This is such a loose concept of fitness. I used to just get the reps in, without focusing on the 'intention' behind each move. But this enables you to be creative and convert strict repetition into active playtime. Love it!

Thanks guys. Did the burpee thing during the winter and injured my wrists and elbows. Been playing around with deep squats and some of your easy stuff like bear crawl. I emphasize playing around and not really seriously doing it and have started to feel better. Now you got a way to add that burpee in and I'm game.

I'm 73 and I do Burpees. But the game changer for me was to use an aerobic step. Wide squat, place my hands on the outer edges of the step, step back one leg at a time, shoulders over the step, jump back to a wide squat and stand up. Make sure to hit or go through the wide deep squat before you stand.

Very impressive mobility there Ryan. The ease in which you rolled into a solid plough pose, and then also forward into a deep squat was smooth

Thank you!!! When I do “regular” burpees, I can easily be mistaken for a beached harbor seal. I have always lived with the real fear that Marine Rescue would put me in its ambulance and release me into the Atlantic. Until now! Thanks to this video, Marine Rescue no longer will be at risk of wasting its time and resources. The oceans thank you, too. 😅😂

Also, I prefer to think about the burpee in terms of a hinge and a plank, instead of a squat and a plank. A hinge is a perfectly natural way of getting our hands down to the floor if done correctly, and I think most of the times we are going to hinge instead of squatting when trying to reach for the floor, it's just more intuitive.

As someone doing way too many burpees right now (training for a grappling comp) - getting tired has a certain virtue of its own. But at the same time, I think outside that "doing explosive cardio for a specific purpose" goal, burpees definitely get overused and under-techniqued, and the insistence on number over technique is not a great call.
@gmbfit
@gmbfit Жыл бұрын
I've done my fair share of burpees for grappling as well and... yeah, I agree. I'd rather focus on quality over quantify. How you do anything is how you do everything. :)

I like to do a full backwards shoulder roll to get into the plank. So squat down, roll backwards and do a full shoulder roll, get into the plank, and from there I usually do a standard burpee, ie a push up into a squat en back upright.

Funny i just started incorporating burpees into my daily (mostly daily) routine. They are exhausting, the jump is what gets my quads and by the 3rd set its more like a 1 in hop lol
@matriaxpunk

I think the burpee needs a push up because a burpee is a form of get up, so you should start by lying face down on the ground.

It was just suspicious timing for the video. A few days before I'd started practising burpees but with the aim of being in a solid position at every transition, and stopping once it got sloppy. You must have been feeling that lasy sloppy rep! Hope it wasn't too painful ha

Ideally, you'll address that with either medical care or time to heal and gradual strengthening. Trying to do intense dynamic movements with a torn muscle is not a good idea.
