How could the audience NOT be tearing down the walls??? There was enough energy and talent coming off that stage to launch the space shuttle. I saw the Go-Go’s play Pittsburgh in 1984. It felt like the roof came off the Civic Arena that night. I was 15. I’m now 55 and I remember that night like it was yesterday! FIRE!

Agreed...I watched this on the night and over 40 years later can vividly remember my disgust at the audience's non-participation...there was a lot of snobbishness towards US bands at the time - plus no-one had seen an all-female outfit...

I was lucky enough to meet her at a concert at Irvine Meadows in the early 80's. My girlfriend and I were sitting rather high up in the seats below the lawn when these two people walked up and sat in front of us. I instantly recognized Kathy and her date... Clem Burke, the drummer from Blondie. At one point they turned around and chatted with us. Great memory.

Not really, they're often flat/sharp as with a large percentage of live acts. If they did a vocal take like that in the studio it would be scrapped. That's why a lot of artists used to spend a week or more laying down a vocal track for one song.

The Go-Go's are awesome! "Girl of 100 lists" is now one of my favorite songs from them. Their non-commercial songs are just as good if not better than some of their more commercially successful songs. You really have to by a band or musicians album to discover the "hidden gems" songs that don't get much if any radio play.

I am 54 and it makes me frustrated and sad to see comments like this. I bet you were between 16 and 24 when the Gogos were popular, and those years are your comfort zone and you won't venture outside of it. There is fantastic music in every single decade. There is also complete garbage in every single decade. Look at ANY top 40 chart from ANY year, and you will see complete garbage on it. Top 40 is like McDonalds - not premium quality stuff, but it is a representation of the average taste of consumers. I am hesitant to suggest any bands because I imagine your mind is already made up about them before even hitting play, but why don't you check out a few tunes from The Beths? Fun, upbeat rock music. Great harmonies. Talented players. And that is just one band. There is ALWAYS great music out there. You just have to be willing to listen to it and look outside of the Spotify top 40 for it.

Why are people surprised about the audience? The Gos-Gos are from California, this is the North of England. Try to imagine an audience full of Noel and Liam Gallaghers. Also British/European audiences never used to whoop and holler for an act, that's only a more recent phenomenon imported from the U.S. during the 90s.

Brilliant! I remember this. Was already well into the band by then but struggled to take off in the UK and still to this day, no idea why.

Wow, what a great LIVE performance! Such a joy watching a band that actually plays instruments. Belinda in full force with the Germs as a resume. Jane full of spunk and energy. Charlotte in the lead while multitasking guitar and keyboards. And Kathy and Gina providing a solid rhythm section. A joy to listen and fun to watch.

They went from the UK to Germany. The Germans went crazy for them.

I love the confusion on their faces. Cali girls vibing is always a thing. They're so talented.

Saw the GoGos open for the Police at the Nassau Coliseum that same year. I want to go back to 1982.
