Batavi Architect Automatic Sports Watch Unboxing

Using crowd-funding, Dutch firm Batavi have produced a lovely automatic sports watch, the Architect, with a choice of three beautiful dials - copper dome, blue steel and walnut wood. On show here is the copper dome version, modelled after the interior of a dome.

I'm Fabio from Manaus - State of Amazonas - Brazil. I also regret this tendency to herd in search almost like an addiction to smart watches over traditional mechanical watches and even wonderful "off line" quartz like Casio's. Computational technological innovations are welcome, but we cannot forget mechanical works of art. However, thanks to the internet and social networks, we see another trend getting stronger: the revaluation of traditional watches, whether mechanical or quartz. We have a growing supply of microbrands at affordable or lesser prices, but people are buying significantly regardless of price. With this I hope for an auspicious future for mechanical/automatic watches.

Thanks. Really pleased with it myself. I've only had it on wrist for about 12 hours and keep having sneaky looks at it. Timekeeping seems good so far - maybe a second per day but won't be sure for a few more hours (1900)

It's pricey considering you can pay just a little more to get swiss made Tissot PRX Powermatic 80 and Tissot dial looks more premium.

If you're after a tapisserie dial and can't afford a Royal Oak, the Tissot PRX is absolutely the way to go. Fantastic value and looks great. I like to support some of these startups / independents - Baltic, AnOrdain, Unimatic - for something a little bit different....

@@GNCandrew I'd love to support microbrand watch with reasonable price.. Just got Phoibos wave master with abalone shell dial for 299USD plus discount it runs well and has ceramic bezel and 300m water resistant.
