I’ll explain another way to say “in order to” whenever you’re doing something “for” a purpose - this is the form (으)려고. This will often sound more natural than 위해(서), but it can’t replace 위해(서) in every sentence.
Learn about how to use 위해(서) and 위한 here: • "For" 위해 vs 위한 | Live ...

This is really helpful for intermediate learners like myself, where my goal is moving beyond simply being (usually) understood in conversation, and instead to sounding more natural in conversation. Videos like this or the one about 에 대해(서) helped me realize that little ways to improve my speaking. Thanks!

Billy, could you make a video on the "in order to" grammars? I got some doubts about "-게/-도록", "-으려고" and "-아/어야", i don't know if there's more ways to express a similar ideia but these grammars are the ones i get confused

Thank you for this video. I noticed some time ago that form 위해 is not that commonly and naturally used. I also have a question :D what is a difference between 어쨌든 and 아무튼?

As a professional within behavioral science your points about third party intentions @5:00 was really interesting. I get the gist of the notion that they don't believe that one can know the motivations of a third party, but this would make for an interesting dynamic in my counter parts in Korea who work as behavioral scientists or intelligence operatives who use behavioral science methods. I literally read the people around me and the longer I know someone the better I can identify driving motivations. I'm an absolute novice and very superficially dipping my feet in the water with Hangul and the verbal language but you've peaked my interest on this topic.

So this is only for actions verbs? If I want to say „I‘m buying a present for my friend“ I still use -을 위해?

That's the form (으)러 which is used with movement verbs (가다, 오다, etc.) and I have separate videos about how to use it on my channel. It's not a general use "in order to" since it's specifically used in those cases.
