For 40 hp you need a bigger kart with independent suspension for all 4 wheels

cool build, but its a snowmobile engine, wont it overheat to easily. how are you going to handle that?

Good question... that's something we looked at before buying this engine. Especially because we live in a desert. This engine is fan cooled... even at an idle, there's a crazy amount of air being pushed at the engine.

The shaft is 1-½", machined down to 1-⅜ on the ends

awesome video check out my go kart with snowmobile build I used the same secondary clutch, but mine has a rotax 399 c that I custom fitted on a manco go kart it's on hold now because I'm pretty sure I have to buy new condensers because the motor stopped working before I put it away for the winter has no spark tones of compression and tons of fuel

Why did you decide to use a 2 stroke engine? A 4 stroke Briggs & Stratton or Honda engine would work just as well. 4 stroke engines are quieter than 2 stroke engines and 4 strokes usually last longer.

What size of Honda 4-stroke are you thinking? Predator style? Cade's 15 Hp 4-stroke is HUGE, and a new one would cost well over $600 for around 15hp. This one is 40-45 Hp ($100) and physical size wise, a little smaller than his 4-stroke. So size-power-cost ratio isn't even close. Noise.... don't really care, sounds awesome. 2-strokes are far easier to maintain, and much cheaper to fix that a 4-stroke. We also spend a good amount of time running the engine upside down, so having no oil is perfect. So yeah, cost, size, power, easy to maintain

Oh okay.... if you've seen the video's of the kart running, a 6.5 Hp engine probably wouldn't even turn the wheels

+KGN Metal I used to have a dune buggy style go kart that had a 150cc 13hp 4 stroke engine. It also had electric start, lights, reverse, 4 wheel hydraulic brakes, and a parking brake.
