It's definitely my favorite, but I'm biased as a Cards fan. His Kirk Gibson call was awesome too! Goose bumps on both

I was there! I was a 16 year old kid way out in the left field stands with my dad. Was one of the few times me and my dad ever hugged each other. Thanks for that memory Ozzie!

My Dad quoted this all the time, and was a lifelong Cardinals fan so it will always have a very special place in my heart (esp. as a Missourian).

Smith corks one down the line, it may go... Go crazy folks go crazy! It's a home run and the Cardinals have won the game by the score of three to two on a home run by the Wizard... Go crazy!

It's the "by the Wizard" that always cinches it for me. What a call.

Only a few people know Ozzie hadn't hit a homer from that side of the plate in 3009 at bats! I watched it live as a teenager and I'll never forget it.

+Edward Giangrosso Batting left handed, no less (Smith was a switch hitter and normally batted right handed). Poor Tom Niedenfuer...talk about a rough series. He gave up the game winner here to Smith, and another game winning home run (and series winner, as it turned out) in the next game. At least the second one was to a legit power hitter (Jack Clark).

FreedMike do you remember the cameras on Lasorda's face in the Dugout before Clark's Home Run? He said should I walk him and Pitch to that motherfuking van slyke? He should have walked him haha

When they put that statistic up about how long it’s been since Ozzie had a Homerun right before he hit the homer, it’s almost like you knew he was gonna go yard.

Who would have guessed that it would be almost two decades (19 years) before these 2 historic organizations would play each other in the playoffs? In 1987 the Cardinals won the East, but the Dodgers finished 4th (73-89), in the West. In 1988 the Dodgers won the West (94-67-1) while the Cardinals finished 5th in the East (76-86). In the '90s, both the Dodgers and Cardinals would only qualify for the playoffs once. That would be in 1996 for both teams. Thanks to the expanded playoff format, the Dodgers would earn a wild card berth with a record of (90-72). They finished 1 game back in the West behind the Padres but had the best record for the NL teams that didn't win their division. Meanwhile, the Cardinals won the Central with a record of (88-74). Both teams would be eliminated by the Atlanta Braves. The Dodgers would be swept 3-0 in the NL Division Series. While the Cardinals would advance to the NLCS after sweeping the Padres 3-0. The Cardinals .would go on to lose to the Braves 4-3 in the NLCS despite leading the Braves 3-1 in a best of 7 series. The 2000 Cardinals would finish 1st in the NL Central (95-67) and go on to the NLCS, where they would lose, to their old NL East rival the, Mets 4-1. The Dodgers finished second with a 86-76 record. In 2001 the Cardinals would qualify for a WC spot (93-69) and lose to Arizona 3-2. Meanwhile, the Dodgers finished 3rd in the West (86-76). In 2002 the Dodgers would once again miss the playoffs finishing 3rd 92-70. While the Cardinals (97-65) advanced to the NLCS.losing to the Giants 4-1. Then after 19 years, the Dodgers and Cardinals would finally meet in the 2004 NLCS. The Cardinals would win this best of 5 series 3-1. The Cardinals would go on all the way to the World Series (1987 was the last time) only to be swept by the Red Sox.
