I tell people to pray to the milk container in their fridge and then record the results and see how many times the milk container answered their prayers. It turns out milk containers answer prayers at the exact same rate as God and random chance. Who would have thought 🤔 Praise the all mighty Milk container

I prayed every night as an elementary schooler, that my classmates would stop sexually abusing me and bullying me. I prayed while I was raped. I prayed after I was raped. It seems none of these assaults were important enough for their god to intervene in. I'm happy god helped them find their keys, or partner or whatever. Just wish he'd spared me a single moment. Maybe I wasn't a faithful enough child? Who knows. All I know is I'd never worship a god who would allow those things to happen to me.

25,000 people including 10,000 children die of starvation every day. Many of them pray to god for food. Their prayers seem to go unanswered. Praying to an imaginary being called god doesn't help at all. Children prayed to be saved when they were molested or murdered and god only watched after making it happen.

Yesterday i asked someone what exactly are they referring to when they use the word God? They said God is a spirit. I asked if we have any way whatsoever to confirm that spirits exist? They said. No, and we can't comprehend God with our intellect. Then they went on to say if i just close my eyes and listen with my heart and shut off my mind God will reveal himself. So they say God is s spirit then say we have no way to confirm that spirits exist. Then say we can't comprehend God, then they tell me what to do for God to reveal himself. Every sentence contradicted the one before it, these people are hilarious.

This reminds me of that old story of the hunchback who prayed and jumped into the holy water at Lourdes. Sure enough he exits the water minus his hump. The next hunchback prays and jumps into the water. Unfortunately he comes out with two humps !

There were two friends who both suffered from physical disabilities from childhood. One had a deformed spine that gave him a hump and bent him over, and the other had a club foot. We'll call them "Humpy" and "Clubby" and they met every Wednesday night at Frog and Firkin for a couple of ales and commiserated with each other. One night, Humpy puts down his half empty beer and tell his club footed friend, "I've had enough. I can't live with this hump any longer. I'm going to walk out to the lake over by the reserve and drown myself. Goodbye! Thanks for the friendship!" And off he humped. Out the door of the pub and across the reserve to the edge of the lake and started to prepare himself mentally for what he was about to do. Suddenly, there was a searing white light from above and a booming voice said, "It's g0d here. I know what you are about to do to yourself. Why are you doing this?" Humpy replies, "Lord! I have had this deformed spine since birth which has given me a hump and I have walked bent over every day of my life. I just can't take it any more and I want to end it!" G0d replies, "You know suffering is a part of life, right? And there is a much better afterlife that awaits you!" Humpy says, "I know! But I have suffered enough and will take that better afterlife right here and right now!" G0d thinks about this and decides that such an action undertaken because of the suffering he himself inflicted would set a really bad example. And just like that, he used his omnipotence to make the hump disappear and set the man's spine perfectly straight. G0d says, "I've decided that it is not your time and you are healed. I have taken your hump from you and your troubles now rest with me. Go back and enjoy the rest of your life!" Humpy just can't believe what has happened. He turns around a sprints back to the Frog and Firkin where Clubby is having an extra beer. Clubby can't believe how Humpy has been healed but he is really happy to see him again. Humpy tells him what just happened and says, "You gotta go, mate! Across the reserve and down the edge of the lake! You'll be a different man afterwards!" And so off Clubby went, hobbling across the reserve and down to edge of the Lake, where he stops and stands looking across the water. Suddenly, there was a searing white light from above and a booming voice said,"It's g0d here. I wasn't expecting so see you here. What are you doing?" Clubby says, "I've suffered with this club foot since the day I was born!" G0d asks, "so have you come down to this lake to end it all?" Clubby says, "No! It's been awful and I've suffered a lot, but it's no so bad that I want to top myself." And then g0d goes *SPLAT* and says, "Here! Have a hump that I just happened to have in my pocket!"

It's amazing. I wonder how that happened. Perhaps it is the source of camels, dromedaries, and humpback whales. A dwarf prayed to be taller, dived in and drowned. The water was over his depth. A person prayed to help them stop smoking, and it worked. The cigarette was a soggy butt end when they surfaced. An instant miracle because they stopped smoking that one.

God could intervene and still not violate your free will. If i choose to steal a car i could either successfully steal the car or not successfully steal it but whether im successful or not i can still freely choose to steal a car right? And if the cops stop me they didn't thwart my choice to steal the car. I still chose to steal the car, I'm just bad at stealing cars or they're really good at stopping me right? So you don't want to make the mistake of conflating the free choice itself with the outcome of the choice. I either fail or succeed or someone stops me stealing the car. But i was still free to choose to steal the car no matter the outcome, it doesn't thwart my freewill. So God could send the cops to stop me stealing a car every single time i tried and it would not violate my free choice to steal a car. And God gets exactly what he wants, he gets agents that can choose good or choose evil but there's no evil because he doesn't let it happen and not letting it happen doesn't thwart anyones freewill.

Christian would say god didn't want to create robots that followed ordered, god wanted us to freely choose to love and that love isn't love if it's not freely chosen and it's forced on you. They'd say that also opens the door for us to choose evil. I'm saying we can still choose to do evil even if it's prevented every time we choose it. Just like we could choose to do good but someone stops us or we just don't don't go through with it, we still freely chose it. It doesn't take away our free will to choose

Intercessory prayer has actually been studied and found totally ineffectual. People get better from things sometimes, sometimes those people got prayed for by someone who’s religious. The religious person assumes a connection but there is none, we literally looked and found 0 correlation.

It happened 9 times and only one of those 9 time someone prayed for being healed? How many times when people with bone cancer have prayed and they got not healed and died? Just googled, we have about 80000 cases of bone cancer every year. Even if only 1% of those people prayed to be healed, that would still be 800 people every year who pray to be healed and over all those years only one got healed. Great success story. What if if 3 of those people who got rid of the cancer tapped 10 times their own nose before the cancer went into remission. Does that mean that tapping had a causal relationship? Possibly, but very unlikely. Maybe 7 of those 9 have worn a levis jeans for at least 3 days in their youth. Is that a potential reason for the remission? Sure, possible but also very unlikely.

I have proof there is no god, based on personal experience. At least 5 times in my life of 70 years, I came within a fraction of a second to a minute where I would almost certainly have been killed if I hadn't been lucky. All of this occurred when I believed in god. After becoming an atheist for 24 years ago, I have had no close calls with death. (I disagee with myself.) When my 4 month old grandson was 4 months old, he almost died in my arms. His heart stopped 4 times in the ambulance on the way to the hospital, and he was revived. He was in the gospital for 6 months (from MRSA in his lungs). I didn't pray and neither did my wife. I joked to my grandson at age 19 that, "See, your living is proof that NOT praying works." I did NOT joke that, "Look, prayer doesn't work, I prayed that you would die, but you lived."
