Looks really nice! The striped fabric really ties in well to the texture of the seat fabric.

Thanks for a very informative video. It really turned out nice. I had to replace all the panels above that Al trim piece back in the 90’s. Seeing you with the patterns brought back memories. I still have them in my garage somewhere. The bottom portion, other than being covered in ugly, outdated material was ok. I already bought the material to experiment with to replace the bottom half of the wall, just figuring out how exactly I want to do it as it will be used elsewhere in the coach wherever the horrible oem fabric is. 76GB

I did the same (partial) job last year, just the lower section behind the dinette. I used the same hardboard but covered it with carpeting that matched the carpeting used throughout the coach. On the opposite wall I used carpet tiles that were a close match but much easier to apply/fit. As that wall was hidden by the divan for the most part, I was happy with the result and of course looks way better than that old water stained mess! The rear bedroom was a bit more challenging though as I had to replace quite a bit of the cabinetry. Good job BTW!

Thanks for the information and encouragement! We have some work to do in the back too so we'll likely do another video on that later.

When you had it all apart I hope you water tested it again for leaks before the final repair !

I have quite a few videos of me tracking down various leaks and we have made some good progress. We had the walls off for few weeks watching for leaks and fixing things we found. Some day I hope to be leak free but for now I think the wall by the dinette is fixed.

Great video thanks, do you think it would be possible to make the upper one out of one piece instead of 4 seperate?
@MrGMCMotorhome8 ай бұрын
Good question, I did 4 pieces because that is what I had a pattern for. I don't see a problem doing 1 piece, it would be a little challenging to get it lined up and cut correctly. I think the window trim would hold it in place well if the material was not too stiff and formed to the curve of the wall well.

I used that same stuff fir my cars door cards and even left pieces outside in the rain and it had very little if any swelling or evidence of being in water.

That is great to hear, my research made me think it would hold up okay but time will tell!

Nice job, looks a ton better. I redid our side with PVC shiplap stuff just in case it ever got wet. I also moved the outlet above the table with some USB outlets. Was there any of the spray foam behind the insulation?
@MrGMCMotorhome2 жыл бұрын
After 45+ years there are lots of wall repairs needed on these things. There was a little stray foam on the bottom half but it was very uneven and didn't fill the space very well. We just added the extra insulation over the top of the spray foam.

Thank you for your time and effort in making these videos. I applaud you and others that take the time. How did you remove the spinning bolts and jack nuts ?

In the future, instead of tracing the pieces onto the final board, cutting it and finding out they are not quite right, trace them to a stiff cardboard, and test fit with them to make sure they are cut right. Especially pieces that are damaged or warped. EDIT: I see you switched to cardboard. ;)

Yes, I learned that the hard way after cutting one piece out of the hard board that didn't fit.

King starboard.... there's nothing else like it. Marine grade product and expensive.

Interesting! I've never heard of that stuff but it looks like it would work well and hold up to moisture.

@@MrGMCMotorhome you can either buy a 4'x8' or by pieces on ebay... I think they make them from 1/4 thick to 1 inch...or more...I bought the 1inch before. Newer boats companies are using it to replace the old teak wood, cabinets doors etc. I love those GMC and yours is another winner.. cheers!
