Back when I was grinding through Gneisenau, she was my baby. Had a rough start in it, but once I adapted to the guns and the speed, I learned that with proper timing, this ship can split a map wide open. This game is a great example of pretty much everything Gneisenau does, and why I loved it so much.

Gneis is just so much fun. Probably my favorite battlewagon to play, because of that speed, the monster secondaries, and because any teirs higher and you just chum the waters for T10s

This thing is the nimble heavy German knight that I hoped higher tier ships would be. I have both Scharny and Gneisenau but the Gneisenau will always have my heart. You get the highest quality German 15-inch guns, amazing speed, those dagger-point torpedoes, and ridiculous armour. Can’t say how pleased I am with the buffs to her accuracy.

Damn GG, that was an awesome rush into the KGV/Normandie/Montecuccoli. Loved the Gneisenau myself but ofc never had a game like this, did get alot of high damage tanked games anchoring defensive lines and a couple good yolo, the AA was also refreshing, enjoying my Bis a little more overall but the Gneisenau had its own great memes

They nerfed her AA with the AA changes. Full AA build last year in her was the strongest AA in any German BB it was as good as NC. And I was famous for your trick of running down carriers and making them throw their planes at you and she use to eat t9 cvs for lunch as well. My record in her is 56 planes shot down and a dozen games of over 50 planes. Sadly that's gone but recently respected her and went full secondary both sharn and Genni can reach 8 km secondaries which at tier 7 are unrivaled also the 128s get German 1/4 pen so they have been very useful as I always push when the torp threat is low. But that was beautiful flamu I have never gotten 7 kills in a game let alone 8. I have done 6 many times and several were in the Genni. But I do have your damage beat in her 204k here.

Another strength of the Gneisenau is that it's a small battleship and quite difficult to hit. The bow and stern are not very high above the waterline, and it's narrow as well, meaning the only things you can hit easily from the front are the heavily armored gun turrets. It's interesting to note how many of the shots fired at him here just end up flying over the nose of the ship when he turns in.

Ahhh the Gneisenau, a ship born from the question: "What if we took the speed, and maneuverability of a cruiser and built them into this half-finished Bismarck. And why not throw some torpedo's on it while you're at it Klaus." Seriously though, top speed of 32 knots, this thing could outrun almost any other BB in its tier.

Did you mentioned the speed? Its per default a very fast Battleship and with the speed signal its a pleasure to close in on escaping cruisers. Also, you should take the Captain's secondary artillery skill for more range. Once I got her some years ago, it was obvious I would keep her. Also, the AA is pretty damn good, I broke my personal plane kill record several times with her, before I got the Sims :) The Gneisenau is a BEAST, underestimated always.

4:05 -- RE: The Grey Torp Solution and Target Speed; YES, it tells speed, *BUT* it displays a result which is Moment by Moment. Therefore, observing changes such as an increase or decrease in speed is most useful for something like the main battery guns, which don't take too long to get there. The Torp Lead Indicator is showing the angle which, *ALL THINGS REMAINING THE SAME* the torps need to be launched at to hit the target after running for dozens of seconds, perhaps a minute or two.

man i really love gneisenau, best german BB imo, it's so reliably unreliable, once you figure that out it's a complete monster, and a tip for anyone that wants to play it, don't aim for the citadel, aim for the armor belt above the citadel, the bad dispersion will always make your shells land on the citadel for easy kills, your welcome.

If you aim for the citadel, half or more of your shells just land in the water. Like the man said, aim a smidge below the deck and you might get some overpens. Overpens are better than splashes.

This ship, along with Bismarck, is the highlight of the German BB line, even if t does take some getting used to (it and it's sister ship really play like no other ship in the game). Having played some 100 games in the Kurfurst, and having overall ok stats in the entire line, i think with the current state of the game Kurfurst and Freddie just don't cut it in their respected roles and tiers. Too much long range HE spam increased the engagement ranges and clustered ship positions in high tier games and these ships are huge and clumsy targets that eat a lot of raw dmg and get focused first. Tier 7-8 see smaller maps and less potent HE spammers on average, so they get to play like they were meant to - and it's probably the most fun you can have in a BB in this game.

Before the CV rework the Gneisenau was an even bigger AA monster. Full AA spec and div with a CV. The Gneisenau used to have 7.5km long range AA with DPS equal to an Atlanta.

I have secondaries and torp build. She can deal like 230K in a straight run Co-Op. One of the ship i trusted when theres event with damage, torp hit, also secondaries hit requirement. If torp hit isnt there, Lyon is a better brawler. Whether if she must brawl or not. My Lyon also secondaries build. Accuracy, well she have a lot of guns.

If CV point at you, you should do 1) Looking for strong AA CA/BB around you and don’t stay so far from them, never stay alone 2) Kite, head on enemy rocket plane and when they are very close and going to drop, you turn your ship very sharp and quick Make the most benefits from having good engine and sharp turn shift This is the guide from me who play both dd and cv, so this might help

@@pacharaponification But the problem isn't only the damage they are causing rather they keep spotting you so you are getting targeted by every average or higher player in the game!! The worse part they are getting no punishment for their constant plane spamming in any way because of infinite plane nonsense and also the new fighter system is a total joke so no help comes from there neither, i have a Kidd which has one of the best DD AA in the game but even in a Kidd im struggling due CVs keep sending sorties one of another and even if i kill most of planes without serious damage a cruiser ambushes me as they easily kept tracking me thanks to their CV!! Seriously infinite plane nonsense must change ASAP and they should have limited number of sorties similar to consumables...

Ggoddkkiller It is not that easy to respawn plane and that’s why I tell you to stick with CA or AA CL nearby to prevent them from putting fighter on you And IF they keep spotting you all the game that mean you’re making huge profits for your team cuz when cv spot only one ship It mean your whole team can play easier You just dodge and dodge and dodge but finally your team will win, It might not fun for you but your team got a lot benefits

Gneisenau was always my favourite german BB. This ship allows you to do what normally should be a cruisers job. Bißmarck after it was a huge disappointment. Yeah, you get 2 more guns and better secondaries, but with the much harder opponents you get, thats just not nearly enough.

I hated the Gneisenau. The grind to the Bismarck was awful and I could not wait to sell that ship. Scharnhorst is so much better than Gneisenau. But, Bismarck is one of my most favorite ships in the game. The only ship I've ever gotten a Kraken with.

My average damage with Gneis is somewhat lower than your score. What is an average game for you? I am rarely top tier in Gneis, and when I am not I am pretty much on fire continuously, or tier 9 bbs maul me from any angle. I have not found it to be a pleasant ship to play. Does this ship change fundamentally with only a 10 pt captain? The B rush was exhilarating.

as a nerdy nerd, hobby-gamer, useless gamer-loser. I love the Gneisenau. Yes the secondaries are not worth mention and the turrets are easy to destroy, and jep troll guns, ( It's like pointing your guns, messure and messure again and again aaaand fire okay one overpenetration the rest missed). But like I said, as a hobby-player, I love the Gneisenau, it's an opportunity chaser. When there is an open space, hop in and get near to the ships, fire, use torpedos and run away, turn and search for the next opportunity. And if you're in trouble, thanks to your torpedos and the turtleneck amour, you survive and sink someone. And even, it's a real good ship, for all of you, I managed to get it sunk. Yeah, that's me, aimless and aboslutely random but happy. 🤣🤣🤣

@@Gundolf300 it's the "battle bridge" it's heavily armored and if you can get a citadel I'm not sure, but you can have bounces off it onto the top of the citadel which can be a lot easier than a straight hit on the belt here is a gif of an example
