And you kinda gotta use a little bit of logic when it comes to the Orca and Ghidorah, because they don't explain it but it makes sense still. If Ghidorah can communicate with the other Titans, then Ghidorah should be able to communicate with Godzilla. The Orca has Godzilla's vocal pattern in it. So if Ghidorah can communicate to Godzilla then that means the Orca should also work on Ghidorah to some extent.

The orca isn’t controlling the monsters, it just speaks to them. If it did control them, Ghidorah wouldn’t have agro the other monsters at all. Also, Ghidorah was called Monster 0 in one of the other movies.

I loved how menacing Ghidorah was. Like the other monsters were blindly fighting and accidentally causing collateral damage and killing thousands, whereas Ghidorah was looking directly at the humans he was trying to kill. Very intimidating, plus the different personalities were brilliant. On a side note, I loved how they utilised his tails as a rattle snake for intimidation.

Joe. The Orca dosent control the titans. Also Joe. They call Ghidorah monster zero because that's what he was referred to in the Japanese films. Also the OST for this film is fucking amazing. Rebirth and Goodbye old friend are arguably the best tracks including the theme from the orginal Godzilla film. (P.S. Why is it that critics seem to never talk about the fucking OST in films? The OST is arguably one of the most important parts of any film. Out of all of the reviews I have seen for Godzilla KOTM, only ONE talked about the OST. I'm sick of film critics seemingly ignoring the OST in films. E.g. The docking scene in intersteller wouldn't of been anywhere near as good if 'No time for caution' wasn't used.) ALSO, Joe fails to mention who this is the first American Godzilla film to use the ORIGINAL GODZILLA THEME. Not only that but I believe it also uses the classic Mothra theme just minus the Vocals. Joe's talking about how the directors and writera don't understand Godzilla and don't care yet they included the orginal Godzilla and Mothra themes which the most likely had to PAY for. Not only that but they included a bunch of references to the orginal films like: Calling Ghidorah monster zero. Having Godzilla fins resemble the orginal more. Having the orginal Godzilla and Mothra themes. Included burning Godzilla. Used the oxygen destroyer which potentially sets up Destroyah

I personally liked the movie. Loved that Mothra got some decent screentime, and Rodan was portrayed just fine for what he is capable of. I'm fine with the amount of monster fighting there was in this movie, and I'm fine with the exposition, as it helps set up the monsterverse in terms of lore, as certain things have obviously changed. Ghidorah's backstory is accurate enough to the original, and the whole "Monster Zero" was also in the originals, so it works. The ending of the movie, where Mothra dies and gives Godzilla some "power", I'm guessing is to heal him and allow him to properly control the meltdown process that was happening. In the original movie where this power was first shown (Godzilla VS Destoroyah), Godzilla needed to have the power absorbed by Godzilla Junior, else he would have destroyed the earth with a giant blast. I am looking forward to Godzilla VS Kong now personally, as after having seen what they can do with the monsters in "Godzilla King of the monsters", I will be looking forward to more Kaiju action with different monsters going at eachothers throats.

-the first movie and this one established that Godzilla feeds off radiation. -the Ken Watanabe scene was awesome because it tied in perfectly to his life's work. The mother states how crazy she sounds. But if you follow her train of thoughts its not too far fetched. She didn't go out and immediately think that she was going to kill off all the humans. She restarted the Orca because in her research she found that humans were the cause for why the monsters came back. The monsters came back to re-balance the world and its shown in the before and after the Kaiju fight in San Francisco. The world needed to heal itself so the mother came to the conclusion that we were killing the Earth and were going to kill the cure the Earth had all along. So she planned to release the mostly benevolent Kaijus. She was just really really wrong about Monster Zero, Ghidorah. Monster Zero is a what Ghidorah was called in the old films too. Also, Godzilla was red because he was in meltdown mode because the nuke was too potent. The music, monster sound effects, and the classic photos were great homages to the original Kaiju films. Lastly Dr. Serizawa as a character was amazing and his sacrifice was really heartfelt and well done.

She wanted to wake them up so that they could help her do two things: purge human beings but not completely make them extinct and repair degraded environment. Together these two will create a balance according to her. So, intentionally killing human beings was part of the plan. But I agree she did not do it right after Andrew died. She implemented the plan 5 years later.

Love your videos Joe and respect your opinion, but I've got to question your statement of being a huge Godzilla fan. Some of your criticism's are basic common knowledge among the fan base. Ghidorah's original name in the Toho films was Monster Zero, Burning Godzilla was an original Toho film thing as well, including the whole meltdown plot. The giant Argos ship was a call back to the Gotengo which was a giant warship in the previous films. Also, the Orca didn't control the kaiju, it attracts them, awakens them, or calms them, Ghidorah was controlling all the other kaiju in the film. The movie definitely had some issues, but a lot of the stuff you didn't like was fan service and Easter eggs that flew right over your heads.

There's 8 minutes of Monster action in 2014. In the final battle they cut away SEVERAL TIMES. 90% of that fight was just Kick-ass running through San Fran. Totally rose tinted glasses. Also, every Godzilla movie cut away. Every one of them did short af fights too. Don't claim to be a fan and just shrug at monster zero, all the references, the "Atlantis" place is also from the lore, they're called MUTOs not Mutons, etc. I get this wasn't the monster movie you wanted, but this was exactly what a Godzilla movie is like. Basically all of your complains of, bad dialogue, the cut always from the Kaijus, these things have happened through out all of the twenty Godzilla Films. Even from 1954, they kept cutting away from Godzilla, which wasn’t really meant about him, it was about the danger of Atomic Bombs. 2. The Orca doesn’t control the Titans, it simply communicates with them. Making it easier for Monarch to communicate with the giant animals. It also can make hem frustrated and irritated if used wrong, which was what we saw a few times. 3.(and this one’s a big one.) King Ghidorah was called “Monster Zero” because it was his original name for Monarch to acknowledge by, until his real name was revealed.......oh also, IT WAS A HUGE EASTER EGG TO THE TOHO SHOWA SERIES!!!!!!!!! And not only that, you forgot Dr. Serizawa’s name?! AND YOU DIDN’T GET THE CALLBACK TO GODZILLA’S BURING FORM?!?! Goddamn!!! For being a Big Godzilla Fan, you easily have a good junk of your knowledge of the damn Lore cut from your frontal lobe when going on your rants. Fucking hell! God, this review was a literal dumpster fire, like literally garbage lit on fire. And you know what? Even after seeing your excitement for Godzilla vs. Kong...... you’re still going to hate it. Agreed, I thought the constant uphill battle of fighting Ghidora was a menacing aspect. Without outside help Godzilla lost every fight with Ghidora. I love Joe’s takes on most stuff but I think he just wants a Godzilla movie with absolutely zero human aspect and focus. There was a lot of monster stuff in this one, I liked it. I wish they would’ve balanced Godzilla and King Ghidora more because in my opinion, Ghidora was the king of the monsters. He beat Godzilla every fight. But I loved the ‘savior losing’ aspect especially in the last fight when Ghidora dropped our boy from the stars and it showed the clouds and skies reshaped by Ghidora. Ghidora had absolute dominion and he overthrew the king. There was no hope. Godzilla lost. I will say I wanted to see more of the other Titans, especially considering we didn’t get to see any of them in Godzilla vs. Kong

Somehow the nuke thing flew over your head? Godzilla represents nuclear fallout and the negative harmful effects. SO, obviously, you can’t kill him with one. They tried it in the 2014 one. But throwing more nukes doesn’t kill Godzilla, I.E. weapons of war can’t be used to defuse the effects of war. It only makes it stronger and worse. He seems Godzilla (nuclear fallout) being stronger than ever and at the end of the movie exploding and destroying EVERYTHING. So, yeah it fits in with the theme perfectly. Fuck man.

You have clearly all 3 of you not paid attention to what they said in the movie. Orca just communicated with the monsters it dosent controll them, they used different frequences to communicate which Mortha responded well to in the begining cause it was combained with Godzilla and Human which in the cave painting humans have fought with Godzilla Mothra vs Ghidorah before. Monster zero is a homage to Ghidorahs name in the classics. All the bases were protected on guard, but this terrorist group coiuld clearly force their way in and when they captured Emma and Madison the guards could have been outside insteed of inside like that sicne that control room didnt really need guards fi nothing could get into the camp to being with. When Godzilla was in the underwater temple cause he was feeding of the Radation for inside the Earth to regenerate, which the nuke was gona be a massive burst of radiation to him. Burning godzilla didnt happen cause of Mothra allowing him to go Thermal nuclear, it was the massive amount of power the nuke Sharizawa set off that overboosted Godzilla. The pulsing is most likely just a wave of attacking Godzilla could use to lighter dispurse the energy insteed of going off in a massive explosion. Mothra died, but she always lays an egg for her Cycle to begin a new. Humans yeah they were poorly writen, we asked for a simpler use of humans insteed of as involving the 2014 was and this is what we got. Madison was aware of what her mother wanted to do in releasing all the kajius one at a time to not cause as much destruction instantaniously. But Ghidorahs frequency could make them all come out of their slumber ruining Dr Russels plan to relese one at the time. Edit: Forgot to add that the reason they didnt have more classic monsters in the end scene is cause they dont have the rights to use them. They had the rights for Godzilla, Rodan, Ghidorah and Mothra.

The best kaiju movies treat the world that the monsters stomp around as a living breathing world, not just a destructible sandbox. People live in Godzilla's world, people die in scores whenever a kaiju takes a stroll, and all those people have lives, families, dreams and goals. A world with monsters is both one of awe and oppressive terror, and a good kaiju movie immerses you into that world, reflects what it is like to be the presence of monsters which regard you as naught more than what an ant is to us. When you take out the human element, and the crucial perspective they provide, a kaiju movie devolves into a brawl of oversized action figures mindlessly whacking each other. This is the problem with many disaster movies as well: they treat people as mere destructible scenery and fail to convey any impact to the event or make it feel alive and real.

Guys. Let's agree that human plot is important BUT, it could be better WITHOUT the broken family plot. The father and daughter, useless (parts where he solved various problems could be given to serizawa) The mother, perhaps you can make her defected monarch. keep her with her original goals, but changes stance when Ghidorah started controlling monsters. Make HER the one activating ORCA in Boston, and still died as consequence. Just like that we can a) show monarch bit more competent (you need your problems solved by some random guy you pick up). b) show Charles Dance's group bit more competent (you let a kid heard your strategy through speakers, sneak through main room casually and steal the most important device easily). c) dedicate more time about the monsters.

Anyone who claims to be a Godzilla fan and yet does this much complaining about the human characters, has clearly never seen any of the previous 34 damn movies, never mind all of the other kaiju movies made over the years. The human element has always the key focus of these movies. Actually look at how much screen time Godzilla has had in his movies over the years; it's not that much. I think a lot of these so called 'fans' are viewing these old films with rose tinted glasses where their memories are focusing on the monster fights and completely forgetting the utterly insane human plots that have dominated this genre since its inception.

Hmmm.... I love to watch your videos but this is just bad. You got many things wrong about the movie. I understand you've just came back from it or something but don't do "spoiler discussions" without properly understanding what's going on in the movie. It's like you missed an entire chunk of it? i usually like and love joe's reactions & reviews. but man does it piss me off when people call themselves Godzilla fans [Not just joe] as if there entitled or they know what there talking about but then not get the simplest of nods to the originals and abilities used by the kaijus. don't get me wrong people calling themselves fans of something even if they barely know it is fine but when people use it as there proving point for why there opinion matters but then lack even the most basics is so frustrating. i have friends who's godzilla experience was one movie being the 2014 film and they even understood some of the nods and references from watching a 15 min lore video on fucking youtube before watching the new film.
