It works as a CVT. As the rpm rises, it modifies the torque coming from the engine to the wheels. it mimics changing gears to a closer ratio as the rpm increases, as the rpm decreases it brings the ratios further apart like 1st gear would be in a vehicles transmission.

steering arms should point to center of rear axle, king pin should be angled so it points to center of spot where tire touches the ground. Also should have king pins rolled back a few degrees. Great cart and nice to see the others helping!! Thanks for the video Jimmy.

You might want to come up with a plan B for the wheels. This one's aren't meant to hold up to a sideload. They're meant to lean into corners.

I've been watching since Hammered & Dirty Money and followed you along the years. From when I was a teen, now I'm 35. Sure, we'll just whip up a go-cart... sounds easy, right? So many details!! At one point I said, this does NOT look sturdy... then Jimmy adds steel rod trusses and it becomes solid as a rock. Very cool that some bona fide craftsman stopped by to lend a hand.

Even keeping up on Instagram there are so many more parts on this build that I thought were off the shelf components that you actually built from scratch. Amazing! Always the just about perfect ratio of exact versus eyeballed! The technician and the artist all in one craftsman. Always a treat to watch, always something valuable new to learn. Also there might be scratch built go carts before but the 20s styling on this one is right on the money (expect perhaps the CVT and the disk brake, but again they both somehow don't seem to subtract from the style much if any)

The transmission you use is a VARIOMATIC, invented by Hub van Doorne, Eindhoven-The Netherlands in the ‘60th. It was first used in the DAF33 automobil, a funny little dutch familycar, my father owned one.
