It's common for most CGI to be covered up by fog or bad lighting so that audiences don't notice how bad it is. Not saying that this movie's cg is bad, it did come out in 2014 (But then I would say Transformers 2007), but it's a common tactic for most studios who aren't 100% confident in their cgi

One of the most overlooked scene is the bridge scene. The kid screaming and crying in terror is pure gold. It's the only scene outside of 54 able to capture how terrifying Godzilla would be in real life. I get the chills every time I see. Had Gareth Edwards released the movie like this it would look amazing in IMAXX. It came so close to the atmosphere of 54. The first teaser with Oppenheimer's voice if they can capture THAT overall horror with Gareth's mastery of scale? OMG

I talk about how good the CGI in the film is during my last video, and holy crap does this show that! Been meaning to brighten the image, thanks for getting to that! LOVE the recoloring as well, very subtle but very noticeable! Makes one HELL of a difference!!!

Although I could easily tell what’s going on in the normal dark version, I never noticed some of the small details like at 3:04 you can visibly see blood fly from the MUTO’s neck when Godzilla bites it along with a slight crunch sound. You can also make out some red spots on Godzilla which are likely scratches from the MUTO’s

Now this is what the Blu Ray release should've been, the quality of the current release is equivalent to a bootleg DVD, you can barely see anything that is going on, WB really can do better than that. Your version is much like the Theatrical release, or the non 3d version of the 3d Blu Ray release.

It's really just the blu ray that had the horrible dark transfer. The theatrical version wasn't so dark at all, especially when you compare the Blu Ray version to the VFX shots in the behind the scenes footage and the trailers.

Entirely possible that they had an honest screw-up on transferring and didn't catch it until after the fact. DBS Broly had an FPS transfer issue that added a weird green hue to everything, yet to release a fixed version (though it's not as drastic for that compared to this)

In my personal opinion this movie and Skull islands, cinematography and cgi was the best. It also had the best suspense and visual story. I liked Godzilla Kotm/Gvk but those 2 movies had some stuff that i feel like was too cliché, Hollywood and made it feel too SCP foundation and kinda did this thing that Pacific Rim 2 did were the cgi looked slightly worse and the realism was taken away and the creatures moved too agile. And some of the stuff from this movie and the other movie made it feel too disconnected, especially the technology stuff and all of that. I liked that the humans were just background characters, they didn’t go into that direction were the humans had some weird almost magical connection to the Animals or anything like that. The Visuals and world building in this one and skull island was definitely preferable.

God damn. This makes the new Legendary Godzilla films look so stupid. GvK was fun, but was hard to get behind because it lacked the realism and immensity the 2014 Godzilla had. The Godzilla 2014 seemed more real and immense then the more fictitious depiction of him in the Godzilla king of the monsters movie and Godzilla Vs Kong. Im watching after seeing the new Godzilla Minus One! Incredible movie!

The first part of the film was a build up to the reveal of the muto the next part was a build up to the reveal of godzilla that’s why we don’t see the fight of Honolulu and the next part is the build up to the fight and i’ve got to say that the moment where it’s cut to human during the San Fransisco battle was meh! It’s doens’t make anti sens cause that moment to show us the fight but the fight is pretty damn epic sooo… this movie is amazing
