Would have been similar in many other cultures, and particularly in Norse culture, where one of the most grievous insults was to call someone a bad host. There are tales in many different mythologies where people were punished and cursed for breaking the rules of sacred hospitality and others where people were rewarded for abiding by those rules.

Freya's people is mythologically an agriculture heavy culture, and those cultures usually care deeply for their families, especially offsprings. Like east Asian cultures. @@Ghost200x You are definetly right, i mean Freya telling Kratos that she would beat him is obvious joke... Kratos knows it, Mimir knows it and even Freya knows it. Honestly, her "vengeance" against Kratos always looked more like deathwish to me. She lost her son and was forcefully bound to the Midgard so that she could not leave. IMHO, she didn't want to live anymore and even if she could fatally wound Kratos, she would not leave that fight alive(or she would and Atreus would eventually hunted and killed her, maybe even with Odin's help). Kratos didn't want to fight and kill her, but she wanted him to. He is freakin' God of War, who literally wiped WHOLE PANTHEON of the beings like him and her. And after their mission in Vanaheim, where Kratos helped Freya break the Odin's curse, these thoughts were only reinforced. I mean if she really wanted to inflict pain and suffering on Kratos, she would've killed Atreus when he came to her(that would be even better vengeance than killing Kratos himself) AND was wearing the mistletoe shard which was responsible for breaking Baldur's curse(technically Baldur's death was more Atreus's fault than Kratos's, if he didn't have that mistletoe arrow shard, Baldur would be still alive). But she didn't want to. She couldn't. She wanted the one, who was capable of killing her.

Freya bragging how she would have won and killed him despite Kratos flat-out said in the fight and throughout the story he had no intention of killing or fighting her. @Urd-Vidan
@Urd-Vidan Жыл бұрын
I think that's the reason why Kratos said she could've killed him. He is no way shape or form capable to kill Freya out of the sheer guilt. He would've let her, but as a Spartan, he would've wanted a worthy warrior to kill him(he's fucking suicidal as seen in the last entries of the series). He wouldn't mind Freya killing him.
@praisemidir
@praisemidir Жыл бұрын
@@Urd-Vidan he still would not die durning the fight though. he would win even while holding back. which is proven by him beating odin , thor in this game. the greek gods were much higher diffuclty and the valhyries are nerfed versions of the sisters of fate. the last sister of fate on gow 2 on the hardest diffuclty is way harder than both freya and sigrun
@Urd-Vidan
@Urd-Vidan Жыл бұрын
@@praisemidir I meant he would let Freya kill him after a brief struggle, warrior's honor and death and whatnot. Also, no, Kratos is not holding back. He's not weaker now nor is he trying to give his opponents a chance. He's still the same person with the same strength and the same stats, he's just more controlled and doesn't lash out like a mad beast he was before. If you're concept of holding back is that he doesn't just rip everything in pieces and going in head first like some wild animal, then yeah, that he's holding back. They also really did want to kill Odin. Kratos is actually going all out to put him down, alongside Atreus and Freya. If you say that he wouldn't be going all out because he wants Freya to kill Odin, he can still go all out and let Freya do the killing blow. He's overpowered, but not to the degree you think him as.
@praisemidir
@praisemidir Жыл бұрын
@@Urd-Vidan but thor views it as holding back. when he let out his rage he punched the shit out of thor. control would work if kratos was any other war god but he is fueled on rage. on gow3 when you use spartan rage athena says "let the rage of sparta fuel your blade kratos" the angrier he is the stronger he is. also wdym not overwpowered. kratos beat cronos , zeus , posieden , hades , and reaaaly gaint creatures bigger than the ones on gow ragnorok. the idea that he is using the full strength of his spartan rage mode does not make sense because he beat much stronger enemies in the greek patheon

People always say Freya wouldn't stand a chance against Kratos, but actually I think if anyone COULD, it'd be her. Kratos respects her highly (he called her "impressive", could "imagine no more formidable ally", told her she "uses her anger effectively" which was a huge deal with Atreus last game, etc), she parallels him in MANY WAYS, hell she's practically the Norse Kratos in this story. A victim of the gods' cruelty, loses her son to a god she only ever HELPED, is fighting with her brother due to unfortunate misunderstandings, was the leader of her people and is clearly a fine warrior and magic-user. In their actual fight, during the cutscenes she actually comes out better off. At the very end, it's HER sword to HIS throat. People think she doesn't stand a chance... I think she very much DOES. She's too Kratos-like to not be capable of it. That's her POINT. She's SUPPOSED to be eerily similar to Kratos in those ways, it's how they bond so well once they start talking in Vanaheim. It's what leads her to forgiving him for Baldur.
