Hi Igor , thank for sharing this nice ideas about Falkbeer counter attach , I would like to comment on the final position , d5 is a mistake, black can easily play Nxd5. White does not dare to take back Qxd5 because there discover check next Bb4+ and white queen is gone

Winning move for the puzzle, Nxd5. If he captures your knight with the queen, then he loses it, because then you play Bb4+, which also unleashes a discovered attack against his queen. No matter how he defends, you can take his queen with your queen
@808JuJu2 жыл бұрын
yep, or if youre playing a higher level opponent that realizes its a queen trap and doesnt take back, you could capture pawn with Nxd5 then if the opponent doent move his bishop you can then check the king with your queen by going queen to Qxa4, also winning the bishop. (depending how they develop)

Excellent video. It is also good for Kings gambit players like myself to understand more theory for my side. I would probably take pawn on D5 with the knight because the knight is protected by a discovered check with bishop B4. (A recurring theme even for the attacking side in the Kings gambit)

a few weeks ago i faced the king's gambit for the 1st time on club level. I played the falkland countergambit. But my opponent was higher rated and she mentioned after the match that she plays it all the time, just to get exciting matches. I still got even out of the opening. One thing I would like to see is how for white to follow through and win with the chosen opening. So many videos deal with how to combat an opening and win, but so few actually follow through. For example, I am looking for the way way to use the falkbeer variation of the kings gambit and while I see lots of ideas in this video, they all involve black taking advantage of all of white's possible moves.

@@lajneen2315 Don't think so. White's play is very dangerous and far from equal. Black needs to walk on an tight rope as white can either use his pawn majority to attack on the Kside or the weak c5 square on the Qside. The position is very difficult to play even for gms.

Because white loses a tempo on development as black would play Nf6 for example. Remember black doesn't have to play Qh4+. I wouldn't be surprised if an engine has white losing (maybe -1 or so) after Qf3. I'm not positive, it's just a gut feeling cus by doing so white gives a slight development advantage over to black.
@christopherpavlicas2 жыл бұрын
I was curious so I just checked Qf3 with Stockfish. It thinks that move is -0.8 so it's just safer to play Nf3, continue with normal development and go from there.

I have TERRIBLE stats atfer 1.e4 e5 2.f4 d5 3.exd5 e4 AND 3...Qxd5 4.Nc3, but the *3...c6 4.dxc6 Nxc6 Falkbeer Nimzowitsch Marshall Counter Gambit* is VICIOUS and has the best stats 1600-2000. I've only faced it 5 times and played 5 different moves winning 3 out of the 5, but I bet the 2 moves that weren't main line I won with confused my opponents. I've been studying it, and it is BRUTAL with a bunch of mates under 15, and in one line, a choice of FOUR different mates. no matter WHAT line you play in the falkbeer, it's a bit of a surprise. I've only faced it about 70 times out of 1,110 games. I play King's Gambit, and win with it, but your Double Danish Gambit video makes me want to try THAT after dismissing it years ago. It seems VERY intuitive for this tactician.
