I agree that Godzilla vs Mecha edges out SOS. Particularly because SOS is a little overly dramatic. Also I know for these two movies Godzilla is supposed to be the antagonist but I just enjoy seeing Godzilla and Mothra fight each other anymore. Still overall I enjoy this one. And oh boy Final Wars! It is interesting to say the least

Very strong 6/10 Pros Connection to the original mothra Some of the best action scenes Great ending Great soundtrack Mothra design Cons Pacing issues Barely focuses on the interesting plot Useless mothra larva Takes away the best character from Godzilla against Mechagodzilla

I agree. Godzilla Against Mechagodzilla is better of the two. Tokyo S.O.S. just feels like they threw it together to finish the story; kind of like when George Lucas did Return of the Jedi. It felt like he was wanting the wrap up the loose ends. Same principal with Tokyo S.O.S.. The Final Wars is good. You will enjoy that one.

Do you think that the Turtle that appears in Godzilla Toyko SOS is a reference to Gamera who is the property of another Japanese film company???
@Weiselberry5 жыл бұрын
No, according to the subtitles, the turtle is Kamoebas, a kaiju that previously appeared in the 1970 movie Space Amoeba. Interesting that they picked that one, though, of all the available options.

The owl count in this video is pretty high at five. This movie is OK, but definitely a drop off from G Against Mecha G. I agree that it's great to have the faerie sisters, Mothra, and the guy from the Mothra movie back. I love the original Mothra theme song as you said. The story falls a little short and you have mostly just a slugfest for the last half of the movie. I would have really liked to see Akame be the star again. Sending your most experienced pilots away just when times are critical and lives of millions hang in the balance is not a great idea - just a contrived plot point to get new actors into the movie. I liked the new female character, but hated the strange ninja, inflated ego pilot. And the male lead wasn't that great either. He didn't stand up for his uncle when they were asking about Mothra. Just tell the truth. He also had problems just answering questions in this - kind of annoying. Yeah, sayonara, hope you won't be in any more G movies. It seems that turning into an adult moth is bad for Mothra. Doesn't she always end up dying? The larvae are much better fighters. Maybe she's better in her own trilogy. Only saw them once and I can't remember much about them except that I think they were a little too kid friendly. Since you like Mothra so much, do you want to see (and maybe review) those movies, Weazy? Oh, and one final thing I wanted to say about this movie is that it was so annoying in the subtitles that they kept putting in "Mechagodzilla" when the actors are clearly saying Kiryu. Why not use that? I think most viewers are clever enough to know who Kiryu is. Yeah, MechaG - got it!

I'm no real Gojira fanatic, but I've always dug Mothra and the fairies, and perhaps that's the way to think of this movie, as a Mothra with a Gojira assist. I'm stunned by Mothra's makeover here, she seems like a cross between a butterfly and -- dare I mention this idea to you, of all people? -- an owl. I'm also not sure I buy the controversy -- I feel, if you can't trust the advice of twin miniature singing fairies, who honestly in this world CAN you trust? (I mean, they can't be wrong about Mothra -- can they?) Glad to hear about the song, which I think of as "Moth-rr-ra, come to save us again, Moth-rr-ra, come to save us again!" I prefer my Gojiras nice and blobby-nosed and prone to leaping laughter, but for want of that, a good appearance from Mothra or Ghidorah or Gamera (and I'd still like to hear you review a Gamera) will do me. Thank you for this pleasant surprise.

These Godzilla movies look so fun to watch. The hard part though is that it reminds me of my best friend...who for some reason became estranged to me. It's been hard for me this past year. We used to watch these movies together when we were younger. Anyway, I also noticed your owls collection! My late great grandmother used to collect owls too! My parents may have some of her owls somewhere. Also, I am noticing birthday cards...is it safe to say you just had a birthday lately? If so, Happy belated birthday! =)

Hello Jerome, just a warm up for Godzilla "Final Wars," (that film is nuts) Anyways there are several new music cues for the film. Main theme is from one of my heroes, Keith Emerson. A viewer found the theme, here's the link kzbin.info/www/bejne/aWLFYaeIhpetsKc See what You think D5

They never come right out and say it, but Chujo is the first gay protagonist in the franchise. It’s hinted at multiple times that he is smitten with Akiba. there are also a few Freudian references, namely Miho Yoshioka’s character stating that Chujo is obsessed with cannons and has no interest in women. She is definitely attracted to him, but she realizes his sexual orientation when he asks her to look after Akiba when they are mobilizing Kiryu. It’s blink and you miss it, but it’s there. I didn’t notice until my second viewing
