All anyone has to do is listen from 1:41 to 2:21 wether you've listened to them before or it's your first time ever hearing the Go Go's, and that's the reason right there why they are in the Hall Of Fame!! That 40 seconds of this song ushered out the Disco era and brought in pop music and this is what makes them legends! This song is fondly remembered by anyone who ever lived or especially grew up in the 1980's They bridged the gap between Disco ending and pop beginning which went on to lead to Michael Jackson and Prince and Madonna taking over the mid 80's into the 90's. Truly they are legends in the music industry as not only the first truly successful all female band but they also wrote the music, the lyrics, played their own instruments, and sang their own songs! "We Got The Beat" not only showcased this band but brought probably the most beautiful female singer of all time to us with her distinctive vocals that can never be duplicated and her 80's dance moves in the legend Belinda Carlisle. Just a timeless beauty with a gorgeous voice. They deserved to be in the Hall Of Fame sooner but well done girls! Still listening to you in 2024 and hopefully for many many more years to come! ❤ 🔥🔥🔥

Love, love the Go-Go's! I remember this was the very first time that I had ever seen them. "We Got the Beat" became and still is my favorite Go-Go's song. The very next day after seeing this performance on Solid Gold, I ran out and bought their 1st album Beauty and the Beat. I still have that album. These ladies are now in their 50's, and can still rock out with the best of them!

On this day in 1982 {January 23rd} the Go-Go's performed "We Got The Beat" on the late Dick Clark's 'American Bandstand' One week later on January 30th it entered Billboard's Hot Top 100 chart; eventually it peaked at #2 {for 3 weeks} and spent 19 weeks on the Top 100 It reached #3 on the Canadian RPM Top Singles chart and #29 on the Australian ARIA Singles chart The three weeks it was at #2; the #1 record was "I Love Rock and Roll" by Joan Jett & the Blackhearts R.I.P. Mr. Clark {1929 - 2012}
