I have the Yukon Denali Ultimate and really don't have an issue with the shifter. Also, when slide the console back, you can push the leather top forward, so you still have the armrest for the front passengers. Agree that I love all the buttons, that is why I went with the Yukon Denali Ultimate over the Escalade. Also agree that I love how the screen is integrated into the dash board, unlike a lot of manufactures that are just adding an "ipad" to the dash.

We bought a 23 Yukon Denali with the 6.2L to replace a 16 Denali and I love it. The air ride suspension makes it float and has an amazing ride quality. Love the heads up display, customizable instrument cluster, the seats are very comfortable, and I love the infotainment system. The only drawback is acceleration with the way the transmission is geared. I know its a small thing but I love the electric running boards. The way they are tucked in while underway but then pop out to aid in getting in and out of the vehicle.

@@emikomina there’s a reason I bought the 7 year 72,000 bumper to bumper extended warranty. Not my first rodeo with GMC. But if you look at the full-size SUV category they are all plagued by issues and/or you will spend well north of $100k for one. GMC Yukon seemed to be the best value for the money in our opinion. Considering it’s the same components but now across all 8 cylinders I feel it’s only a matter of when not if when this motor goes. Get the 6.2L and remove the troublesome DOD. Add ported heads, cam and a blower. Makes good power in stock form, crazy power with supercharger. New screens are much better. Push button trans is horrible. A small shifter handle on console is perfect. The 2025 Tahoe/Yukon gets a small column mounted shifter. I love the interior in the Lincoln Nav. The only issues with GM/Chevy and across all there truck lineup, is the HVAC system. Had a 21 version of this vehicle and just outside of the warranty and the AC unit had to be replaced...$2000 bill. As soon as my wife pulled in, they knew exactly what was wrong and how much. They are well aware of this problem, and it's not just GM either. Where I work, we have 40-50 same generation Chevy trucks, and everyone has the same issue, including the ones that came online January 2024 already. Whatever GM did to this generation model is not the same a previous generation. We still have 40+ pre covid generation trucks and they are all fine, or better, and even older trucks are much better. I have owned few Denalis from the previous generation 07 and newer, and never had an issue with any of them...I won't be back till they fix this issue, or but the Extended warranty of your a high mileage user like we are. It will pay for itself. Other than that great trucks. Oh and first the first time this 21 engine blew and was going again with just under 100k, so we ditched it. This could be a one off on the 6.2, as I am sure it's the same motor since 07, and we have put big miles on all previous 6.2, and zero issues... My wife puts about 70-80k a year on them. 5 kids, 4 play traveling hockey, and 1 horse rider, so our XLs got used well, or lived in well.

This is exactly one reason why I never used Consumer Reports in my research for new vehicles. Hi Andrea and Zack, I am in the market for either the Yukon Ultimate or the Escalade Sports Platinum as I have 2 big golden retrievers. My dilemma is whether to get the gas or diesel engine. Zack has said he'd get the diesel for the better mileage which I think is great. Will it be good for me as I live in Prince George, BC. Most of the driving I do is Monday to Friday home to work less than 15km. Weekend drives will be to the grocery store and Costco which will also be less than 15km one way. Will probably make 2 trips in the summer long distance. One to Vancouver for sure and one to Alberta. Is my driving style too short distance for the diesel? Am I asking for trouble in the long run? Should I stick with the gas 6.2? Do you feel that passing power on the freeway is sufficient in the diesel? The difference in price between the diesel and gas when purchased new is negligible. What should I do? Thanks, Walter

The pull buttons for the trans really are a bad idea. Shift knob would have been much better. Stay away from diesel. The govt mandated pollution controls are the nemesis of the system. Clogged DPF, def and recalls often plaque diesel owners. Plus diesel is always more pricey than gas and oil changes are very expensive along with fuel filters. Add in the cost of the diesel option, keep track of all associated expenses and in the end, the diesel is costing more per mile to operate than the gas.

Folks at times will default to the mileage as a decision driver for a vehicle purchase. I don't give it much importance. and here's why,.....GMC rates the Duramax as 21mpg in the city and 27 mpg on highway. GMC rates the 6.2 Gas engine as 14mpg in the city and 18mpg on the highway. Today, 11/24/24, in my town, Premium 91 Octane costs $3.44 and diesel is $3.47. So, the cost to operate a Duramax per mile $0.165 cents per mile in the city and $0.128 cents per mile on the highway. The 6.2 cost to operate is $0.246 cents per mile in the city and $0.191 cents per mile on the highway. To drive a gas 6.2 costs $0.0810 cents per mile more in the city and $0.063 per mile more on the highway. Or you can look at it as you save this much driving the Duramax. Nothing was said about the cost of DEF or the cost of a diesel conditioner additive needed if you live in cold climates. FHWA reports Americans drive approximately 13,500 miles per year. If fuel prices stayed steady for 12 months with the example above. It costs $1,093.50 to drive a 6.2 Gas engine 100% of the time in the city versus the Duramax for an entire year. It costs $850.50 to drive a 6.2 Gas engine 100% of the time on the highway versus the Duramax for an entire year. What you should make your viewers aware regarding a Duramax is this - a 150,000 mile replacement - an estimated replacement cost of $2,973.00 as of 9/9/2023 using a shop rate of $175 per hour. " On a Duramax engine, the belt that typically requires engine removal for replacement is the "wet oil pump belt" located at the rear of the engine, which drives the oil pump and often necessitates significant access to replace properly, sometimes requiring transmission removal as well; this is particularly relevant for the newer 3.0L Duramax engines. Poor Piano Black, so derided, so bullied. Now, the Yukon has tons of Piano Black and not even a mention. Piano Black feels neglected. I say stop Piano Black hate, it’s pretty, and didn’t do anything to you!😂

So no option for the turret on the roof or run flat? pfft All kidding aside i really wish the manufacturers would get serious with hybrids (or related tech) for the larger vehicles to actually improve mileage and not just adding boost power.
