5:20 For me, one of the most overlooked aspects of OG games is how much Kratos fucking hates himself, more than Ares, more than Zeus. The first game opens with him trying to kill himself, and throughout the entirety of the Greek saga he continues to descend more and more into self-hatred. That’s way, by the end of Ragnarok, when he realizes that other people are finally able to look to him as something more than a monster, he is finally able to do the same thing. And that is really beautiful.
@kevind3974 Жыл бұрын
Agreed. I mean it’s what 3 times we see him attempt suicide. He tried to jump to his death in 1 Blow himself up in assention And stabbed himself in 3. Plus we know based on dialogue he tried one more time before meeting fay. I think he tried to drown himself on that one He fight against his fate just as much as he tries to kill himself. That a really sad irony

Best part of Ragnarok are the missions with Freya. When Kratos tells her his origin story it breaks her. The pain they've both been through and their trial of overcoming that is very well done

Now after the Valhalla dlc, We have come full circle, I am so proud of the character he has become, the character development he has gone through, possibly the best in gaming history. He has now accepted his past and no longer carries the same hate for himself, he truly is becoming the god of hope deserving of worship. A true hero. What a character, he will forever be in all our hearts.

1:52 I love this scene... Atreus is so sweet, he can't hold back his smile 'cause seeing his dad proud of him is all that he wants. And Kratos opening his heart like he never has done before it's so heartwarming. I feel like Kratos really needs this kind of relationships with other men, like a sort of brotherhood that reminds to him of his brother of blood Deimos and his brothers of army, the spartans. As a woman I really like this kind of masculinity, being a bit awkward but still loyal and caring. Manhood is heavy in this world of rage and war, but finally he manage to be vulnerable with Atreus, he apologize and he even cries.

You know, I was already really enjoying this by this point but when I realised you where putting “You are a memory” to the story kratos tells a the final section I new this was something special. This video is really well paced and has afantastic command of tone. My singular favourite editing choice you made is probably the paralleling of young Kratos with Freya at 7:26 right before the somber equivalent of a beet drop comes in a few seconds later. It had tough competition from the traumatic montage at 2:07, especially with how the soundscape builds until all that is metaphorically left of kratos’s past a roaring flames. On a slightly different point, it is my observation that you’re God of War edits, have particularly high quality clips of the Greek era games in terms of both audio and video. You definitely have the highest quality footage of either chains of Olympus or ghost of Sparta that I’ve seen. Have you ever considered uploading the footage you record for edits in to some kind of “video game editing resource” playlist? Seeing that there is a higher bar to entry for editing video games well, it might help more people make high-quality content. Regardless, this is a superb tribute and I just know I’m going to find myself rewatching this many, many times.
@AmaranthOff Жыл бұрын
Thank you so much, my friend. I'm always looking forward to your insightful comments and fantastic support, and this is a good one. I really appreciate everything! As for the greek era games, I decided to record everything myself, so that explains the high quality. I haven't really considered uploading my footage and audio. Still, I'm definitely not opposed to the idea. However, with KZbin's compression of videos, I doubt the footage would retain its full quality (still probably worth uploading). However, solely from an audio perspective, it would absolutely do wonders as a resource. I'll likely upload everything at some point. No clue when that will be, though. Once again, thank you so much for your support. It means more than you know. Cheers!
@rohanthomas4134 Жыл бұрын
You and your work are more than deserving of support, i’m glad to give it in a small way. As for the KZbin compression. I’m under the impression that there are certain tricks are content. Creator can use to decrease, but not eliminate the compression applied. Something to do with editing certain values before the upload occurs. I’m sure there’s resources out there about exactly that. Either way, the audio would be insanely useful to a bunch of people. (Including me, since I don’t actually have the hardware to play the God of war series, and have only experienced it as a story rather than a game) P.s. i’m something of a video editing person myself (the life has gotten in the way of making content recently) and seeing that you have expressed familiarity with Halo in the past I was wondering if you would share your opinion on one particular video I made. Namely the John 117 road to Infinite tribute I made in anticipation of Halo infinite releases. I’d be gratified to know what you think of it seeing that it is both my longest, and in my opinion, my best video. Link: kzbin.info/www/bejne/fnWVcqBpf8SMj68 Regardless, I look forward to seeing whatever future stuff you come out with.
@AmaranthOff Жыл бұрын
@@rohanthomas4134 I see. I'll look into the editing process to avoid KZbin's compression. As I said, I have no clue when I'll get it all together and have it uploaded, as life is about to get very hectic and exhausting soon. But I'll get there :)) As for Halo, I'm planning on doing a video at some point. Got all the footage and audio just need to put it all together, which is a task in and of itself. I'll absolutely check out your video when I get a chance. I checked out the first 5 minutes, and I can already tell that there has been a fantastic amount of care and attention to detail placed into the video. Cheers!
