this looks like the kind of stronger player at my local Go club. they're all these old guys who have been playing for like 50 years and can just brute force through anything, never bothered to learn joseki or theory, but they've just accumulated so much raw experience with the game that they still come across as very strong to the uninitiated and walk all over new members. it leads to very strange, often ugly Go that's frustrating to play against if you can't see through it. probably, this dan is the same kind of dan. (don't feel bad about that one hane you ignored, btw, playing against this kind of Go wears you out)

I don't think that black S1 works in upper right corner for game two. After white R1, black S2, white P1, black has a ko? If black T3, white T2, etc, white is alive. I am fairly sure the killing move is the hane at P1 - "there is death in the hane!"
