and n.i. froze inheritance tax, cut capital gains tax threshold. Incresed the overall burden of tax by 27 billion.

ITV weatherman Alex Beresford said these fires need three things, fuel, oxygen and ignition. He cited three sources of ignition, sun, lightning or people. He stated most are started by people. Given the mean temperature was 20C (room temperature) then that cannot be a source of ignition. That suggests that the fuel was already there. Wouldn't that be seen as a fire risk and be managed?

All the money is flooding out of the uk. The harsh truth is only people that are a net loss to the country will remain. The top 1% of earners already pay 26% of the direct tax take. So loose the 1% and everyone left behind will struggle. Be very sure that wealth creators are leaving. Not to save money but in order to survive. Politics of envy only fuels this. I’ve personally paid £millions in tax. I have to leave in order to protect my families future

I left a few years ago also, Interestingly enough based on statistics the UK was the country with the most millionaires migrating in 2024 which is pretty crazy considering China has been #1 for many years in a row now. The people that are able to leave have done so already so the middle/working class will suffer the most while the Gov talks about GDP while importing more unskilled workers and pricing out natives out of property etc.

The latest fires in Los Angeles are primarily driven by local weather phenomena like the Santa Ana winds and dry conditions, which are not uniquely caused by global warming. These winds have historically been known to exacerbate fire spread in the region, and the current fires follow a pattern where human activities, including potential arson or negligence, play significant roles in ignition. Additionally, issues like inadequate forest management and urban development in fire-prone areas contribute more directly to the severity and occurrence of these fires than climate change alone.

The problem is the fact that over 50% of people in the UK take out more in benefits than they pay in. No country can survive if the less than 50% of the population paying more in taxes than they take out keep getting hit for more. At some point the less than 50% will revolt and either leave or stop paying in!

After 10 years of Tory misrule according to the NOS UK Debt 2010 was £1,194.3 Billion or 60% GDP by 2023 £2,720.8 Billion or 101% GDP. The numbers speak for themselves, NHS waiting lists at record highs, lower numbers of Police, Armed Forces, and Councils going broke through lack of Government funding. Labour has been in office 6 months & I'll cast my judgement as I always do at the ballot box whether their sucessful
@MCDONALD6969

@SimonSmith-yd6tt just a quick question. How much time do you allow to pass before actually holding the government responsible who are actually in power? Labour made a CHOICE at the budget to take this country into economic decline. Although I'm not remotely surprised. All Labour do is tax & spend other people's money. No sympathy for those voted for Labour as they are the anti growth coalition.

It's OK to have ann objective if you have a plan to achieve it. During the election campaign, we were told Labour has all the plans to achieve their objective of growth in the economy. Now I understand why they didn't want to give out those plans at the time, but we have not heard of any plans that they have since. If you have objectives with no plans then they are simply dreams and will never be achieved.
