This scene is especially chilling because Superman isn't just deciding to somewhat cut loose to scare the Elite; *he's using their own philosophy against them.* The entire story, they've been acting with the Philosophy that might makes right and those in power should use it however they see fit. And the Elite realize too late that by that metric, Superman wins, and will win every time. It's a horrifying thought, and the exact reason why Clark holds back as much as he does and why he fundamentally disagrees with the Elite.

Yeah, it's the whole "living in a world of cardboard" thing. For Superman, that's a literal fact. He's constantly holding himself back by about 90%, because he knows just how powerful he is and how much devastation he could cause by simply _breathing too hard._ And that's just with a yellow sun. In the light of a _white_ sun he could shatter galaxies with a high-five. Hell, even with a red sun it doesn't eliminate his powers right off the bat. He's a literal walking solar battery, and can hold on to that energy for _days_ (it's how he can fight in the darkest reaches of space, for instance). So yeah, pissing him off is an awesome way to get yourself atomized.

Two things to note that make this scene better: 1. Ordinarily, you can't show people gruesomely dying without raising the age rating considerably. A clever way around this that also makes the deaths seem much darker is hearing Superman describe these deaths in gruesome detail. Really stirs up the imagination. It's scarier knowing they could be based on facts. They're not just bluffs. They're threats. They're a terrifying reminder that Superman isn't just dangerous, he's creative. 2. Superman's English voice actor also portrays Sephiroth. George Newbern is really, really good at sounding like a villain.

Heck, look how Injustice Billy ended up. What about burning down a Joker party? Best, the part he burned down an entire army of Doomsday clones. "Heat vision. On the other hand, Superman not only uses his wider variety of powers to solve different problems with creativity and smartness, but has a stronger control over his Heat Vision that he can pull up these kinds of stunts. Is a cool parallel.

@@gabrielborges7129it’s not just DC physics backing him up, Superman (and by extension all Kryptonians) have a tactile telekinetic force field which allows them to carry very large/heavy objects without them crumbling apart under their own weight by spreading the effect to them. It also covers their entire body, which is why their clothes are protected from their attacks/movements, as well as being able to withstand blows from similarly powerful beings. I've noticed that there actually seems to be a psychological aspect to how Superman takes down each member of the Elite, in that it shatters what they think makes them untouchable and powerful. Managerie is taken out with a dart, and she outright says it feels like something bit her. Setting small hordes of monstrous creatures on others to bite them to death is her department, and Superman inflicted something similar on her with just one much tinier dart The Hat suffocates due to real world biology and physics, things that he should have been able to bypass as a magic user. This takedown reminded him he was still bound by natural laws, so his carefree arrogance was unearned Coldcast is pretty much the brute of the Elite, using powerful energy blasts as an all-solving hammer. Superman defeats him by using the opposite of strength, speed, to yank him away before he can even formulate a plan to attack. With the added benefit that hiding in a city would be ineffective, because Superman can make him look like a firecracker in comparison if he wanted Manchester Black sees himself as the leader, the brains of the Elite, thinking he knows what's best. Superman's literal attack on that same mind of his doesn't just take away his real and only strength, his powers, but also demonstrates to Black how intelligent Superman is to do something so precise and effective. Hell, his entire gamble proved that he could plan two steps ahead of Black and invalidate his claims that might makes right is, well, right Edit: And this makes comment number 52,000

People don't get this, but Superman is awesome because he's a boyscout. An overpowered, and yet still kind and determined boyscout. His story is not just about his victory, but also how he'll strive to win his battles in the best way possible. In this story Superman was initially showing to The Elite why being goodie two shoes can be pretty cool, only started to intimidate them when they just won't listen and planned to become even worse. Regardless of when he's at his strongest (All-Star) or at his strangest state (Superman Blue vs Angel), if the writer's capable enough and know why Superman is so adored, his stories will be damn good.

People think Superman is powerful and that makes him boring. But Superman fans get why he is so awesome: however powerful you think he is, he is WAY beyond anything you can imagine. The battle where we see him struggle is not against his enemies, but against himself, in how much power he will use against a given foe. He does not fall to corruption even though he could rule this world as a god. Morality is his greatest power, and for those of us really into deep philosophical quandaries and morality plays he provides a wealth of content to explore and enjoy.

Exactly, and I can't stand how people seem to think that there are those in anime who can completely beat him and he is weaker than most. If this video didn't demonstrate it, there are insane moments in comics that show his true power beyond even some "planet breakers" in anime. I'm a big fan myself, but I can see that Superman stands for more than a lot of the other characters, what makes him great is the fact that with all of that incredible power, he'd still rather talk to someone than resort to violence. DS uses Omega beam twice (one of them was able to turn around the fight in DS favor), but DS stops using Omega Beam for no reason. Supes wins. 6: Supes fights DS in Metropolis. Doomsday Clock #10 brings back up and reinforces the notion of Superman being an integral and necessary constant of reality as he is the first superhero. "Everything comes from Superman", as Alexander Luthor once said in Infinite Crisis. No matter what happens, there will always be a Superman as he represents hope and any attempt to change this causes the universe to adapt and reform around him. It also clarifies that Superman could indeed kill Manhattan and he sees a possible outcome in which he confronts him but he doesn't know if Superman kills him or he destroys the universe

One of my favorite movies is Allstar Superman. While the feats he performs in the movie might not count due to the circumstances, one thing it does well is take the time to show what superman does in his downtime. The scientific experiments, the manufacturing, even the types of pets he keeps and cares for. He has a forge that creates galaxies when he strikes it, which he uses to feed his pet baby suneater. The dude literally creates stars, just to feed the baby alien that he found and decided to keep as a pet. Superman is much smarter than most give him credit for, and has plenty of hobbies and projects to make use of his superspeed and perception of time. It's like the Metroman exposition scene from megamind, but at all times for superman.
@joaniekeyser4036 Жыл бұрын
Wow, I'mma have to see if Flixtor has that. I recently got curious as to what Supes does when he has downtime, and what all he gets up to in his Fortress.
@hitmonkey47265 жыл бұрын
Well, according to various science channel talking about how strong is Superman realistically is that his punch alone would cause a massive nuclear explosion or a black hole(I forgot which one). When he's moving full speed, he would leave a trail of vacuum and everything would be sucked in(technically you would die if Superman fly or runs past you). In short, yeah. Superman needs to hold back without harming Earth.

@The D4C Gang he's actually a parody of shonene characters like Naruto and Dragonball charcters, but when they reach their peak (like if Goku could activate Ultra Instinct in the original dragonball series). So technically he isn't getting stronger, he's already at his peak. But otherwise I get what you say. Just make sure not to trust every post you see, because a lot of people tend to misinterpret feats of their favorite characters to put them massively higher than they're actually are.

Its worth it to note, anything Doomsday can do, it stands to reason that Supes is capable of at LEAST that since Doomsday IS a hyper-evolved kryptonian.

Very thorough description. Very nice. I just wanna point out that his telepathy was heard by the people watching. So either he recreated the sound to be picked up by the drones, or he spoke to not just the elite, but also anyone watching on earth. That alone is an insane show of power.
@keyblademasterclark Жыл бұрын
I think in the comics it's done by drones, but here I think he's talking through Martian Manhunter.
@robinlaszlo10 ай бұрын
Yeah, nothing in this supports any evidence of Super Man having "telepathic" or anything other than resources from his friends, his own abilities of strength and speed and intelligence. The tornado the person who posted these claims, is telepathic, which is probably just created by flying really fast, and they don't show it often super speed is slowed down to show what's happening but it looks a whole lot scarier and more threatening when you actually can't even see a blur of a human because its so fast so it helps bring the terror to the villains and the audience.
