I don't understand why there's not a blanket ban on nuts on airplanes. No one is going to die through having to go without nuts for the duration of their flight but the best outcome to an anaphylactic reaction at 40000 feet is an emergency landing for medical treatment and delays for all on board. I have no allergies and have never objected when cabin crew have requested for everyone to avoid eating nuts

@@WhiskeyAlphaPilotno. Ban it on the plane. No need to go further than that. People can live without eating a nut on a plane. My husband has a severe peanut allergy and the women next to him started complaining they couldnt eat their peanuts when it was announced to them there was a passenger on board with a severe allergy. He had to nicely tell them he was sorry but he had the allergy. They changed their tune pretty fast. He wipes his seat and tray down beforehand to avoid touching anything that may have had peanuts beforehand, but you can’t control if someone is eating them next to you and cracking shells making it airborne. Technically, they were right. Cashews aren’t nuts. Nuts are seeds contained within a hard shell. Cashews are classified as drupes, and the cashew “nut” we eat is the seed contained within the fruit. Cashews have the same oil as poison ivy and mangoes. Not saying this makes it any better that they were served. But wonder if the classification issue contributed to the safety breakdown.

Emirates won't remove nuts, as they make up a important component to their middle eastern diet. It's almost like saying don't include dairy in the UK. Nuts are also central to many middle eastern desserts. However, what isn't acceptable is that Jack wasn't able to view the ingredients, or that these weren't made readily available to him. Was his nut allergy advised at booking? Why were no menus handed out? Why would several crew answer no to nuts, when quite clearly this chicken curry has been served many times on this route, is this language barrier issues? So many questions. The crew members wouldn't have wanted to intentionally hurt him, however should have had the confidence to decline serving his this meal until certain of the ingredients. There is an onboard manager that could have easily checked this. Jack, with such a severe allergy, should have checked the ingredients before eating it, especially considering this is the second occasion onboard. When a "SSR" (nut allergy) request is inserted into a passenger's reservation, that information is forwarded to the airline's catering dept that ensures that particular passenger's meal is prepared accordingly. @@Splash-nr8ot so would you advocate for people with allergies to never leave the house? I’ve been on trains where people sat next to me and were eating nuts and I’m severely allergic and asked them if they wouldn’t mind putting them away, they immediately apologised and cared. That’s what decent people do.

@@Splash-nr8ot what would you suggest? Not letting people who are allergic to go outside? People with allergies should be able to live the same way everyone else does. Schools ban nuts from schools when kids have allergies to protect them, are you upset about that too?

@@izziemoss8262 You're putting words in my mouth. I never said allergic people shouldn't go out. But you cannot blanket ban foods on aircraft because everyone is allergic to something or the other.

Maybe he should have read the menu as it was chicken with Kashu nuts

Literally he wasn’t provided with a menu, also asked the cabin crew multiple times. Don’t you find it worrying that the cabin crew don’t know what they’re serving?

He literally said he was given no menu. The staff told him there are no nuts. What else is he supposed to do?

@@peanutpistachio6532I fly multiple times a year on an airline and we are always given a menu. Given they’ve emirates is a major airline he would have been flying in one of the higher classes. He would also have been able to see the onboard menu before he flew so sorry I call BS. Also if it was that “life threatening” how come he had time to give his mate his phone to film him using his epipen(calmly) and then post it all over instagram and TikTok etc. Where as any one else would have been trying to assist. This is a total PR piece of BS
