Tachibana was a mechanic for the Kamikaze Suicide Squad. He had been maintaining the flying coffins of his friends who took off and never returned. Although it is not depicted in the movie, I think he must have been very sad. Shikishima was also a member of the suicide squad, but he did not take off. Shikishima tried to detonate himself with Godzilla as atonement for the war, but Tachibana gave him a way to live. Tachibana was finally able to make arrangements for his friends to survive.

The film is called Minus One because post World War II left Japan in ruins. They had to start all over again from ground Zero. Then Godzilla shows up and wrecks even more havoc. Sending them from Zero to Minus One! Even further behind than before. -OG

I'm sure someone has said this already, but -1.0 stands for Japan already being at zero, having lost the war and being at nothing, trying to rebuild after the bombings, and Godzilla coming in to knock them down even lower than what they are, thus the -1.0. Also yes, Godzilla is a metaphor for nuclear weapons, that was the inspiration behind the original film.

After WWII, Japan was at its lowest point, they have nothing, Zero, Godzilla shows up and pushes Japan even lower, Negative one, -1, Minus one, Godzilla MINUS ONE

Oh by the way, the beam that he shoots from his mouth is called his Atomic Breathe 👍 And yes, the original godzilla was a metaphor for all of the nuclear warfare that was happening in japan at that time, since godzilla is basically just a giant radiation monster

The mark on her neck at the hospital is a Godzilla cell. It's probably why she survived the blast! The cell helped to heal her. But to what end? Will she mutate? Are there other victims who similarly contracted the Godzilla cell? I've also heard that the tattoo on her neck is a symbol for Mothra. Perhaps Mothra will be featured in the next movie? 🤔 -OG

@@BrunoBritos There is also a TV Anime Godzilla: Singular Point 13 episodes long, and my personal Favorite is the Heisei Era, which is a timeline of Movies, Starting with the OG 1954 Gojira and then skipping to The Return of Godzilla, through to Godzilla VS. Destroyah, Godzilla 1985 is the Americanization of The Return of Godzilla.

I enjoyed the movie, but - like most kaiju films - it dragged during the human storyline. Though I do love the charm of the old 'suitmation' films, the CG makes it possible for Godzilla's actions to be so much more dynamic, it's like he's been rejuvenated.

Nooooo way. This is the ONLY godzilla movie I cared more about the humans then Godzilla. Even in the original I was rooting for godzilla to kill as a kid. This is the first movie where I wanted Godzilla to die

I think the human story line executed really well compared to other 2000s Gojira Films out there. Clearly better than Godzilla 2014, Shin, Trilogy, Ultima, KOTM, GvK and even GxK:NE in a ways. It isn’t one directional and you attach to these characters and have a feelings for them. You don’t have this feeling much in these films. They did the human side really well despite Goji appears very few in the movie he does create huge impact on every appearance.
