So to summarize I think: 1) shoot more poundage, 2) shoot lighter arrows, 3) choose shorter fletching, 4) smaller scope housing, 5) pull the sight closer to the riser, 6) move up the peep height as high as you can, 7) put a sight pin at the bottom of the housing.

This is gold! Running out of yardage cost me shots at 2 bulls last year. This was my project for the year. Maximizing yardage. Thanks!

Also, I had to learn on my own that I needed to start with my bottom so I could get the max distance out of my sight. I think this is easily overlooked in the beginning.

Built my first bow with a sight tape this year. Could only get it to go out to 60yds before my arrow hit my scope. Didn’t know anything about this stuff. Took it back to my pro shop, they told me to adjust my anchor point, we moved my sight all the way toward the riser and raised my peep. I can shoot out to 105 now. Shooting a Mathew’s lift, 70lb draw, 440gr arrow

Great video, I have been looking for something like this. Relatively new to archery, 2 years, and still learning a lot. Got a site that had ability to adjust vertically. It has you site in at 20 and 60 yards. My current setup can’t get to 60. I’m a pretty short guy, 5’3” shooting 50 lbs, using a wrist release and was having a hard time understanding why I couldn’t get the site to 60. I think my issue is peep site to arrow. Thank you for helping to understand all of the variables that go into distance!

Great info. I will have to look at my peep placement and anchor point this weekend when my new string and cables are installed. Everything else besides going with a smaller scope has been taken into account. Running AVX-41 on landslyde so that I can utilize my current lens without having to buy a new one. I should be able to get triple digits easily on my setup, but testing will confirm one way or another and adjusted from there.

I believe The Mountain Archery Fest is way better than TAC. It's way less crowded and they're not strict about your start time and you can go do a course by yourself you don't have to be in a group

For 500 grain arrows, you can lower the sight to at least 73m on my bow. There is another pin that can be fired at 80m and the edge of the bubble corresponds to 90m. By the way, it is convenient to shoot a bubble, it is so easy to see it, unlike a pin when you need to look down at the bubble. You can't shoot beyond 90m.

Another big change to make is going to smaller and sleeker fletchings. I was originally shooting q2i fusion x-ii in a 4 fletch on my tac arrows and now I change to 3 fletch bhoning x3s and I get 20 yards more out of my tape now

I have papertuned my PSE Unite with chims, not by adjusting the arrowrest, and I’m getting bullet holes. And I maintain the 3/16 of an inch from arrow to riser. Interesting enough I have a bit of a cam lean but the bow is working flawless and shooting straight.

Always thought the pin gap shrunk as you moved site out
@eliasvaughn38439 ай бұрын
Just like iron sites on a gun. The further apart the front and rear sight the more accurate. But with a bow the gaps get bigger but the precision gets better.

I moved my peep up and resighted in. After that i used my slider to 60yrds and i was shooting high. I moved it to 57 to hit at 60. Does moving the peep affect the sight scale
@philiptweet597010 ай бұрын
Yes sir, its the height over bore/arrow.

Does adding a magnification lens on the sight also increase pin gap?

@toxophilite19539 ай бұрын
Biggest factor is your peep sight height. The distance between your peep and arrow at full draw.
@Njjb12210 ай бұрын
I don't understand how the scope being further from the riser increases the distance on the scale I never noticed a difference inside out to 65 yds maybe it's more pronounced past 80? Like you said bow speed is the same so I don't understand how the scale can be much different the pin is still in the same horizontal access
@sandersarchery792610 ай бұрын
Quick and dirty explanation and way for you to understand. Fully extend your arm and point your finger and the bottom of a window. Now move it towards the top of the window. Pull your finger closer to your eye and repeat. Notice how the closer your finger is to your eye the less distance it has to travel to reach the top of the window. Pins closer to your riser, less pin gap, smaller tape.
