"There's actual narrative reasons; they killed his sister." The goblins didn't just killed his sister; they raped her continously and after they've had their fun, killed her before dragging her corpse off to be eaten. And Goblin Slayer saw it all from where he was hiding from start to finish. That, and including all the other girls and women in the village. So yeah, he's driven by that undying vengeance after seeing what level of cruelty the goblins were capable off. He hasn't got a single shred of mercy for them after witnessing all that.

"Do things go back to normal when we've murdered the big bad guy?" Yes. Yes they do. That's rather his point, adventurers are chasing these brief moments of glory, then going back to celebrate and think they've fixed the world. But they haven't, the world is back to normal, a normal where villages are raider, men and livestock are slaughtered, women are kidnapped and raped. Houses burns, communities are ruined. Fighting normal is what the Goblin Slayer does. There is no Grand Quest that will fix the world, just the daily grind, one dead goblin at a time.

@CorwinTheOneAndOnly
@CorwinTheOneAndOnly 5 жыл бұрын
Long term solutions for goblins are obviously just updated fortifications to villages. At the moment, Gobbos reproduce at an equivalent rate or higher than they can be killed off due to the amount of women they kidnap. So, while slayer san is out killing gobbos, fortifying the walls and defenses of towns and cities susceptible to goblin raids is how you reduce the risk of the gobbo repopulating after the slayer has done his work. Eventually goblins will start dying off faster than they can reproduce, because more and more attempts at kidnapping females is met with failure. Fortifications like that are obviously expensive, but if it's for the net good of humanity then it'll be fine in the end.

I love the premise of GS being a folk hero, a champion of the average Joe. He doesn't even does it for the glory nor the pay: he kills Goblins becase of a personal vendetta therefore he understands the pain they can bring upon common, helpless people like he once was. He's aware of the butterfly effect: little actions making into bigger, more chaotical instances. He sees Goblins as a real threat that can potencially ravage the world. What an awesome character.

yeah and that's the thing: he is being known for his actions that help the forgotten community. The other heroes want to eb the big grand heroes, the ones who saved the world, which only the monarchies and bigger cities really care about, but for the villages and smaller places this 'demon king' isn't really a problem. Goblins Are. SO while these 'greater' heroes are waiting for a bigger chance and thus squandering their time and doing jac shit, Goblin Slayer is actually DOING stuff (as logn as its goblins) and thus Goblin Slayer is ironically becoming more famous than these supposedly better classed heroes. and even better: this is all a complete accident. Goblin Slayer doesn't care abotu any other threat beyond Goblins and doesn't care about fame or money, just murdering goblins. He's just doig what he does because he's a broken, broken man and that coincidentally leads to him doing more for everyone and being more of a hero than the ones who deride him.
@SaiyanGamer95
@SaiyanGamer95 5 жыл бұрын
@@sarafontanini7051 Goblin Slayer's main motivation is that he doesn't want people to suffer like he did. He knows first-hand the kind of horrors Goblins can do. He lost his entire family and his village to Goblins and doesn't want that to happen to anyone else. The other heroes are more concerned with major, large-scale issues while basically ignoring small-scale issues. It's basically "The needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few" but to GS, he's more like "The needs of the few are just as important as the needs of the many". And while many humans don't consider what he's doing as important, the non-humans do. Keep in mind that Goblins and Elves are pretty much mortal enemies and High Elf Archer refers to him as "Orcbolg", the name given to those who specifically slay Goblins. And the Dwarves refer to him as "Beardcutter". Sure, those are basically "Goblin Slayer" but translated into their respective language, but the fact still stands that at the very least, Elves as a whole hold him in high regard. I think the Elves even have a legend regarding Goblin Slayer. And there's the fact that High Elf Archer, Dwarf Shaman, and Lizard Priest were sent specifically by their races to enlist Goblin Slayer's help.

Only partway into the video, so you might bring this up, but this series seems to directly draw from a famous DnD story: Tucker's Kobolds. The story can be boiled down to be pretty simple: a dungeon master was struggling to find an enemy his part of friends, all very close to the end of the power curve in DnD (close to level 20), would find remotely challenging. Most of them could one shot any enemy of their level, and their mage and cleric covered all their holes in terms of healing and utility. Finally they were presented with a huge sprawling dungeon, with the promise of many epic and dangerous creatures to hunt. However, in order to reach these epic enemies, they would first have to penetrate past the first level of the dungeon: a kobold nest: Naturally the players went into this first level pretty confident. They had slain dragons, massive chaos creatures and many other epic foes. Kobolds? Was Tucker (their GM) serious? Oh if they only knew. The Kobolds in question had almost no hit points. At their level, a single unarmed attack would kill any given kobold. However, DnD doesn't quite work that way: a sufficient number of enemies removes almost all advantage you can gain from instantly killing one of them, as combing the remaining attacks together the player has 1 action to every 20 kobold action. In the bestiary, Kobolds are described as cunning, not clever, but with a certain skill with traps and fighting in small tunnels. The tunnels were filled with murder holes, huge pits that forced the slower members of the party to split from the faster members. The Kobolds used burning oil traps, natural cliffs in the cave system to throw giant rocks down at the party. When the party found an alternate path, they were ambushed from behind while simultaneously bombarded with firebombs from above. Each kobold attack did tiny amounts of damage, but that damage stuck and added up and up. Suddenly the party realised their potion supplies were dwindling. Their health bars became lower. The Kobolds showed no mercy. The mage (who had been holding the party together all this time) fell prey to a pitfall trap after a failed reflex save and died in a snake pit. The other players bolted. Whatever bosses may lurk beneath, they did not frighten the players as much as those tiny little Kobolds. The party escaped the kobold level by the skin of their teeth. They proceeded through the remaining boss levels, and despite missing a member and being incredibly low on supplied, using the basic combat tactics they'd perfect across many campaigns they managed to beat the dungeon. But all agreed the most dangerous obstacle they had fact in their DnD experience to date was tuckers Kobolds.

A basic problem of cumulative mobs. One of them is only a threat to a child. Two of them is a threat to a young adult. Three of them might be a threat to an average person. Five of them is a threat to a new adventurer. Ten of them is a threat to a small party of three. Fifteen of them a party of five. Twenty of them, a small village. Fifty of them, a large village. A Hundred of them can take a small town. Five hundred of them a large town. Five thousand of them can ravage a city. Goblins can mate with almost any female humanoid in most fantasy stories. They are birthed in batches, the victims being forced to birth until they are either dead or the goblins find more fertile victims (much like most Japanese-style orcs). The average maturation of a goblin happens within a couple of weeks to a month at the latest with some variable goblin species (mage/archer/warrior) type popping up at a ratio of 1:200 for mages, 1:75 for archers, and 1:50 for warriors with a Chief being bred around every 200 Goblins (Though new chiefs don't take over, nor start their own Warband, they are usually demoted to a lower position under the oldest and strongest Chief). A Chief is a sign that a goblin group has become a Warband. As they breed more, they begin to exponentially grow their forces. A small goblin problem can quickly become a very real threat if left alone for a perceived short amount of time. A goblin group that begins breeding from a group of 20, left alone for about three months, suddenly becomes a Warband of 200+. What was once a problem for that small village that everyone was ignoring had become a problem for a couple of small towns. No one would notice, because it was only small villages reporting goblin attacks after all. And hey, they stopped reporting about it after a while, wonder whatever happened to their goblin problem...

Respect and glory is zigzagged for Goblin Slayer and his kills. First off, the common villagers love him as he's the only experienced adventurer doing something about their problems in the first place. The silver adventurers view him as a mere scrub, taking grunt quests that are beneath them. Therefore devaluing their own silver rank indirectly. Naturally, anybody who quests with him even once will see his vicious and creative side as he systematically and methodically mows down goblins. And then there's the fact that he's a genuinely kind and sweet person underneath when there are no goblins involved. Finally, it is implied in the series, that the guild staff who truly appreciate what threat the goblins pose, respect Goblin Slayer, and hold those other silver adventurers who are only in it for fortune and glory, nothing short of absolute contempt.

Your last detail is really well conveyed by Guild Girl in Episode 2. When she's taking down the quest details from the farmer at 4:55, she has to present a proper professional facade to the "customer", and acknowledges that the goblins may well abduct women and murder everyone with a very detached tone of voice. As soon as he's gone, she slumps behind her desk for the privacy to allow her actual feelings of despair about the situation, with how few adventurers would care to slay goblins for such a minor reward. Then, when Goblin Slayer arrives, she seems genuinely happy to see him again, almost certainly be cause she appreciates how much he does with safeguarding the little people from goblins, unlike some of the other blowhard adventurers trying to impress her with tales of troll slaying. It's also a nice little detail that, while that farmer pays the money for the quest with a handful of brass coins, Goblin Slayer pays for his month's rent with Cow Girl's uncle with a big bag of gold coins. The little details like that help re-enforce just how seriously GS takes his job.

There are many details explained about how to kill goblins in that episode and most adventurers scoffed at it. Seriously if any of those noob adventurers asked GS about goblin slaying he would have a shit ton to say and might apply himself to carry the entire team so easily. I think Goblin Slayer is just a representation and an argument to simply appreciate those who do the work on the lowest ends of basicly anything in any field of work. If no one took care of Goblins, then they would eventually overpopulate and become a huge issue. Every adventurer thinks they are too good for the job and go for something else because its seen as something with more prestige behind it. Just remember the big plague that killed a third of Europes entire population in the middle ages. It didn't take some high mighty monsters to kill millions of people. Bad hygiene and a bunch of rats was all it took to wipe out a third of the total population of a continent. Granted there's more to that part of history, but the basics should still get it across. Some jobs simply need to be done or else society as a whole can suffer or even collapse or for the least a small system of its own can collapse. Goblin Slayer slays goblins out of revenge for his sister and because he knows deep down that someone has to do it. Since no one else seemed to care back then he goes for it. Farmers keep farming because if everyone felt like they were above it, then no one would be making food....or everyone would work their butt off to get food going. Getting some potatoes, veggies and some meat on the table is a primary concern for everyone, yet not everyone is interested to grow their own plants and if they are meat eaters raise a pig just to get some bacon in the morning. They are barely appreciated but are absolutly needed in our system. If no one would make a shop to repair a car, you would have to learn it yourself. who has the time and will for that? If there was no Janitors in Hospitals, doctors and nurses would have to spend time of their own to clean up the place to prevent bacteria to infect the people that are in the building. They have more than enough to do even without cleaning up. The list of examples goes on. Society as a system has high tier and low tier jobs. Not everyone wants to do low tier jobs, but someone has to do them to keep the bigger system running as it is and we should appreciate those people that chose to do that, so that we can focus on other things. Goblin Slayer kills Goblins and by doing so allows all the other heroes to focus on different problems. That's my take on this. Appreciate the people that do the job that you are not willing to do.

In a later arc during the harvest festival, a dark elf is doing evil stuff (using goblins as foot soldiers, naturally) that the GS gang puts a stop to. But in standing in his way, they force the dark elf to use a fancy magic weapon that draws power from an evil god or some shit, and the Hero, in a metaphysical realm to fight said god, notes that the god is distracted by the physical realm and wonders why before beating its ass. The last 8 months have been hell, because my only partner took a better job in another town and it left me doing the job if 2 1/2 people (I frequently take on more work than I'm required). Nobody at all applied for the position in 8 months. 20 bucks an hour, BCBS Healthcare, dental and eye, union benefits. The whole nine yards. When I was forced to finally use my PTO before the end of the fiscal year, I couldn't escape the notion that doing so was a real gut shot to everyone I work with because *nobody* in the DPW wants to cover my job. None of them want to do it, and often times it just goes undone if I have a day off or take time off or, like last month, get covid. Nobody wants to do my job, so I'm the only one who does it. We finally hired a guy last week and he was the only applicant. A 60 year old man looking for retirement work. A real awesome guy too, but its so true how Nobody wants to do the job of a janitor; but without them shit gets gross.

Since you've already gotten into spoilers I can correct a plot point that many easily get confused about. The Sword Maiden didn't murder anyone, she misrepresented some murders in the city as goblin victims to attract the Goblin Slayer. In reality it was Demon Lord followers committing ritualistic murders. The conversation where all this took place was poorly written in the light novel, poorly translated into the manga, and poorly written in the anime. This is a lot of discussion of the Sword Maiden's conversation with the Goblin Slayer because of it and this is a part that's easily lost to the audience.

My first ever D&D mission I ran with a group of 5 somewhat experienced players whose characters ranged from level 8 to level 14 and another new player was against a Goblin infested cave. No joke, the mission was chosen BECAUSE it was Goblins, and the other players felt it would be a good way to ease the two of us into the game. Since they were already in a campaign, they had us create level 5 characters so we wouldn't be completely useless. Cut an hour and a half into the mission and we've infiltrated the cave and dealt with a pincer attack from two ogres and a swarm of goblins; that should have been our warning that our DM wasn't fucking around, but we didn't take it. A bit further in we attempt to ambush a group of goblins but end up triggering a counter ambush where we're surrounded by about 20 small goblins, with 7 goblin archers up on a ridge where we couldn't reach them, 3 Hobgoblins in the back blocking us from pushing forward, and a goblin caster who caused a cave in behind us to cut off our retreat and kept pelting us with spells while hiding out of sight so we couldn't counter attack. The level 14 warrior died, along with our level 12 caster and priest. The only ones who made it out were myself and the other new player (assuming the DM went easy on us.), our level 9 archer and another warrior who was level 10 who had to be dragged out during our retreat. Long Story Short, don't underestimate Goblins. (Reason the DM gave for the difficulty of the mission was the fact the group had ignored it for weeks, and went with the high breeding rate as to why there were so many. What's also interesting about the goblins is that they can also be quite powerful. The champions and such are the equivalent of a platinum level adventurer, according to Goblin Slayer. Which means that plenty of other leaders or guardians are above porcelain level, yet that's what normally gets sent out to hunt goblins. So not only are the newbie adventurers poorly equipped in terms of knowledge as to how best fight goblins, they can actually be out-leveled by them as well. And then tie that into the stigma of goblin hunting... the goblin group would most likely have to make a bit of a splash before some stronger adventurers would come gunning for them. Which might be well by the group that wiped out Goblin Slayer's village was able to get big enough to do that. And those goblins get to be the bigger, nastier, smarter versions in part because they are being fought by porcelain adventurers. Due to that, some goblins are more likely to survive when their nest is attacked, and it is those survivors, with the experienced gained, that become the leaders/guards that turn the supposedly wimpy goblins into actual threats to villages. But with Goblin Slayer around, that changes. He tends to pick the nastier goblin quests when there are multiple, thereby providing another positive benefit to society. By taking the tougher goblin quests, he makes it more likely that newbie adventurers will survive and grow to become stronger. Furthermore, because he exterminates the entire nest, he cuts off their progression, thereby making nastier nests a less common occurrence, which in turn means the porcelains are more likely to survive their starting adventure. Which means instead of goblins surviving and growing stronger, causing more havoc, adventurers are surviving, growing stronger, and putting a stop to more havoc.

That doesn't seem to be the case. The one we've seen clobbered Goblin Slayer pretty badly, and he's a specialist at killing goblins (and fights very dirty, when the dumb elf doesn't try to limit his options). He did get it to retreat, but he also dropped in that fight. Had the goblins not suffered a morale failure, that would have been a TPK. I'd say at the very least, they're above silver, requiring a party of silvers to take down. And no doubt we haven't seen the nastiest goblin yet.

This reminds me of the Sewer Urchin episode of the The Tick animated series. All of the superhero Sewer Urchin's friends nickname him "Stinky" and underestimate him because he is a stinky and very introverted person who spends most of his time in the New York City sewers. While the superheroes are all having coffee together in a cafe, a bunch of sanitation workers come in to respectfully ask Sewer Urchin for his assistance again against the Slime People. The superheroes Tick and Arthur go down into the sewers to help Sewer Urchin. Its then they both realise that Sewer Urchin is actually a very respectable superhero (being skilled, athletic and brave), has his own house sized lair and owns hundreds of thousands of dollars due to being able to gather all the currency that gets flushed down into the sewers They also find out that the Slime People are deadly enemies when they want to be. That cartoon episode seems similar to this anime because it seems to have three shared themes. One is that someone who focuses mostly on seemingly "minor" issues may actually be very skilled in general. The second is that minor issues to society can be bigger than most people realise. The third is that there are many issues in society that are only being dealt with by small groups of overworked people with limited resources

From my reading of the manga, I'm getting an implication (specifically from the portal mirror) that there is some kind of goblin invasion going to occur. Other stuff (See below, warning for SPOILERS) also adds to this, and so it makes sense that whoever/whatever is orchestrating this will be the final boss/BBEG. It makes sense though - the BBEG is quietly building up his forces of goblins around the world, letting their numbers and resources develop until they can quite literally overwhelm every settlement all at once, whilst the powerful adventurers are focussed on the 'real threat' of dragons, demons and such like. SPOILER BELOW: . . . . . . . . . . The Goblin Paladin's forces were shown to be using a much larger force, and intended on expanding their resources and abilities. Possibly as a natural part of a goblin hordes progression, but also possibily as being a branch of a much larger network. Furthermore, were shown that goblins work with cultists, and so it seems inevitable that a BBEG demon lord might be using the goblins as a secret weapon.

Honestly why people underestimate Goblin so much. It seems out of the monster in the series they are creature with the most potential to evolve just like human. Depending on their resources they might even reach Gold Ranked Adventurer just like Goblin Paladin. Sure majority are weak, but those are because they are the young one, once they reach adulthood they become Hobogoblin or Shaman. This is not to mention the fact that this creature reproduce super fast meaning if no one do it, their population will blew up just like Rat in New york. I thnk people in Goblin Slayer world really need some schooling. If you have free time defeating some Demon Army remains who can barely pick themselves up, do some charity work by killing Goblin.

Thanks for this. One of the best takes on the show that I've seen. Two objections, though. First, a nitpick. Priestess and Sword Maiden belong to different religions, worshipping different God. Priestess follows the Earth Mother, while SW worships the flashier Supreme God. It barely matters, but still... Second, I still believe the overall arc of the series is less about bigger-and-badder foes (though they have and, I believe, will get bigger-and-badder) but more about the slow healing of the deeply traumatized GS. IMO, he was and still is consumed by guilt and shame, and this has stunted his development into a one-dimensional, well, goblin slayer. But Priestess attaching herself to him after he saved her started very slowly opening him up to the possibility that he might be worth of more than atoning for the goblin attack that killed his sister and rest of his village right in front of his eyes. You might say he shouldn't feel shame or guilt in the first place, but listen to how he talks about his sister. Earlier, while mentioning the theory that goblins come from the Green Moon, he says that his sister was never wrong; then in this latest ep, he remembers how he fought with young Cow Girl out of envy for her trip into town, prompting his sister to scold him with something like, "Envy creates goblins"... and that night, goblins attack. Even his ambitions to be an adventurers are a source of shame. He notes that he wanted to leave big sister behind and become an adventurer -- the same big sister who hid him from the goblins rather than hiding herself. And then, from hiding, he watched what they did to her. The same thing they would have done had a few more years gone by and he had left her behind as he planned. Anyway, what I hope is that we find that GS managed to forgive himself, accept his past, and find something more for his future than obsessive battles against goblins. I think that's where the stories are going, but I suppose we'll have to wait and see.

The way the Goblin Slayer is so adept at killing goblins and his understanding of their habits reminded me of Hog Hunters and wild pigs. Hog Hunters don’t just kill the feral pigs aimlessly. They remove them from the area completely, just as the Goblin Slayer does to goblins. Hog Hunters understand the habits of wild pigs and use this information to their benefit to trap and kill 10-15 at a time, including pregnant sows that carry multiple piglets. Also, the Goblin Slayer understands that goblins are a threat in more ways than one, just as Hog Hunters to wild pigs. Wild Hogs destroy farmlands not just by eating the crops, but by defecating in the surrounding areas which can lead to the spreading of diseases. Hogs have also attacked and killed people on occasion.

This comment's more for people saying "Oh Goblin slayer is just a nut job who only cares to sate his unending murderboner for goblins" (Yes he is a bit of a nut job, then again, who TF isn't after severe mind-warping trauma) He DOES hate the little buggers with an overwhelming passion. But he also does it because killing Goblins is a necessary thing to make a society safe. He literally says it in... Episode 2 or 3. "Before the Demons destroy the world, Goblins will destroy the villages" Yeah, it was because of trauma, but you could go through what he did, and miss that massively crucial point. He knows he does good, but he knows that his efforts alone aren't making a dent in goblin populations, something you get to learn within the first 3 episodes, that, despite YEARS of this, he hasn't been lowering Goblin population by anything versus their growth. When you are the only skilled person say... cleaning a city's sewers of shit and piss, making sure no backups happen, all else being newbies who just wash out after an hour, that after years of trying, you make no permanent progress, you stop valuing the individual accomplishments, and only focus on the bigger picture. It's a FUNDAMENTAL flaw of your common adventurer. They all want the ultimate glory, but lack the foresight to see the bigger picture, and instead only see what's right in front of them. The biggest Glory? Killing the Demon Lord. Everyone's gunning to do it, because it's the most popular, and requires no foresight. Goblin Slayer, instead KNOWS of Goblin Lords and Champions, and should then therefore know that, Goblins can become a stupidly huge problem if left alone for too long, and so he works to mitigate the problem from getting so big that a Goblin King arises. Which... you can only have a Lord with a seriously stupid mess of goblin subjects, at least that's how it will probly go. Nobody wants the glory-less jobs, even if they're the most important, just like nowadays, people tell you to not work as a trashman, or a city worker, despite the fact that people working those jobs typically KNOW that their job is instrumental to a City's smooth operation. Goblin Slayer is a man seeking Glory in doing what is truly important. Goblins would probably keep being a problem in a post-humanity world where the Demon Lord won and the world is his domain. Goblins are Literally D&D's Cave Aids.

And he explains that he has two older brothers who are also healers, much more powerful than himself. The middle brother can cure small illnesses before they become major diseases, and so his name never leaves the village. The eldest brother is so powerful he can see the very spirit of illness itself and destroy it before it can even manifest, so people think he does nothing and no one outside their house speaks of him. But the youngest brother doctor performs operations, mixes complicated potions, and massages damaged tissue, and so he's known the world over. I haven't watched this show yet (I don't mind some spoilers) but it seems very much in keeping with Sun Tzu's Art of War, just going by this video. Maybe. I dunno. Looks great tho.

Goblins are the poor man’s problem. They usually aren’t strong enough to be considered a military threat, so instead of the military taking care of them the poor man needs to fund the quests themselves. It’s not that they aren’t considered dangerous, adventurers just don’t think it’s worth the meager pay, which is why new adventurers are left to take goblin slaying quests.

Demonlord: Was killed by 3 heros Goblinkind: Going stronger than ever The goblins are the strongest monster overall. They managed to deceive the whole world. If they would go on to kill demons and dragons, they would switch to easy mode. For some reason most people, in RL and gobling slayer, just fail to put facts together and don't understand that the goblins are the high tier super monsters. I think if Goblinkind would go to war against all Demons they would have killed the demonlord too.

Reminds me of a D&D campaign I ran back in 3.5. The party started off fighting goblins, which eventually turned into a goblin army. Then you find out the big bad of the campaign was using the goblins for years as a diversion to keep everyone's focus off of his own plans. One of the players complained that they were constantly fighting just goblins, as they heard NPCs complaining about before. I asked him 'why do you think that would be, from a narrative perspective?' watching his eyes widen as he started go get it was so nice.

Just finished watching Goblin Slayer and there was an episode that had the girl with the lie detector skill say something that summed up the video. She said justice is not the absence of evil but acknowledgment and fight against evil. And the narrative of the whole show speaks against mr kage's statement ... plenty people walked over the goblins and got better to the point where they could kill anything including goblin's and not bat an eyelash. No one is pretending not to be afraid of them but where most other creatures kill u or eat you on the spot goblins are the lowest ranking monsters that can do far worse to you. So the only way to know the fear of a goblin is to have experienced a loss which most high leveled adventurers never will unless there was some odd ambush situation which as the narrative has been dictating is even less likely.
@caiusdrakegaming8087
@caiusdrakegaming8087 4 жыл бұрын
Kind of like in D&D. Most high CR monsters just want to kill or eat you, but goblins are some of the smartest low-CR monsters, and one of the few that have Pack Fighting which lets them do big damage if they group up on someone. Aka, if they ambush you with high numbers. In Goblin Slayer, those ambushes are rare. They only happen because some rookies think they're stronger than they are, like the Priestess's group did. There was only four of them, and they underestimated their enemy. Just like what happens with a low level party if they underestimate a goblin encounter. GS doesn't really have justice on his side, it's just vengeance. Vengeance, for what happened to his sister. It's why the Demon Lord didn't really seem like a big deal or concern, demons aren't the monsters who traumatized him, goblins are. His reasoning, while it makes sense, is flawed in one aspect. Goblins breed faster than humans. They can't really be wiped out completely, least not from how it seems in Goblin Slayer. Goblins seem to be born within like a couple of months after the humanoid female being impregnated, so if anything goblins can outpace a month human birthrates with double or even triple at minimum. GS is fighting a battle he can probably never win. His thirst for vengeance will probably lead him to getting killed by a warband of goblins large enough to wipe out any kingdom they want. It's kind of clear he is absolutely obsessed with killing every single goblin he sees or hears about. It may seem like he's calm and calculated about it all, but have we ever seen him without his helmet in these fights? Do we forget one of his eyes glows red when he's slaughtering goblins? He goes into a psychotic rage when faced against goblins, a rage that seems to control him completely in fights. His mind blanks, body acts in reflexes and muscle memory, and he;s only snapped out of it when there no goblins left to fight, or he encounters something stronger-than-average like a goblin champion. Those are the only times we ever get to hear him think, when he stops slaughtering. These are the only times we ever get to hear him speak or think. Many see him as some visual of the low paying jobs and such, and that he's justified in what he's doing because of his past. I can't deny it's true. But, he's acting on trauma. The trauma of his sister and all the females of his village being raped, killed, and eaten by the goblins. His mentor did not help in this trauma either, using it to push GS harder and harder. What we get, is yes a man who is highly trained killer, but also one with a mental issue. His trauma is used to fuel his reasoning for why he's doing this, but he shows no signs of ever WANTING to get over his trauma. He let it consume him.
