Great video, I would recommend sealing the work top, save having oil stains in the wood.

Ive used TraeLyx on mine and my wooden garage floor. Its a lacker for livingroom wooden floors (intense use), water based, quick drying and acid and oil repellant 👍 3 layers with slight sanding in between and youre guaranteed stain free 😁 I love the extra matt one so it doesn't shine and reflect and it keeps its woody looks 😊

Do yourself a favor - watch this again at x2 speed and you will see Blake could quite easily pass as the maddest mountain bike rider/ carpenter / presenter out there. AND ITS GREAT!!!!

Thank you for running this series. It is entertaining and it lays the bike cave building process down quite logically. .Blake is an amazing guy. He has many talents as we have seen in many videos and not the least of which is carpentry. He even routers the edges! And he must be a very good family man because his wife brings him tea, cakes and cookies. The cake looks delicious by the way. Ride your bike, build your bike cave and eat cake - what a life.

I would use a hard stain as used on floors. I didn't and as the wood is soft, a few dents and deep scratches have come through.

To Keep that worktop looking fresh, id recommend sealing the surface with polyurethane finish to prevent stains from oil, grease, tea etc.

In my father's shed there was a simple pulley system with a little weight at the wall and a pencil hanging in the middle over the table. When we needed it, just pulled it down, used it then released back up. It was quite handy and never had to look for that damn pencil. It could be a cool addition for your shed too, maybe as an interchangeable version, so you can hang many different kind of tools, depending on what you need often.
@neildaniel82324 жыл бұрын
Pro Tip: Put a piece of frosted perspex over the LED's that downlight the worktop. It'll create a softer light that doesn't create load of little shadows. Far, far better light to work by. Other than that top work!

The bike shop is looking awesome bud. You're a pretty good carpenter and I'm stoked to see it finished. Maybe you can paint your shelves and cabinets in the GMBN colors which would look freaking outstanding. Keep up the hard work and thanks so much for sharing and staying upbeat even though you can't hit the trails. Our trails are open and I'm heading out this morning to ride them and get away from the house for a bit. Stay safe.

This is coming along great! I think it's important in every workshop to have a bench vice (Something that can clamps things). Life can work without it. But so nice when cutting wood, handlebars. Or why not just hold the tea cup.
@wildadventure51014 жыл бұрын
Yes. So agree with you but the problem with me I have to do all my bike stuff of the lawn which is not great like we have 2 large gardens but like some space in sheds but they got like wood and lawn mowers and a toilet and 3 motorbikes. And like in the bike shed there is 6 bikes and if you want to get the other bikes you have to take them all out and there is like only 1foot to move in their. But I so agree with you 💯. But I love to have a work shop. 👍😎🤜🤛🚵♂️. Ps stay safe. 👍

Looking great! Only think ya might do though is either paint or stain/seal the wood. Help it last longer. In my experience if you leave it raw it’s going to soak up any type of solvent or grease you spill on it and it’ll look dingy in a short time. That may already be in the works. Great series though!!

I think you should definitely use pegboard to hang those tools up. Also a hand washing place/station might be a good idea since bike maintenance gets greasy fast.

You need a double plug socket near the work top, you should really move the single one on the wall down lower and make a double one. I love your build videos, who'd have thought you'd be doing all that all those years ago then you used to visit and stay with Sam round our house! Top bombing, keep it up 👌😘

Blake I suggest adding to the floor you can get foam like floor pecies which are cheap and would just make the cave look extra sick
@ravindhanathanpanayan41724 жыл бұрын
Blake, this is already a crazy bike cave!!Double thumbs up!!! :) Doddy might want to do some gmbn tech show from here. Lolz Please, reinforce the led strips with a staple larger than the width of the Led strips cuz when the lights are ON for a long time, the lights gonna get hot resulting the adhesive of the led strips to loosen up or drop.
@cornishcactus4 жыл бұрын
Another cracking vid. I got my arse in gear and sorted out the ring main in my shed over the last few days and gave it a nearly done tidy up. I've still got the big bench to build yet. That gas pipe hidden behind the OSB is still giving me the chills tho. Mark it up somehow, please. x

Only thing missing is an overhang on the worktop, I have a 100mm overhang on my worktop not so much for bike stuff but for DIY and making you can clamp your workpiece onto the edge of the bench whilst you’re working on it. Looks awesome though really top project!
