I dont think that just do a plain copy of the user profile folder is the correct way to do it. There are system files, hidden files and security definitions that are not copied in this too simple method of copying data. You can use the bakup & restore program of windows 7 that comes also with windows 10 and 11. If you fully backup all yout personal data and reinstall all software from scratch, you'll end up with a clean and fast operating system. It takes more time but the result is better.
@CyberCPU
@CyberCPU Жыл бұрын
That's true, there are several files that cannot be copied by doing it this way. However, you can't use those files anyway with the new profile on the new OS so they really don't need to be backed up.

I'm surprised with how inexpensive M.2s, and SSDs have become, people still use a single drive for both OS operation, and storage. I have a 250 Gb SSD solely dedicated to Windows, and the programs I have installed. I have a 500 Gb M.2 dedicated to my Steam library with a few games related files/folders, and a 1 Tb HDD for non-crucial storage. Typically the only things I have to backup are my browser bookmarks file, and my passwords file. I have all the programs I install on my storage drive, and backed up on a flash drive with accompanying serials. Even after a complete system wipe I'm up, and running within an hour, or so. Granted, I keep an incredibly lean OS, and only run a few needed progs, and apps so there's that. I still want to point out that this video is incredibly helpful to those who don't have more than one drive. Anything that keeps Windows from completely taking over our systems is well appreciated so thank you! 😁
@CyberCPU

Yeah, most computers only have a single drive. Still a good idea to backup even if you have multiple drives. Unless you unplug them during reinstall. It's easy to format the wrong drive and your screwed. I've done it, it sucks.
@demontekdigital1704
@demontekdigital1704 Жыл бұрын
@@CyberCPU Lol, I've done that too. That's why I always run through a list of things I need to backup first, then shutdown, and remove all drives. The M.2 is the only pain to do because it requires physically removing it rather than a simple unplug, but it's a necessary evil if I want to keep my data. One thing I do is I always go online to see if I can get the latest versions of offline installers, and stubs. That way I can install what I need before ever plugging my cat5 to the motherboard. It keeps me from having to use Edge to find what I need, lol.
@CyberCPU
@CyberCPU Жыл бұрын
@@demontekdigital1704 I would look into Ninite. You can pick the software you want and it will download the latest version and install it for you. Very nice software and it's free. The primary reason I don't use an M2 drive in my gaming system is because I switch between drives for videos and it would be a hassle to swap M2 drives. I just have several SATA cables I plug in depending on what drive I want. Makes it way easier.
@demontekdigital1704
@demontekdigital1704 Жыл бұрын
@@CyberCPU Thank you. I'll look into it. I completely understand not using M.2s in your applications. I only got mine because it was close to the same price as an SSD so I figured I'd pay a few dollars more for the speed increase. Once all the repairs, and mods are done to the home we are buying are complete, I plan on getting an M.2 just for the OS. Then I'll put Win 11 on it to test the OS to see if I like it. If I don't I can always wipe it, and put Win 10 on it, and use the SSD as a backup. Fortunately we're finally getting out of the repair phase, and are looking towards the renovation phase so we can start making it ours. Lots of work, and a ton of sweat-equity, but it's well worth it.

Hello, can you please help me? My mom bought a brand new HP laptop that comes with Windows 11 Home in S mode installed, and gave it to me to set it up for her. I want to just clean install Windows 10 on it, can I do that without a problem? Will the activation key from 11 carry over to 10? Also, can I install Windows 10 Pro, or does it have to be the Home version, just like the one on the laptop? And finally, do I have to install the support programs for HP? Thank you for taking the time.

Nope, it's a method of downgrading to Windows 10 after the Windows 11 after the 10 day download window. I'm not making a dime from EaseUS. They offered me a commission but I opted for getting my viewers a bigger discount instead. The video is actually sponsored by VIP-scdkey.com. They did pay me for the preroll at the beginning.

Thank god for this and the free one im tired of windows 11 its so bad doesnt do its job should of never been released in this state because its literally as bad as it gets cant even run your system at times just randomly freezing without using any hardware to help and then when it does it has so many crap programs running in the background causing it to run extra slow and then handicap your performance just to eventually brick your system and constantly have to resort to repairing and verifying your storage which it continually fails to do successfully just complete garbage should of been cooked longer it mind as well not of been cooked at all hence why windows 12 is already coming out to be a massive patch for it because with the reputation it has its unrecoverable don't listen to anybody that recommends windows 11 on older hardware you will regret it too many problems

For 10~20 US$ you can add an SSD to your system and install on it what OS you want . Then Windows Boot Manager will ask you every time you start your pc wich system you want to use. Is so simple! Now if you install as second OS Windows 10 on apc with Windows 11 and boot your system with windows 10, You will have acces to Windows 11 drive and can start any app installed on it by double click on it. Even more you can perform a right click on any app wich is installed on drive D: and send it to desctop (make shortcut) so you dont need to uninstall or reinstall anything. Because of extreme spying on you I do not recomend the use of Windows 11 at all!!! Sorry for delay responce .The tragic train accident has take all my attention and time...

@fryerlawrence

In the beginning there was a workaround for getting on Windows 11 and thought my computer could handle it, or so I thought. LOL however, it was through the windows Insider program I think that finally installed Windows 11. No surprise Windows 11 blows monkeys… so I tried to go back to Windows 10. True to fashion Microsoft's program really screwed me over! I ended up having to (payed Geek Squad $200 to buy the Total Tech program because it includes free data transfers) fix all of Microsoft f'up(s) Yes… that is plural.

@@fryerlawrence Local techs are typically way better then big box stores. When techs in big box stores get good they typically go out on their own. Big box stores usually have kids just starting out and are not usually very good yet.
