Does anyone know how much money these fighting game gamers make? Like is their livelihood mainly from the winnings or do sponsors and stuff provide them money like a salary or incentive? I know big games with huge winning pools like LOL make good money but I always wondered what the non-winners make and less popular or smaller winnings gamers earn since even winning the most important tournament of the year, for some games like fighting games where first place only gets like $10k and what not

When offline was a thing Punk used to make around 20k-40k a month, and he only plays Street Fighter V, while someone like Sonicfox who play Dragon Ball Fighter z + Mortal Kombat 11 + Marvel vs capcom Infinite probably makes double than that. I don't know how much others made, but some get free traveling + staying at hotels for just attending spasific tournaments the sponsors want and if you win money is yours

Old comment but, on most Fighting Games players do not make that much, specially since most players attending big tournaments are not sponsored. Yes, sponsored players have their travel and stay paid for by their orgs, but 80% of the players attending tournaments go negative if they dont achieve a top 32 finish at least. Fighting games are not as profitable as other eSports such as big FPS like CS and Valorant or MOBAs like Dota or LOL, but that's mainly because in those eSports it's pretty hard to get into a top tier team and actually compete, whereas in Fighting games anyone can sign up for almost any event.

@@rodelalcazar oh that’s a real bummer so do most fighting game players typically have a normal career and do the gaming for a hobby? I wish we could somehow get gaming in all categories to be careers for players that commit so much of their time and effort into it but I guess there is the streaming option but idk if that helps any considering you mentioned how fighting games aren’t as popular

@@shaunbang Yes, nowadays with streaming most fighting games players get to make money that way, but that also depends on the popularity of the game and the playerbase, since most people would rather watch the top players that are already making a living out of competing.
