HOW TO DUO Budget Nex Guide (OSRS)

With all the new changes coming into the game since I made my last guide, I figured it was time for an update. I found this new snazzy item: Mixed Hide. It's incredibly good for budget setups in multiple places, including NEX. Mixed Hide now replaces Karils+Bandos/melee setups previous in the other guides. This allows you to heavily stack supplies and still do outrageous amounts of damage compared to even Bandos. Duo Nex IS still very hard and will take some learning, if it's not working for you, try Trio and work your way down until you get comfortable with the mechanics.
In this video I go over everything more in-depth and show TWO kills, one that went horribly wrong and Hedron/Phaspher had to TP out, and one where we completely smashed Nex.
If you want my radius markers, tiles, and what not for Nex, go to Twitch chat and do !nexradius and !nextiles. These are an absolute must when learning and getting the hang of resets.
DO NOT RANGE CAMP. IT'S BAD. It's 35% worse at MINIMUM than fanging Nex. She is most weak to STAB. USE YOUR STICK. I'll be posting a Max setup guide/run over soon after this one, showing how the meta has changed now that Nex is weak to crossbows. Voidwaker is unfortunately in the bin.

32:34 another tip is if you know you're going to be stuck in the contain this (you're frozen, or you're under her and don't have time to get out) get pray range up. It will half the damage. Same thing if your teammates are unable to free you from ice prison, pray range works there too. Also 33:28 if Nex's next special is ice prison, you want to stay in a 2 tile range from your teammate. Glacies is aggro on Phaspher and Glacies can freeze you in place with ice barrage. If Gnomonkey get's Ice Prison'd Phaspher wouldn't be able to run and free him.

Hi! We can kill Nex a few times but we're not consistent. We don't use blowpipe on our setup, is that a huge dps lost compared to using ZCB for guardians and reavers? Thank you in advance! Yes, it's a huge dps loss to use ZCB on Reavers. You should BP/Tbow them. Also you absolutely need Feros gloves, not just camping Barrows. We have an FAQ section in our new nex finder discord (in the main discord). Highly suggest peaking at that and asking questions there!

Also I commented about eclipse moon possibly being better than mixed hide earlier, to which someone responded that the eclipse moon doesn't actually get a max hit vs the mixed dhide which is true, however when I DPS calc it it looks like the eclipse moon still better dps. Pretty sure it has to do with the minimum hitspat of fang with eclispe moon being 1 higher than that with mixed hide. It's the extra minimum hitsplat that overrides the lack of stab bonus. Also mixed hide has terrible defense stats lol. Eclipse moon also has more range attack so it's better for minions and I believe Nex is crush which eclipse moon also has a decent amount of. Even if eclipse moon was worse melee dps I think the added bonuses of Eclipse moon would make up for it.

Nex IS very easy if you want to waste resources and be inefficient. But being efficient makes you a better PVMer hands down making harder fights easy imo. Great guide btw!!

The jist is that if you are learning Mixed hide replaces Bandos/Masori in return you get unlimited supplies for similar DPS. Karils dead content now at Nex, mixed hide better

Tbow is the best compared to the other Mega rares. It's used in all three raids. Scythe is the least useful

BofA is useless if you have tbow and BiS nowhere. ZCB is extremely useful but it's a spec weapon, not a mega rare. Tbow is BiS at over 10 locations. Shadow is good for TOA and yes it's used at CoX but tbow is more useful and impactful. Tbow is useful almost everywhere.

A middle level Nex build and farm Nex until you can afford everything. My duo partner made 3b very quickly at Nex. If you really don't want to do Nex then ToA is 2nd BIS, and then Colosseum if you can farm it effectively. Tbow is the most versatile option if you want to do a mix of content.

You either learn the duo strats in a bigger team or you get another learner and duo practice the boss for hours on end. It took me and my friend a lot of tries and hours of practice just to get 1 duo kc. But you'll learn over time and get upgrades. It becomes easier of course. Biggest thing to do is not get hit by specials.

If anyone is looking into learning trios there is some differences in terms of max efficiency (4:00-5:00min kcs) and for helping with securing good times in budget gear: - Blood phase stalling reavers, standing under nex for 9 ticks when tanking will guarantee 1 set reavers and sometimes 0 sets, this can save minutes of time and is the biggest difference between bad and good nex teams in trio, just dont stand under too long - The only other phase you stall on is when meleeing p2, less damage to team and more time to be meleeing some other cool things I dont see mentioned often: - On blood phase cruor, if tanking nex stand where gnome stands at 22:00, this makes her pull up to the altar where you can reset her if tbowing, less heals from her autos. You can also drag her to altar at the start of ice phase to be able to get specs back - You can do the above on other phases too, stand under her when killing minions to reduce her damage, step out near the end of minion so she isnt in the middle of the map at the start of the next phase - its possible to stall nex during reavers and damage reavers, if you can do fast switches you can do this without losing ticks and still fanging nex - If you're the umbra tank, wait for her to not agro you before stepping outside of her radius, this often wipes teams as she runs at you and switches target near umbra - Nex is invulnerable to damage after a minion dies until the minions projectile reaches nex, use their projectile to guarantee you never lose a tick p1 or any other phase - If you have death charge you can tag a reaver running over to cruor and transitioning to ice phase you will get a death charge proc when it dies

Stalling in trio is worse DPS especially after crossbow weakness (I never calced before change). Max range crossbow vs. max melee is 22% worse dps, so 3 crossbows is significantly better than 2 fangs. Stalling is absolutely never worth the tick loss, purely desperation tactics. You can stall a maximum of 5 ticks to not risk a reset. Her reset tick timer is 5-7, but definitely worth doing when you can, blowpipe sometimes doesn't allow this due to range. -We didn't drag her to altar on blood/ice phase because we were blowpiping the minions, and without range you shouldn't bother reset spamming. In my next Max eff Nex Guide (which will go up in around a week?), we do indeed use T-Bow and constantly reset her to reduce damage. - Phaspher accidently dragged and I showed how to fix it on Shadow Phase, you are right, this absolutely can RIP a run. - Tagging reaver for death charge is likely worth if you are using pipe for just 1 shot, but not if using tbow for 5t loss unless you can do it running up to cruor or something.

I forgot it would have changed now yeah and stalling probably isn't worth it, failing mp2 dps before often led to losing time to the non-stop 0's range hitsplats so that will be lessened now. MP2 stalls were a bit variable before however, if its shadow first you dont have to stall much at all, and you can do less or more depending on hp remaining . Stalling reavers is strong though I promise Tbow cruor resets is something ive only seen in your duo vids but nexxing with 200+ people i've seen maybe 5 that know it applies to any scale, very cool tech and you can do it to help people who don't know it also, ice phase near altar is strong Tagging reaver yes is when out of tbowing range of cruor, it depends where nex is really, if ffa you can steal peoples death charge too when they tag if you're feeling devious and mvp scumming

nex is only worth while if doing 2-3 man a kc at a time somehow all 2800kc (1 vamb 2 hilts) i have all my drops came from mass world i got a dupe hilt at 1700kc back to back (majority of my kc are 3-5man) i rage quit and went back to toa. nex is such a scam if you go dry its terrible.

@@SellingPotatoess i know but for me its better to grind for a shadow then go dry at nex 1700kc like me to get a dupe hilt. i did almost 3k kc and got 2 hilts and a pair of vambs if i had put in the same effort into toa 400-500s i would have pulled at least 1 staff thats why i say that unless you do duo nex with good team mate who is ready to grind hardcore daily for 4-8 hours a day if you dont have that then solo toa is better imo

@@joeyschmidt7546 idk bro, at the end of the day its just rng, you never really know when youre gonna get a drop. Toa is definitely one of those places where you can go dry for ages, and it can be very frustrating. I got my first staff at 72 purples. Not saying, and definitely not hoping that you will go as dry as me, but its still very possible. If i were you id prolly keep grinding 5 or 3 man nex till i get a drop, and then probably transition to toa. But like i said, its all rng. Maybe you will get multiple staffs before even hitting 24 purps

@@joeyschmidt7546 also if you have done alot of mass world nex kc, its alot less profitable. When it comes to nex, its better to look at the amount of nihil shards you have in your collection log and divide by 400, thats a better indicator of how many drops you should have gotten. So for example 1200 nihil shards in your collection log would roughly equal 3 drops

I do think you shit on range camp a little too hard, even in duo being able to rely on bolt procs even when brewed down is kinda nice. I also do believe that guy that said he never got a nex duo longer than 10 minutes since even best case scenario for fang is 30% more dps so your 7 minute fang duo is actually about 30% faster. Also not to mention range camping for learners who aren't as good at switching is the best way to get into nex.

there is always one person coping about this. why on earth are you brewed down for so long that relying on proc bolts is being relied on so hard? just use the better and cheaper weapon & learn the boss

i liked it for learning, but that was in small teams, not duos. but melee is so much nicer, blood fury, voidwaker and your weapon actually hitting. unlike crossbows which miss most shots.

@@colonian83 Well zcb spec is about as good as voidwaker spec and while melee does have blood fury it also loses out on a lot of brews. Crossbow does miss but ruby bolt procs occur a set 6.6% of the time no matter what.

@@Mr_G_VGC Never said it was good just not deserving of as much hate when it's honestly just an easier way to kill Nex. You do actually spend a decent amount of time brewed down p5 in duo which can be especially difficult for newer players.
