I will show you Some Of the Symptoms and How to Remove and Replace Brake Light Switch on my GMC 2005 Yukon Denali XL with a 6.0 - 1,600 This also works for 2003 - 2006 GMC Yukon.I will show you how to remove and reinstall your new Brake Light Switch. it's not that complicated. the last quote I got to fix my Brake Light Switch was $190. I did some research and found out you can buy Brake Light Switch for about $16.00. if you like working with your tools this can be a fun project. But if you don't know how to change a tire maybe this repair is out of your league. Don't get me wrong if you have tenacity you'll get it done. You don't have to have a lot of complicated tools and if you watch this video a few times to develop your confidence I'm sure if you've had some basic skills in mechanics you can do this job. I just changed out the power brake booster assembly (hydraulic boost) in my 2005 Tahoe and it was a beast related to getting the nuts off the studs under the dash. I went ahead and decided to replace the stop light switch while I had everything disassembled. Your demonstration is very good. Because I was under there for a long period of time I cheated by taking out my driver side seat.

thank you for explaining how to remove the retaining clip. I spend more time trying to get things like that off then the actual replacement of the part. Seems like that clip and other connectors require one hand to do one action while the other hand has to do another simultaneously and yet you can only get one hand on the part in the first place.

So I replaced my break light switch a few moths ago. Now when I push my breaks the lights come on and then turn off even though I'm still pushing the pedal. Any thoughts?

That rod goes into you brake booster. And then it’s attached to your master cylinder. I’d know bc i just broke my switch pulling the rod out 😭
