I have the senior. I use it on my Minolta x700 and my mirrorless Sony and I love the results. I feel like the master would have a very cool look if using it with a Rollieflex. You would look like you work for a newspaper from the 40s.

@@Shawn_davidson that’s amazing!! Oh for sure, I’m actually planning on using it paired with my Graflex 4x5 press camera haha! I’ll hopefully share some results soon!

I have the same film camera Nikon F3 HP. What would be the pro and cons of using the cable versus the X3 trigger. Using the cable will not support the TTL feature correct ? If so how would you meter using the cable when shooting film. Any recommendations would be appreciated New to film photography and decided to pick up my first flash. Thanks for uploading this video.

@@ericlopez328 Hi Eric, happy to help. Yes that is correct, TTL functions will only work with cameras that had the corresponding TTL flash contacts, mostly the digital cameras. In the case of the Nikon F3 in combination with the Godox Flashes, you have 3 options full manual mode, first - where you’d meter the flash using a external flash light meter, or secondly by using the distance scale on the back of the flash to calculate your exposure. Third option is to use the Auto mode on the flashes, as noted Auto mode for the Lux Master can only be used in combination with the as-01 auto sensor. For the second part of your question, specifically for the Lux Master and X3 trigger. The X3 trigger will enable you to use the Lux Master off camera, so you can place the flash wherever you’d like enabling full creative control. For film cameras there no difference in terms of functionality beyond that, in terms of using a sync cable vs the wireless trigger. I do have a couple videos that maybe of interest to you on my channel. 1. How to use a flash with the Nikon F3 2. Godox Lux Master review 3. Godox Lux Cadet unboxing (this video I have an explanation of how to use the manual dial on the back to figure out your exposure) Hope this helps a bit!

Thanks for the quick response. I’ll watch these videos. For this set up in your video with the F3 and the X3 trigger are you able to use the TTL OR AUTO functionality having that combo ? I looked at the AS-01 cable and realized that I will also need to purchase an adapter for the hotshoe correct ? Would that be the AS-17 adapter or what’s another option for an adapter that would support auto ? Sorry 😅

@ With the X3 trigger you will only have manual functionality. If you don’t intend on using the flash far from the camera I would recommend purchasing the Nikon AS-4 (flash coupler for the F3) and then get the Godox AS-01 Auto Sensor for Lux Master, this way you will have access to the auto mode. Just a thought but plenty of options available!

How does the lux junior compare to the im30. The im30 is half the price in my country and is a little more powerful than the Lux jr (gn15/12). The sizes seem quite similar with most of the extra size perception being an optical illusion with the sq reflector being bigger on the L-jr but it goes right to the edge. I do like the guided dial and doubt I'd use the auto mode but I have with my old hanimex. The L-jr battery door seems better. Is it worth getting the lux junior for twice the price for the additional features? Is there something I'm missing in terms of the light spread or features in use? Recycle time, light spread etc? Or should I buy im30 for half the price? I just thought the Lux jr looked a little sturdier and cooler and the dial guide is nice but not sure of twice the price. It would be an everyday carry as I have the v1 and a 350tt and triggers for proper speedlite work. The advice even if just opinion would be appreciated

@@johnnytwo-shoes9798 Hey Johnny, great question! Starting off with a quick comparison, you have everything pretty nailed down, in practical applications the Lux Junior will be ~ 1/3 of a stop brighter than the iM30 so for example @ 7feet - ISO100 / 1/1 (full power) = F5.6 - Lux Junior & ISO100 / 1/1 (full power) = F5 - iM30. This is as you mentioned due to the larger reflector. In the Lux Junior you do get the Auto mode and exposure calculation dial, so if you intent on using it with an analog camera will definitely be of benefit especially the Auto mode. You won’t need carry around a light meter which will save you time in everyday situations. The light spread in particular is pretty similar and so is the recycling time, give or take for both parameters. Both flashes will perform great, if your budget allows it I’d get the Lux Junior, purely for the ability to use it in Auto using its built in sensor. For everyday shooting that’s something that’ll get very useful and will free you to take photos vs metering for the light. The iM30 is a great flash and most definitely an option especially with its entry price, very affordable. I do have a full review of the iM30 flash on my channel if you’re interested! Hope this helps!
