Goan Prawn Curry
Servings - 2 - 3
INGREDIENTS
Prawns - 350 grams
Salt - 1 teaspoon
Turmeric - 1/4 teaspoon
Lemon juice - 2 teaspoons
Coconut - 120 grams
Dry red chili - 5
Coriander seeds - 2 tablespoons
Cumin - 2 tablespoons
Black peppercorns - 1/2 teaspoon
Cloves - 3 pods
Cinnamon stick - 1
Garlic - 1 tablespoon
Oil - 1 1/2 tablespoons
Oil - 2 tablespoons
Green chili - 2 teaspoons
Onions - 100 grams
Tomato - 140 grams
Water - 240 milliliters
Tamarind paste - 2 teaspoons
Coconut milk - 220 milliliters
Salt - 1 teaspoon
Coriander - 1 tablespoon
PREPARATION
1. In a mixing bowl, add 350 grams prawns, 1 teaspoon salt, 1/4 teaspoon turmeric, 2 teaspoons lemon juice and mix it well.
2. Marinate for 20 - 25 minutes.
3. In a blender, add 120 grams coconut, 5 dry red chili, 2 tablespoons coriander seeds, 2 tablespoons cumin, 1/2 teaspoon black peppercorns, 3 pods cloves, 1 cinnamon stick, 1 tablespoon garlic and blend it into a paste.
4. Keep aside.
5. Heat 1 1/2 tablespoons oil in a pan, add the marinated prawns in it and mix it well.
6. Cook for 5 - 7 minutes on medium heat or until it turns golden brown in color.
7. Remove it from heat and keep aside.
8. Heat 2 tablespoons oil in a skillet, add 2 teaspoons green chili and stir for a minute.
9. Then, add 100 grams onions and fry till translucent or until it turns golden brown in color.
10. Now, add 140 grams tomato and saute until it turns soft and pulpy.
11. Add the blended mixture in it and mix it well.
12. Add 240 milliliters water and mix it again.
13. Cook for 5 - 7 minutes on medium heat.
14. Then, add 2 teaspoons tamarind paste, 220 milliliters coconut milk and mix it well.
15. Bring it to a boil.
16. Now, add the marinated prawns, 1 teaspoon salt and mix it well.
17. Cook for 5 - 7 minutes on medium heat.
18. Add 1 tablespoon coriander and mix it well.
19. Remove it from heat.
20. Garnish with coriander.
21. Serve hot with rice.
