I swear it's Super Junior's fault for being so loud and talking all at the same time!! Kidding aside, I want to say thank you so much, Billy! I really appreciate you doing this series. Your tips are very helpful and made me want to take up learning Korean seriously again. I started learning back in 2009 but the time I actually spent studying and writing notes down probably only amounts to 2 to 3 years. At one point, I started understanding more and not needing subtitles for my drama watching. I talked to Koreans but they just say I'm good. I guess I didn't continue trying harder as I was satisfied with my current level. This video made me want to study again though!! Thank you for correcting me and giving us more tips! Also want to say you're very good at what you do and I can see how much you care and your willingness to help. Thanks, Billy!

I think she did a really good job. I felt like she probably thought about what she wanted to say, but wasn't really scripted nor overly rehearsed...more like she was free talking. I did sense her nerves, but I can 100% relate! Great job! And, Billy, love the ways to improve. Very helpful!

Unfortunately while I did own a camera when I was first living in Korea, I didn't record many videos of myself speaking in Korean. I only have tiny short clips and TONS of photos, but no videos. The first videos I have were already 2-3 years after I started studying.

The tip about more air from mouth is what I have been looking for not for my Korean but for English. Now will apply it for both, thank you so much Billy. To an English native speaker it sounds quite easy and natural but for speakers of many other languages is a completely new feeling. Ur new subscriber

The point about how non-native speakers (including myself) tend to use filler sounds like “uhh” or “umm” - I didn’t notice this until you said it! Will pay more attention to it now when listening to native speakers speak! Thank you for your analysis, Billy! It’s really helpful! And thanks to Geona too!!!

Do you think you would ever make a video about intonation? I'm working on that with my Italki tutor but it's still a bit hard. And it seems, that I don't see many video addressing this subject. I love all your tips and will have to remember them!
@GoBillyKorean
@GoBillyKorean 2 жыл бұрын
I've given tips here and there in various videos, but I don't have one video about only intonation yet. That's because there aren't rules for intonation like there are for pronunciation. It all depends on the person. Basically though one thing that can help is shadowing someone.

I think I've also heard people say "어.." as filler a word. I've been doing that here and there since it's the closest to what I would normally say if I think about something but now I'm not sure if Koreans actually say that
