I remember my childhood gokart. It was the Dingo. Met an unfortunate demise after the throttle cable broke and my friends and I decided to rig it with mechanics wire. Well, one of my friends hit the kill switch and when we went to start it up again, the throttle was stuck wide open. It took off with no driver and went up a set of steps, up a hill, did a U-turn and slammed into a pole full speed. The front end was demolished and beyond repair. Had some great times on that one. The book Go-Kart Alley has a similar story, only, in the real life incident that inspired it, I was on it with throttle stuck wide open, ungoverned and no brakes. Good times indeed.

Like you two, my son and I started out building/driving go karts. Today we race a 500 WHP road track car, and still are doing it together. The fun never stops, it just gets more expensive. But it's worth every penny.

Nova 396 all that Frame is, is a Manco Dingo go kart WITHOUT the roll bars installed. I have 2 of these frames and I dont know what they are talking about BUT those karts are EVERYWHERE here in NorthEast Ohio. I paid under $150 each for mine in running condition. I see bare frames for $50 to $100 depending on the shape its In all the time.

It looks like the old Orange Crate, but with higher Steering Wheel, more ground clearance - MUCH Better Engine.... BETTER!! I'm 54 years old, and I STILL want one!!! 😱😭 I've been pining for this thing since 1979. I remember my Dad saying "$495!!?? You can buy a REAL Car for that!" He was RIGHT. My first Car, 1969 Chevy Nova - $495!!! But I'd still have one today, if I could get my broken ass into one - or back OUT of it!

Etch primer gives your paint the best adhesion possible just thought I would pass that along and a disc brake is much better for stopping than shoe type great video

I'm 53 years old... In the late 70s my Dad bought me a used single seat go cart with a blown engine... He took the 3 1/2 hp briggs off the garden tiller..installed a new clutch, and I was riding that evening... I remember had scrubber breaks and single wheel drive... I really loved it!!!!

I did not know how a go kart worked and was searching for HOURS on how they work. I got to know how the individual parts functioned (from KartFab)but did not know a good way to put them together. Plus, KartFab only showed a dead axel kart and charged $20 for a Live Axle Go Kart plans. This Video Really Helped. Thanks! Also I just noticed its 2016 and its 2020 for me and I found it fascinating that this sort of stuff existed in the 80s. I dunno, maybe its just me being a GenZ. Anyways. Thanks for the Video! Helped out a lot! Edit: I just realised I have a ton of homework and I have been watching you videos instead of doing it. Welp!

Love u take time to do go kart projects with ur son. Alot of men nowa days dont. My son and i built one together. Now hes 16 and we built a even bigfer go kart. A VW with a 2275cc motor. Not many V8s can out run it the quarter. Nice job u two!!

I see some of the karts in the background have the 5-spoke Astro wheels, do any of them run a live axle? If so, how did you attach the Astro wheel to the live axle? I cannot find any live axle hubs with the correct 5-bolt pattern.

We had to make those Astro wheel to live-axle adapters ourselves on the milling machine. I have talked to our sponsor Go Power Sports about carrying both the wheels and our adapters. Will try to post a video about it soon!

Just saw it has a Jan 2018 date on GoPowerSports, is it the standard length or the XL? I'm just under 5'10" with 34" legs so it's easy to get crammed in something short.

Excellent build there. That's awesome that you guys build things together. Wish my dad would've done things like that with me back when I was young. Not enough parents spending the quality time with their kids these days to teach them the valuable skills they can/will use their entire life. One question on your build. Why did you guys go with the straight across front axle/spindle arms, instead of the drop spindle arms (bent front axle)? Ground clearance?

Thank you for the compliments! We are about to go into production on these kits and they will have the bent front axles with drop spindle arms. This one has a pretty high ground clearance.
