You have to put human crap, because 90 min, or more, of monsters fighting is not good storytelling, it is a long fight scene, or many smaller ones. @Adrijana Radosevic You didn't mention how the Kaiju have distinct PERSONALITY. Rodan was a slithering snake with no clear allegiance to anyone, Ghidorah was pure evil, Mothra had a soft spot for humanity and peace while Godzilla was a force of nature keeping balance. The designs were amazing and what you would expect in a Godzilla film. Another thing to mention the monsters did have context behind them as the characters stated them as ancient species from a time where alpha hunters dominated the Earth, like so Kong or the Skullcrawlers from Skull island or the MUTOs from the 2014 film. The humans in this movie served as the context for the story while the Kaiju were the real main characters. Trust me watch the film again and see if your opinion changes about it

You do know Joe that in the 2014 Godzilla the final fight (which was 1 hour and 40 minutes in. Not 1 hour and 10 minutes in) was constantly being interrupted by the soldiers. Even THAT FIGHT had a bunch of cutaways. It wasn't as wholesome as you remember it.
@reapercussion11495 жыл бұрын
This movie had less cutaways and when it did had cutaways, they did it cleverly, hell BOTH films had good cutaways that were utilized well. The action here (especially that final battle in Boston) felt more impactful and had a grand scale to it. The final battle from 2014 was just a warm up for this movie and i was satisfied. That final hit on a certain titan near the end definitely tops the MUTO one for me. You guys should know if you've seen it ;)

And I think a lot of the cutaways were important in this movie. I can’t tell you a single plot point from the first movie (did they show the kid from this movie die in that one? I can’t remember him at all and I was so confused lmao) but I can tell you about the ORCA, the oxygen destroyer, the underwater temple nuke, and Millie B-B’s escape to Boston to setup the final fight. However, a lot of them were also completely unimportant as well. I though the whole “let the titans reclaim the world” plot was kind of stupid. Why would you do that? Hell one of the american titles for the second movie featuring Ghidorah was called Godzilla vs Monster Zero. Plus even if you don't even know that basic Godzilla fact the film even explains it telling you that Ghidorah is so feared that Monarch kept him off the books and only gave him the name Monster Zero so that nobody would know. Just because it's been like that doesn't mean it should stay that way, are you going to endear every mistake in this franchise just because it's tradition? It's very simple, if you're going to incessantly cut away to the human characters, then make sure those characters are actually interesting, if they're not interesting, then stop cutting away to the human characters so frequently. The problem with this movie is that the human characters are terrible, AND they take up a large amount of screentime and end up interrupting the fight consistently.
@ImpinAintEazy5 жыл бұрын
@@kumikooumae3328 except that's how a lot of movies work. Remember during the battle at helm's deep in the two towers how they kept cutting away from the fight to the other characters? The human characters aren't interesting, even if that's not what you want to focus on, it is a huge problem for critics since they focus on every single issue, not just the ones we want them to. Watch the movie with the mindset of a critic, AKA having good human characters, good drama, and good fights. It achieves one of those things, but could have easily focused on less characters and focused much more on Godzilla. These movies don't focus entirely on the monsters despite it being what Godzilla fans focus on anyways.

For the Monster Fights, oh don't get me started on that one. It's was very Awesome and the visual (chef kiss) Masterpiece. But if you Making a plot/lore in the Monsterverse, you need to balance it out between Human character and the Kaiju all in this Movie because too much Kaiju or fight on this film will make the plot/lore feel....blend and boring and too much human scenes will make also blend and boring.

Nearly every Godzilla fight in every movie cuts-away. Fights, that typically don't get too crazy. So despite the fact that this movie having 3/4 of its entirety featuring monsters, and awesome down right brawls, you hated the cut-aways? Cut-aways, that at most last 2 minutes? Yeah, no. That's not tough love. That's being spoiled. Especially when at half of this 2 hour film is action packed. It's one thing when a movie that has people fighting monsters that are near human size, to cutaway in such a form. Its another when a movie that features skyscraper level monsters to cutaway to show the humans. Which, for most of this movie are in some way shape or form interacting with the monsters. Giving great tension and scale to being near such titans when they clash. So disagree wholeheartedly there, but whatever. You do you.

Lesson, I love monster battles too but the humans help us to relate to the movie better! Seeing the people we want to see live/die helps to immerse us in to the story! The original 1956 Godzilla didn't show Godzilla that much ether, but it was hugely successful! On the other hand, if the movie had too many fight scenes it would get to monotonous! Plus that had to introduce the monsters who would be fighting Godzilla! I think they struck a fare balance! But that's just my opinion!

I'm going to have to disagree with you on this one joe. You sound like you just want a kaiju monster fighting movie with no humans involved at all. Which does sound nice but it wouldn't be amazing because you need to understand that this is a world where humans actually exist and they need to be there on the movie to experience it, engage on what is going on, and help and do what they can so their world isn't absolutely fucked. Another thing to point out for you joe. You forgot how older monster movies were. Matter of fact the way this new movie is they completely balanced it out the exact same way as the older movies. Alot of the times the fights do cut out to humans reacting and talking at the fight, etc. In the new movie they IMPROVED upon it. Giving the humans an actual chance to engage and react on the experience and everything. Now I will admit I would like some more kaiju fighting in the movie but I still think they did a bang up job and I hope this movie continues to succeed because it was great with what they did.
