Very “Sweet” Go Cart and very well looking build. Now put a Mikuni V22 and put a 40 main jet you can always adjust the emulsion needle valve if it’s running rich put the clip at third from bottom and if it’s lean use the very last notch on the needle valve and you should notice a nice fast response on it. Nice job!!!

@WWMike127 жыл бұрын
Woah! Absolutely appreciate the enthusiasm! Just a few things to consider in your design 1: you've got very little positive caster in your design. It provides more front-end grip as well transfers load to the front when turning. Steering efforts increased, but helps straight-line stability, and 2: Ackerman! Right now, when turning, your front wheels are following the same radius around a given corner. This works against you in that the inside wheel is going through heavy scrubbing, thereby inducing understeer. Yeah, so you've got two things that will promote understeer as you get close to the limit of your chassis. Lot's on it out there
@BuildBreakRepeat7 жыл бұрын
michael green Thanks for the info, we have experienced some understeer so we'll look into it.
@AlphaMachina7 жыл бұрын
Next time, if there is a next time (and there should be) because you'll only get better at it, especially putting all of this work in, you guys should make sure to measure, measure, measure. Draw out a perfectly measured grid on that sheetrock or whatever medium you use, and use the grid to get your two sides even. Then measure and mark directly onto the metal with permanent marker every single time you're going to weld a joint. Like that old saying "Measured once, cut twice, and the damn thing is still too short." :D
@BuildBreakRepeat7 жыл бұрын
Alpha Machina lol yeah, good idea with the grid, what we really need to figure out is a way to make the bends equal because there isn't really any measurements or anything for that pipe bender, but yeah like you said hopefully we only get better haha.

@gusalmighty50986 жыл бұрын
You should do some research on Ackerman steering geometry. Your steering will be improved 100% and your front tires will last twice as long. Your current set up steers your outside front wheel sharper than your inside front.......the exact opposite of how it should be. You might also consider adding some caster to your spindle brackets........your chassis looks really rigid so remounting the brackets with just a 10 degree tilt toward the rear will help straight line stability and create a jacking effect while turning that greatly reduces a karts tendency to push or understeer through turns.

Great job guys love those wheels
@mikeroberts77757 жыл бұрын
You guys did an excellent job and you should be proud of it. Now a few comments about kart racing. Racing karts are governed by the FIA the same people that govern F1 and a myriad of other types and classes of racing cars. Because of this the chassis must conform to exact specifications length, width, distance between axels and on and on. Your understeer problem may be solved by moving the front wheels in as far out as you can on the spindles and moving your rear wheels in. Also it looks as if you are using the same size tires on all corners. The front tires should be smaller than the rears. You may also want to run less pressure on the fronts. I think the biggest issue you are facing with concern to under steer is the frame design. Specifically the castor of the front wheels. You will notice that if you turn the steering wheel on a racing kart it will make the back wheel lift off the ground a fraction. Turn the steering wheel to the left it will pick up the left hand back wheel. This acts as a differential because the inside rear tire will want to turn faster than the outside. If a rear wheel is not lifted the the locked up rear axel will want to push the cart straight and there is your understeer. Racing carts also have removable chassis components one behind the seat the other along the side of the driver these act to make the chassis rigid or more flexible. I could go on and on so you can imagine what it is like to set up a racing kart at different tracks it is a lot of work and is not dissimilar to setting up an F3, F2 or even an fi one car. Once again i think you did a superb job at your first go it is something that i would never attempt. I hope this info helps try looking at the CRG website or First kart. If you need more setup info i would be happy to help.
@BuildBreakRepeat7 жыл бұрын
Mike Roberts Dang man you know your stuff. Thanks for the input, we really need to adjust our front caster like you stated.
@bookooc7 жыл бұрын
Well he doesn't know everything. FIA has little to do with most karting in the USA. There are several organizations that govern Karting here. IKF (International Kart Federation), WKA (World Karting Association), KART (Karters of America Racing Triad), USPKS (United States Pro Karting Series)
@mikeroberts77757 жыл бұрын
Sorry guys if you look at the layout of their tube chassis it is a direct copy of a world championship kart. All world championship karts are governed by the FIA. I did a lot of SKUSA racing in Las Vegas and raced for FIRST KART all of the privateers that used first kart chassis were exactly the same as the factory team ones just one level behind. When Schumacher was making his comeback he raced icc all over the world i realize it is now called KZ. Of course there are lots of different types of racing but what these guys are building closely resembles a world championship kart not a dirt track chewing tobacco league. Don’t be such a pedantic twit NONYA
