I have coax throughout my house already and was looking to see if I could get something better than ethernet over powerline. I remembered that they used this technology for lighting up data connections for hotel rooms that always have coax but usually are lacking ethernet connectivity. Happy to see that these have 2.5GB speeds with low latency which will be a great option for the price. Saves me a ton of work running new CAT6.

I bought Kiwee 2.5 gbe MoCa adapters right before the Gocoax 2.5 gbe adapters came out. The go coax adapters look great. I bought 2.5 gbe switches for each room to make sure there were no bottlenecks so the wired connections are all the same over the house until they hit the clients. Download speeds via MoCa have been great. Download around 1400 mbps on a 1200 mbps subscription (over provisioning by the ISP). Also wireless speeds have increased to 850 mbps download by wiring up most of the devices in my home freeing up wifi channels. Great video!

I just got my two MOCA 2.5 adapters from ActionTech/ScreenBeam. I was upgrading from two PowerLine adapters which didnt have very good speeds. It was pretty much plug and play and worked great out of the box. Now I can get my full bandwidth of 500/500 Up/Down from my Office Frontier router (for internet only not TV) to my bedroom which had the COAX wired already where I used to have one of my Cable DVR setups. Now I dont have to ise wifi and get limited speeds for steaming. Great stuff. keep it up

I've been using MoCA adapters in my home since 2017. Dead solid reliable, and saved me a lot of hassle of running ethernet throughout my house. My house was built in 2017 and for some strange reason the builder only wired it with coax, but had no ethernet. Those Comcast speeds you get are impressive... I thought I was doing good to get 900mbps up/down from AT&T fiber.

Lon, great video. I’ve installed over 50 Moca networks, mostly using the popular Actiontec units and others. Does security feature isolate clients when 2-16 are on a single network? Or must we use vlans to achieve isolation. Do these pass through vlan information. MOCA runs at 1150 to 1400 MHz, so you must be very careful of splitters. Most splitters for Comcast and other cable networks only go up to 1000 MHz. Try to avoid splitters with more than 2-3 outputs because power loss is great. A 2-way splitter loses 50% and a three way (5dB) loses about 70%. Terminations on unused ports prevent reflections causing interference.

I know it won't interrupt my TV service. I recently got switched to one of those little Android set top boxes a lot of ISPs now have. So now the only thing on the coaxial cables is a cable modem. My ISP allows for 2 cable modems so I could get a second one if I wanted it.

It works really well overall, just adds 2-3ms of latency over regular cat5/6 connections. I used it in our 250 year old house to get a connection from the upstairs room where our modem and home server are to our electrical closet downstairs that happened to have a cat5e line running through the basement to a detached garage office for a phone line. Spliced into it and now we got hardwired networking in the living room, guest bedroom and garage office.

We live in the Arkansas Ozarks and only have internet via DSL. Phone company tech support says MoCA won't work although they have a MoCA feature in their modem that they can enable. They say this won't work here but a Google answer says it wil if the MoCA is only being used as an ethernet bridge and with no tv service on the coaxial cables there should be no interference either. Wondering if you can tell me your experience or ideas. So our modem doesn't have a coax fitting. It only has a WAN port and 2 ethernet ports. One runs my computer and the other one runs Mom's so I put a switch in with more ports as we hardwired our tv. We have NO WIFI and don't want it either and the powerline option seems to put a dirty electricity signal on the 60 Hz wave so I don't want that either. I'm trying to find a way to get hardwired tv into our bedrooms. We do have an unused coax throughout the house. We bought Roku enabled tv's, their 4k series, has ethernet so....not sure this will work here and would appreciate any input.THANK YOU!

Do you have any advice for running two MoCA networks on the same cable. FIOS STB (TV Boxes) requires the use of their Verizon router which runs MoCA 1.5. Adding a second MoCA network would require the second network to be isolated by ensuring this network is on a different frequency than the Verizon router. The Verizon router is set up to run in bridge mode and is used only to provision and provide a MoCA network to the STB's. Thanks

My plan is to get internet from the Gateway and have the internet travel through the MoCA device, to a splitter, then through 3 different coax cables. One of the coax cables will feed a second MoCA device and then feed a router. I would use Ethernet cables to feed to my PC and printer from the router. my actiontec/screenbeams came with all the splitters (2x) and CAT5.e (2x)cables and Coax wires (2x) that you need to set it all up along with the MOCA adapters and power plugs. One end of COAX coming in from Internet service goes to MOCA #1 box and split the other end to your router. then 1 ethernet cable from the router to the MOCA#1 box. then in the other remote room you attach MOCA #2 box to the coax in that room and the ethernet cable from the COAX #2 box will got to whatever device you want to get faster internet. I have my COAX #2 box hooked up to a Gigabit 8 ot 10 port switch and thern all my remote devices like TV, Roku, Play station ,etc will hook up with Cat 5/6 cables to the switch. works like a charm. be sure to power on MOCA box #1 first and get the green lights and then power / plug in MOCA box #2 and it should all just work.

Honestly, the lack of a splitter is a pro, not a con in my opinion. You don't have to take the signal loss of a splitter if you don't need it, whereas if it was built in you're taking the signal loss introduced by the splitter even if you don't use the downstream output. "It's not that much" you might say, but what if you have three devices at one drop, a modem, a TV, and your MoCA adapter? A single three way splitter will get you less signal loss than two cascaded two-way splitters. Yes, this version is a little more work, but it saves some cost and is actually more flexible
@Placesandspaces353 жыл бұрын
Do you think that is why they omitted the pass through on this version? For my set up I terminate the set top box coax port on all of my Moca adapters except the one connected to modem/ router so not a big deal I don’t think.
