@GhostFaceOG7 жыл бұрын
For a "one-off" encore Dime was not bad at all, but I think the God of Metal got it right in setting Pantera's assigned roles. Phil was the right singer for that band IMO. Having played that role myself, I know how hard it can be. The voice is a muscle that requires hours of exercise, talent will only take you so far & the rest is work. That said any version of Whiplash I hear always falls short of Metallica's, ...I can't help but hear James. ;-) \m/

Pope St. Ghost how did it feel like to be in Phil's presence? stupid question probably but curious. also, would you go to one of Phil's concert right now? Forgot what band he's in..

Eddie Levit Honestly at the time it was just a great show, I wasn't in awe or anything like that "being in Phil's presence". My point of view was these dudes are out here trying to make it just like me, so there was respect. But I will say the vibe was definitely one were you knew they were "different " from ANYTHING on the scene at that time. The words polished and well honed come to mind, you can tell in that video they were already too big for a club act. Forever legendary now. Would I see one of Phil's shows now? Why not! Be it Superjoint Ritual or Down, I'd go.

A couple years later a friend and I went to the same venue for a concert advertised on the radio as a Pantera cover band called "Cowboys From Hell", so we thought hell yeah, let's check them out. It turned out to actually be Pantera playing a surprise gig as a warmup for their tour. By the end of the show apparently a few hundred people had shown up trying to get in when the word got out, which was amazing considering cell phones weren't a thing yet.

When Pantera were at the top of their game (90 to about 94) nobody wanted to follow their set... Proud to say i saw them live twice in that span, killer show both times. I just kick myself for not going to more shows...i actually lived just a few minutes drive away from their Pantego Texas party mansion and recording studio. RIP Dime and Vinny..
