Its basically a Mafia goon coming and telling you to pay up or they'll break your legs. Only worse because its not a goon, its someone coming to tell you to pay up to a Mafioso who you've never heard of and there is no evidence that he, or his leg breakers, even exist. In fact, the person telling you to pay has never even seen the Mafioso or his goons, he only heard about them from someone else, who heard it from someone else and so on. Utter insanity.

I live in Scotland, where the figure is around 1/10, and I'm 56 and I can literally count on the fingers of one hand, the number of active Christians I've actually known. @@pepperachu Yeshua was a character that people made up to a god where they really have no evidence of existence. Do you know for sure DOB of Yeshua? "he hasn't once begun to fade during the History of about the last 2000 years" How does it prove his existence? it's clear that Constantine's conversion had a profound impact on the spread and development of Christianity. Without it, Christianity might not have become the dominant religion in Europe and the Mediterranean as quickly or extensively as it did. Why is the story of Moses almost identical to Jesus? A lot of biblical scholars recognize it. We also do not have any evidence of Moses outside of the Hebrew bible. Egyptians kept very good historical notes and there is no reference of Moses there. show me historical documents where jesus as son of god is called by the name outside of the bible. I'll wait.

I find conversations like this one so revealing. It's rare you get someone honest enough (and uncritical enough) to flat out admit that the only reason he worships god is fear. Usually they twist and change the goal posts and avoid direct confrontation with this bald fact, but this guy is too invested to even comprehend why there's anything wrong with worshiping someone purely because they have power over you. This is how they think. This is how they view the world. Might makes right. Zero empathy. It really makes pointing out the logical holes a bit useless, because they just are not on a level to see them.

Amanuel's logical fallacy is Argumentum ad Baculum (Appeal to the Stick), which is summarized as "My claim is true because if you say it's false I will hurt you." (Note that he is the victim of the fallacy, not its perpetrator.) It's a variation of the Appeal to Consequences fallacy. The bizarre part is that it works even when the alleged negative consequences are dependent on the claim being true.

• Why God instead of judging me and sending me to"hell" doesn't sit with me and explain all this to me like a good loving father would do?if I'm God's child why God doesn't show up and explain to me who he is what his nature and purpose are and what I should do. instead he writes a letter and gives it to somebody else who gives it to somebody else, he has it translate it and passed around, why a personal God doesn't want to make a PERSONAL CONNECTION with his children/ creation? How can "God" if there's one, judge me? If he created me with an original sin, he messed up not me, now he wants to judge me? You don't create something and just because you messed it up you're going to destroy it,you look around, investigate to see where you went wrong, and try to fix it the same way you should created it, with love, knowledge and understanding. Something that God lacks obviously.

Humans have got to be among the most arrogant creatures in the Universe. Here we are, spinning helplessly on a wet ball of dust in orbit around an ordinary star in an obscure corner of an unremarkable galaxy that is just one of countless trillions of galaxies all separated by unfathomable distances, and most of us think we can have a personal relationship with a being that created it all and that it cares about us and pays attention to everything we think, feel, say, and do and judges us accordingly. But, that is not the full extent of our collective arrogance - we also feel qualified to define and speak on behalf of a being that created the Universe. But, wait, there's even more arrogance - most of us think such a being could be influenced by mere prayers. It's all just over the top.
