As much as I enjoy the videos where you play opponents and provide commentary in real time, I think this format is more effective for providing instruction. Invading is a great topic, but I hope to see more videos like this on other topics as well!

I loved this video I feel like I learnt more than the last 10 basics I watched combined, it really helped to cement what the basics is all about.

I really really needed this. I have struggled with successful invasions...because I did not demand that my invasion stones threaten to do way more than one thing. No more lazy stones! Keep these wonderful basics videos coming! (Timing....way out....base....aji. Remember all the things!)

Late to the party but this is a brilliant lesson. As a cherry on top, my last teaching game with my sensei ended up EXACTLY like the last example. And my group lived a slow, painful life, and then W was up 40 points.. Thank you for the excellent content.

If you want to demonstrate invading maybe you could try a high handicap game.

Dwyrin, great video (love the whole basics series). Btw as a 10k player, i fully understand the "playing away" in the first game - we are deathly afraid of the 3-3 corner invasions because we don't know how to kill/manage it, so taking an extra move like R4 feels very big to us as it "secures the corner"

Great Strategy Lesson Dwyrin. A very nice GO version to sharpen the awareness, that in Military Operations there are non less than "Nine Grounds". "The Art of War" Sun Tzu, pag. 156. Thanks & be well !!

Hey @dwyrin, in the first pro game you looked at, W's invasion seemed too early to me. Since B got sente out of it, couldn't they play on the bottom for another moyo? If W played on the bottom before invading, they could also use that extra strength to attack the black stone in the bottom left. What do you think?
@dwyrin6 жыл бұрын
Yeah it does seem a bit early but it might be sente? Since cut point is trouble some....

I suggest reviewing some of Kobayashi Koichi’s games from the 70’s to 90’s if you want to learn how to invade everything.

I wish the video had a "loved" button. I'm in the 8-10Kyu range (KGS) and when I saw this video I was hoping to learn how to deal with a position my opponents keep getting. The position arrived at 12:18 and then you went "Gordon Ramsay" on my "opening." My Nemesis -- kzbin.info/www/bejne/hZurYmV3pNSlh7M I'll definitely be watching this video a couple more times. I'm also guilty of extending instead of jumping when my invasion gets kicked. 3 things -- kzbin.info/www/bejne/hZurYmV3pNSlh7M

It's a series good sir. The overall goal of the series will be to teach you how to invade. First we just start with the what not to do and correct common mistakes before moving onto the many examples of what you can do.

13:31 I always feel that I am a 7-8 kyu player. I played many games against 12-15 kyus and never saw a move like that. what? you have to know some joseki to reach 9 kyu. Btw the first game is like a game between 15-20 kyu players. OGS:online-go.com/user/view/486156

Lots of useful stuff, but the tone is so smug, sarcastic, unkind.. I can't watch it.

Understandable. Often times my passion for the game comes through in a video which has made a few people uncomfortable and, the inflections I often use to press home important points I would like the audience to remember, some people tend to take personally. I'm sorry you fall into this category as there was a lot of good material in this lecture that many people seemed to enjoy and learn from. On the bright side, there is a lot of great go content on various platforms nowadays, so I'm sure you'll find something that more suits you. Good luck!
