I'd personally rank cattail just a smidge higher, but overall this is a pretty good list. I definitely agree on cob cannon. it has impressive damage, sure, but it's cost, setup, and slow recharge make it hell on earth to actually plant. Not to mention you can't even protect it with pumpkins. Also, this might just be me, but when playing on mobile, it's really easy to accidentally waste your shot and fire into the back lane instead. Also, twin sunflower and winter melon are great, I bring them into almost every level I play, same goes for cattail whenever the level involves water.

@@scootermcpeanuts6699 oh god yeah it’s really easy to blow your shot with Cob Cannon on iOS. 660nj recently did a comparison of Cob and Banana Launcher, and yeah more reasons why Banana is better (I think he could have a potential issue with that too but not nearly as bad as Cob Cannon)

Cattail’s thing is that it’s a all lanes pea shooter for 150 sun, that’s why it’s so good in survival mode or challenge runs

Gold magnet is helpful if you can spare the space in later levels of survival endless. Since he could get coins from everywhere, he could be planted in the back and is not dependant on being near the coins.

It can prevent the problem when there is too much coins on a cob cannon,preventing you from shooting it,which is pretty unlikely

My list 9. Gold magnet: Does NOTHING to help your plants or effect the zombies. 8. Sunflower: Good plant to save space in late game, but gets over shined by the other plants. 7. Imitater: Make it so you can place another plant that has slow recharge, but is not really useful in late game. 6. Cob canon: Very good for crowd control, but very hard to keep alive. Just use Cherry bombs, and Doom shrooms. 5. Cattail: Good plant that has homing, but struggled with large groups. Only use this plant for Balloon zombies, you only need 2. 4:Gloom: good damage per second for a up close plant, but it falls to instant kill zombies. Put pumpkins around them obviously. 3: Gatling pea: Good plant that saves space that is good with Torchwood with the downside of unfreezing zombies. 2. Spike rock: good for stalling gargantuars while damaging them but can only take three hits from them, good plant nonetheless. 1. Winter melon: Braindead plant that slows down every zombie and dealing high damage, easy 1st place. This list is referencing endless due to most of the plants being unlocked when you’re done with story mode.

My list: 9)gold magnet(nothing more to say) 8)cob canon(really well lets do math so kernel pult costs 100 sun and he must be planted on two of them so that is 200 and the big jall costs 500 sun and on roof/watter that is 50 sun more so he is so uneccecry expencive but he can be used in endless zones and is usefull unlike Gold magnet) 7)imitator(ok ok bit higher then cob canon but at least you can imitate plants that have slow recharge) 6)gloom shroom(dispite being number six he is a cheaser in last stand having to spend 200 sun ait that problomatic in day levels plus he is stronger then fume shroom) 5)gatling pea(seems ods but i don't use him because repeater and tochwood combo is generly better) 4)cattail(well hey we got better version of cactus ngl this is alsow my faforite plant shore it targets a random zombie but if there are balloon zombies it will attack them first(well pop the balloons)over all nice plant to have) 3)Twin sun flower(well it gives 50 sun that is nice) 2)spike rock(a garg staller who is useless on roof) 1)winter melon(all that you said with a sneeky detail he does more damage then melon pult)

Imitater is good for night levels or fog levels since you can either double the sea shrooms which usually suck due to low recharge but with 2 of them you can have them solo the pool or puff shrooms which makes the spammability of them even easier or as sun shrooms allowing you to plant them faster (if you are planting them faster than the recharge) which can make your sun production almost as good as daytime

@@james2be916 yea, given that you can still plant on it. I had watch a vid of someone beating survival roof with only one lane via 1st lane. All he did is to place 3 cob Cannons, a garlic and two gloom shrooms. With pumpkins for extra protection

This one would be tough to make a list since some plants are viable and deserve to be in the tie. 1) Winter-melon: Whether it was a roof level or elsewhere, it's awesome. It's like a mix of melon-pult and snow pea hence better advantage and it can defeat screendoor zombie and ladder zombie right away. I recommend using it in survival (any level) 2) Gatling pea: One lane shoot but he's still solid because he can shoot 4 peas at once. He and torchwood can make a mighty team, use that combo in survival (any level). 3) Spikerock: An enhanced version of spikeweed, he can survive zomboni and gargantuar. Tall-nut + spikewock combo is awesome in day levels. 4) Gloom-shroom: Way better than phat beet even if he was meant to be for close range. Fume-shroom may be better but the former is still worth it. Remember to plant pumpkin on him and tall-nut in front of him to keep him longer. 5) Twin sunflower: While sunflower is fair enough, this plant is still worth it in late game especially survival hard when you need more sun. One column should be enough to get things done. 6) Cob cannon: He may be strong but the requirements seem hassling (200 sun for 2 kernel-pults, 500 sun, hence the 700 sun total in any levels, 750 sun when it comes to roof levels as 2 flower pots are needed). At least, he's still worth it in survival (any level). 7) Cattail: Sorry to underestimate him, I know he's cute and viable and he can pop balloon zombies but he's limited to pool and fog levels. The more zombies show up, the less viable he will become unless you bring pumpkin. 8) Imitater: He should have been in top 5, he can help remedy the long recharge and use more plants but you'll be less likely to need him in late game. Too bad, you can't use the imitated upgrades. 9) Gold magnet: Useless since it can't attack or attract any metal items, so magnet-shroom is way better. Use it for farming coins in survival endless only, do I need to say more ?

nah gatling pea kinda overrated, his dmg is good but slow recharge and expensive while only atk 1 lane, repeater is enough, unless u are an endless survival player then galting pea has very limited uses, gloom-shroom is more versatile(gloom>gatling pea) and cat tail also bad agaisnt group of zombie and limited only in pool, still a good early def plant, high range and powercrept catus, also 1 of the best plant in zombotany and other minigames(cat tail also>gatling pea)

@@fansim6110 also while gloom small range makes it reliant on pumpkin it's ludricous power more than makes up for this you can either use gloomwalk where you use garlic to divert zombies into other lanes for the gloom shroom to kill or gloomwall where pumpkin protects the gloom shroom the only real disadvantage of it other than the range is it takes up three seed slots in day levels also keep in mind that he can still attack backwards so he can counter diggers imps thrown by gargs and countering jumping zombies like pogo pole vaulter and dolphin riders

@@GNVS300 ye, I don’t even know if I’m gonna use the feature that much but like yourself, I hate the octopus zombie so it’s best to be prepared, also, chard guard apparently can fling zombies twice as far at level 5 and stun ion can poison zombies at level 5 so despite the hot potato, I’m gonna continue grinding till they are all level 5 and my pepper pult is level 8, because, it always feels so good getting a price drop on a plant, even if the drop itself is unnoticeable such as early banana launcher levels

I'd complain about your placement of the gloom Shroom especially compared to your opinion on the bok choy in pvz 2, but honestly I don't think that matters al too much But what I HAVE to comment on is the placement of the cattail. Especially with it being under the gatling pea. The gatling pea is far more expensive despite only hitting one lane of zombies, and especially considering it only hits one target, meanwhile for a similar price you could place a winter melon to chill 3 rows at once and do good single target damage. The gatling pea has synergy with the torchwood like any pea, but thats both an added 175 sun cost for a plant that lacks in durability and prevents the usage of chilling plants, meaning it lacks synergy with some of the games most useful plants. If you're gonna go through all that trouble, honestly, the garlic would be better. Meanwhile the cattail not only synergies well with other plants, it not only does the cactus' job better, it not only hits every row for 2 a shot, but it flat out solos many pool levels and minigames, even without sun producers for some. All that for a far lower cost than a gatling pea. Anyway, that's all

Cattail kinda sucks against groups of zombies and will often get eaten up by ambush zombies in the pool so when final wave comes cattail spam will lose or do horribly

Even worse in endless, 4 cob cannons (unless your using it on the water lanes too which is 6). 1st cob cannon: 200 + 500 2nd cob cannon: 200 + 550 3rd cob cannon: 200 + 600 4th cob cannon: 200 + 650 In total: 2900 and if even one dies, you have to pay up an extra 900 sun.

Mine: 9. gold magnet:surprisingly it has one use,just to prevent too much coins from spawning on cob cannons making it unshootable(really unlikely) 8.imitater:it can be used on slow recharge plants,like ice shroom,doom shroom,which is kinda good,but compared to others,this one is bad 7.twin sunflower:it can generate 2 suns,saving space,which is useful in survival endless,also perfect for sun production,but just not that good compared to others 6.spikerock:it is a really good plant on stalling both zomboni and gargantaurs,giving you extra time to kill them,it is also great on killing basic zombies,but it's recharge is just too long 5.galting pea:it can be useful on dealing damages to zombies,but the problem is it can't stand huge groups of zombies,and it can easily die to 3-4 gargs which will often happen in late survival endless 4.cattail:it is a great plant on early defense,but it can die to huge groups of zombies easily 3.cob cannon:80% of the guides for survival endless are with cob cannons,but it can't be "pumpkined",and despite being the hugest plant,this "car" has a really low hp,which makes this plant challenging to survive from waves of gargs,it can also be a challenge to prevent zombies from eating them 2.gloom shroom:trust me,this plant is a fun plant to use,just use pumpkin and most of the zombies can't eat it up,and even without pumpkin it can kill a basic zombie in no time(if the zombie is in another lane then he can solo a conehead) What makes this truly useful is it deals group damage unlike galting pea,so all you need to do is just spam them and all zombies weaker than football will die(not even football can survive) 1.winter melon:it SLOWS groups of zombies and deals high damage to them,this is absolutely insane,just don't use it with torchwood and every zombies except for zombonis will be slowed down by 50%,that extra time can let you dominate the whole survival already

A lot of comments are doing their own rankings so I’ll give it a shot as well. Bear in mind, this is heavily opinion based. 9: Gold magnet, our lord and savior, unrivaled in all aspects, we are all lucky to be graced with its prowess. 8: cob canon, while its damage output is absurd, the sun cost, recharge, and the space it takes up on the board are all serious drawbacks, not to mention you can’t protect them with pumpkins. On IOS, it’s also really easy to accidentally waste your shot and fire into the back lane when you’re trying to collect sun. While a lot of people like this plant, it’s one I never find myself using. 7: imitater, I really wish it was compatible with upgrade plants, as they have painfully long recharge timers and a fix for that would be super useful, but as it is, I, once again, barely find myself using it. It does still have a few uses though, most notably for powerful insta-kills like cherry bomb and especially doom shroom, it’s also pretty much required to get the “shooting stars” achievement. 6: gloom shroom, we’re moving into the more useful plants now, but gloom shroom is a fairly situational plant, and requires a lot to set up, usually requiring a coffee bean and some sort of defense plant. It is pretty good when used with the garlic, however. 5: spikerock, can dispatch low health zombies fairly well, counters zombonis, one of the most annoying zombie types in the game due to their immunity to the chilling effect, and can stall gargantuars for a decent amount of time. Their low cost WOULD be a blessing if it weren’t for their incredibly slow recharge, though. Most upgrade plants have slow recharge, but it’s the most noticeable with this plant. Still, fairly useful especially in zombotany. 4: Gatling pea, this plant is undoubtedly very useful with its high damage output, especially when used with torchwood, but I personally prefer using the chill debuff over the added strength of flaming peas. This is very much a biased placement, but it’s a list based on opinions, of course it’s gonna be biased. 3: twin sunflower, not much to say here, very useful for setting up more high cost upgrade plants while being one of the cheaper upgrade plants as well. I use this one in pretty much every level that isn’t at night. 2: winter melon, it would feel a little cheap putting him at the top, but this is a plant I use in practically every level I go into. The power of a melon pull combined with the chill debuff is a great combination, the fact that it’s a lobber plant also allows it to deal with zombies like screen door easily. 1: cattail, sure, it’s not objectively the best of the upgrade plants, but I love it for a variety of reasons. First and foremost, its ability to shoot anything anywhere on the lawn is extremely useful, especially during the early game. It also counters balloon and digger zombies easily, making it so you don’t have to use the mostly redundant split pea or cactus. Also, this isn’t related to gameplay, but it’s almanac entry is funny.

Zoybean is s+ tier, it sends out plant zombie that acts as a mobile defense, also at high levels it can tank a ton of damage, just a better caulipower/ hypnoshroom

*My personal list* *9 Gold Magent:* It can't attack, nor stall zombies. It's only real use is with marigolds for easy coin farming. *8 Gatling Pea:* I get that a lot of people love this plant, but I personally have never seen any use for it. It costs 450 total sun for it, but I have to use Torchwood in order to maximize it's effectiveness, especially against larger groups of zombies, costing 625 sun total. I put it so low because it's just outclassed by Winter Melon in almost all circumstances, costing only 50 more sun total, without needing another 175 sun and lawn space to maximize it's effectiveness. *7 Imitater:* This plant is definitely a useful one, but certainly not a needed one. I mostly use it on Potato Mine for stocking up sun early on, and sometimes Ice Shroom for stalling groups of zombies twice as often. *6 Twin Sunflower:* This ones falls under the same category as the Imitater of definitely being useful, but not necessary. It's only really good on longer adventure levels, and survival level. It's especially lackluster in survival endless, where you can only place 4 or 5 before the price gets ao high that you lose more than you gain from it. I only keep around 1 in survival endless for constant sun production for instant use plants. *5 Cattail:* It's the best against balloon zombies and really helpful early on in levels due to being able to hit every lane. Where it falls off in power is that it's restricted to the pool, and is almost useless against large groups of zombies. At a certain point, it just turns into a less effective Repeater, and can't even be buffed by Torchwood either. It's only saving grace at a certain point, is that it can deal with balloon zombies. *4 Spikerock:* It's actually a very useful plant that I never see used often. It can get rid of 9 Zombonis, and, more importantly, can stall 9 hits from Gargantuars, allowing more time to kill them in tough spots. Not too mention it's usefulness when combined with Wall-nut, Tall-Nut, and Pumpkin against most other types of zombies for maximizing damage against groups of them. *3 Cob Cannon:* Sure it may not be useful in most levels, but there's a reason why this beauty is used in 90% of survival endless strategies, and one of three key plants to the strategy I use. Cob Cannon is effectively an instant use plant you need only pay for once, you'll only ever really need 4 of these to be effective. They are preferable on the back columns of the pool, where every zombie type cannot reach them, when paired with right set-up. When used this way and paired with Cherry Bomb and Doom Shroom, can massively reduce the effective cooldown, maintain high damage output, all while maintaining good defense on the rest of the lawn. *2 Gloom Shroom:* The second key plant to the survival endless strategy I use. It of course, can be used with the "Gloomwalk" strategy, where you use garlics to force zombies into adjacent lanes to force out ludicrously high damage and defense. But that strategy falls short when against Zombonis and Gargantuars. But on pool levels, you can place them on the 7th, 8th, and 9th column of the pool rows, and 4th, 5th, and 6th columns of the adjacent land rows. And when combined with Winter Melons, Cob Cannons, and instant uses, even a Giga Garg will be absolutely eviscerated. *1 Winter Melon:* The final key plant for the survival endless strategy I use; where do I begin on this bad boy? It has high damage, slows groups of zombies, and looks good doing it. It's a plant that pretty much has no weaknesses, with Zambonis being the only real one, but even they get demolished quickly due to the high damage of the blue prince. I don't really see any level, any scenario where this plant is not good. I think Crazy Dave definitely shows off how crazy he is by selling it at just 10,000 coins. Even at a price of 500,000 coins, it would still be worth it.

Gold Magnet is even worse on Xbox 360 and PS3. On those versions, the crosshair/cursor thing (whatever on Earth you call it) basically functions like a short-range Gold Magnet to attract coins and suns. And you have it from the start, as you literally need it to operate the game. It also makes Stinky the Snail pretty much useless in the Zen Garden, short of AFKing in there to build up coins.

i actually did a grinding strategy back then when i was young that i have gold magnet with a lot of marigold then i have cattail to do most damage 3 spaces on the grass for spikeweed/spikerock and between the marigold and the spikeweed/spikerock is a tall nut with a pumpkin nowadays im trying to get chimps medals and black border/gold border in btd6

no, gloom shroom is not that low, his attack has absolutely insane firepower, infinite pierce and synergizes great with loads of other plants, e.g. magnet, pumpkin, winter melon, spikerock etc

9: Gold magnet 💀💀 Dont get me wrong, His almanac and his design is amazing. his function however is absolute shite. 8: Cob cannon Now hear me out, This plant is fucking awesome, its powerful it looks cool it makes you feel badass and its fullfilling to finally get. but god damn it takes like 10 years to even get it and the fact it sucks at dealing with imps cause hell always blow the imp right AFTER he gets eaten. 7: Spikerock This plant has so much utility and its the first plant in my list that i see no major flaws in other than its small range. the only reason its even this low on the list cause every other upgrade plant is very slightly better than it. 6: Twin sunflower Yeah its a good sun producer and 2 rows of it is basically like getting 10 million sun per second and its only draw back is its long ass recharge. but its a thing with all the upgrade plants sooooo- 5: Gloomshroom This plant is an absolute unit in damage its range is its only issue. when used in the godly gloomwalk strategy it makes work of every kind of zombie. well except for gargs and zombonis. 4: Cattail BUSTED as hell but its only restricted to the water sooo if you arent playing any pool levels your kinda out of luck and considering that a huge portion of the minigames dont have water and the ones that do dont let you use cattail ( cause conveyor ) really limits how powerful this plant cant be. 3: Imitater This plant is extremely fucking stupid. If this plants signature ability was used in a different game it would ruin all balance. Its whole mechanic is so broken that most games ban it without giving it a massive draw back. having 2 of 1 thing in a quick amount of time is such an underrated and powerful tool, the amount of plants that DOUBLE in value through its existance alone is insane. the only weakness it has is that it can only copy what plant you want it to copy and you cant change it until the level is over. 2: Gatling pea Come on do I even have to say more? Dude shoots fast, actually has the highest dps in the game even without torchwood. A gatling pea with a torchwood sees all zombies as basics and you cant tell me otherwise. 1: Winter melon No shit this guy gets 1st place, sure gatling pea does more damage but this guy can affect 3 lanes, slowing everything down without even being there in the first place. an entire row of them can solo any level aslong as it doesnt have gimmick zombies like digger and balloon. and only costs 200 sun. sure its technically 500 adding the melon pult. but DAMN this plant should have been the premium instead of snow pea cause even in pvz2 its strength remains unchanged.

Why is immitater 7th, it is the best thing because you can use it for stall, like double puff shroom, the whole point of this is to stall zombies on early part of the level just so you can be able to plant more than 3 sunflowers

Does everyone forget that gold magnet it essential for farming in last stand? Without it, you wouldn't have the coins to afford the other upgraded plants. Now I know that it's still possible to farm without gold magnet, but the process is very tedious, which is why gold magnet is super useful for last stand farming. For the record, I'm not trying to get its placement higher, I'm simply reminding people of how much credit it deserves.

It's EASY to farm coins using Zen Garden. Implying that you should get Gold Magnet early on to help out with getting other upgrade plants with a 'coin farming strategy' that's not even needed is bad advice

8:hypno shroom. absolute garbage. 7:grave buster. can only be used in the night but you might need another slot. 6:Ice shroom. its good in endless but pointless anywhere else. 5:sun shroom. its slow grow speed is annoying. in Survival can even be replaced by twin suns later on. 4:scardey shroom. it is good early on to deal with cone heads but not very useful later in the level. 3:puff shroom. overpowered in night and fog and can be used to slow down zombies in day. 2:doom shroom. its 7×7 range makes it overpowered. nobody needs cherry bomb because of this thing, but it's slow cooldown keeps it from the top. 1:fume shroom. these can tear through basic zombies and coneheads AND can ignore the slant of the roof. it's upgrade is even better. help, I can't copy this onto night levels.

at last, here's my list for the Upgrade Plants 9. Gold Magnet: in my opinion, Gold Magnet has such missed potential, he could have taken metal objects and made it into money! but alas, he's nothing more than a crutch for those with bad reflexes 8. Spikerock: if you saw my pool list, you would know I'm not the biggest fan of Spikeweed and that applies to Spikerock, even though he can take a lot more hits and deals more damage, he's not the best choice (not to mention, he becomes available too buy from Dave in the area he can't even be used in) 7. Cob Cannon: the only reason Cob Cannon is this low down is because he has by far the biggest total sun cost in the history of PvZ at 700 sun, i guess its just fitting for a plant that is basically a renewable Cherry Bomb dispenser 6. Imitater: he lets you use 2 of the same plant in a level, need I say more? 5. Gatling Pea: if I haven't lost my PvZ licence yet, I sure as hell will once people see I kept Gatling Pea from the top 3 but honestly, I don't really care, I only use him in Post Game, he's 50 sun more than just placing 2 Repeaters and I just never saw much use in Gatling Pea outside of Survival and some of the minigames, if this was a PvZ2 list, Gatling Pea would be at the very least in the top 3 because they took everything bad about Gatling Pea, fixed it and improved him 4. Winter Melon: Winter Melon is a good plant but I don't see him as the best, first of all he has the 2nd highest total sun cost at 500 sun, all he does is he gives Melon Pult a slowing effects and he takes EONS to recharge, if only Iceberg Lettuce/Coldslaw/Iceberg Lettuce Pult/Icy Cabbage Pult/Winter Cabbage was actually used in the game, then we would have a cheaper lobbing plant with a slowing effect 3. Cattail: I don't think I even need to explain why Cattail is in the top 3, who do I look like to you? Captain Obvious? 2. Gloom Shroom: personally, I've always liked Gloom Shroom, he's my favourite plant actually (excluding bias anyway), i usually use him with Magnet Shroom, Spikerock and Pumpkin to become a horrifying death trap for the zombies that wins in many ways, the only caveat is that he costs 225 sun (300 in the day) but that's reasonable 1. Twin Sunflower: honestly Twin Sunflower is the ONLY upgrade plant I buy during the campaign and I don't care if people tell me I should buy more, I usually buy Twin Sunflower for the Roof levels but I still use her in the Pool levels

nah gold magnet is insane for coin grinding just trap a zombie at the end of a level on a walnut or something, and then spam marigolds and gold magents and just make sure the zombie stays on the lawn and doesn't die.

The last from PvZ 1, so here we go: 1. Winter Melon: expensive as heck, but it is the ultimate plant from the game. 2. Gatling Pea: use torchwood to kill a batallion 3. Spikerock: kills a basic zombie in 1 tile and massacre gargantuars and cars 4. Twin Sunflower: a pvz2 sunflower 5. Cattail: it's a bit dummy when there are a lot of zombies, but she still does her job. 6. Gloom-shroom: I like it's idea, but it needs the help of the pumpkin to work (the garlic doesn't exist) 7. Imitater: it depends on which plant is going to be imitated. In general, its use is limited to pumpkin 8. Cob Cannon: I almost never used it. I am not a survival endless player. 9. Gold Magnet: useless, useless, USELESS!
