A 7.3 Godzilla engine in a Mustang is fucking sick! Replacing the Coyote with it eliminates the one bad thing about a stock 5.0: low end torque. Only problem with the Godzilla is you need an intake to help the top end. Once you get that, you will send full bolt on Coyotes to gapplebee's easily. About the gear lockout at high RPMs, you need a stainless steel clutch line and... A NEW CLUTCH! The number 1 things that ruin these MT-82s is the stock clutch. They absolutely suck at handling high RPMs and will lockout at anything over 6000 RPM, ESPECIALLY on a quick shift. Which sucks because Coyote's are all HP, all their power is high RPM, it feasts all the way up to 7500 RPMs (with boss or 18+ intake). I can shift my dad's '14 5.0 with the MT-82 (with stock clutch) almost flawlessly, but from time to time it will lockout of 3rd and the clutch pedal will stick to the floor after a quick shift into 2nd. Sometimes it even refuses to go into 4th (very rarely). But yes, those stock clutches suck! Change it out! And do a flywheel, clutch, clutch pressure plate, hydraulic throwout bearing and stainless steel clutch line all at once. You will never have a problem with high RPM lockout again (other then user error lol). Have fun with the build though! I can't wait to see how far this 7.3 comes! Subscribed.

Great to see that you've got this thing all buttoned up and running. I knew that thing was going to be a torque monster. This Godzilla engine reminds me of the old 427 side oilers in a lot of different ways. In an AC Cobra it feels like someone hit you from behind when you're rolling and then hit the throttle. It will break traction in any gear. That thing's nasty, and you've got basically the same thing here with a few more cubes and way better reliability. You get this thing breathing a little better, it's gonna make the NA Coyote builds look silly.
@sategllib21912 жыл бұрын
Not really make the coyote silly, still has it's place. Definitely makes for a track car
@randr102 жыл бұрын
@@sategllib2191 Yeah, I got carried away a little, but I do think for drag racers this thing will be amazing. I've seen a lot of side-by-side dollar-for-dollar builds where the LS and Coyote are built up and the LS seems to always come out on top due to simplicity and inexpensive parts availability. Not that you can't make the power with a 5.0, it's just so expensive to do. This 7.3 is like a big block LS (same basic formula, but bigger displacement), so it should be a monster if the aftermarket picks it up and runs with it, which I think they might given the potential.

@@ag3nto578 all I can say is I got a stock 2011 5.0 and had 5th and 6th grinded out in my Mt 82 @80k miles. Not really what I expect for the amount of money these cars go for. Note this was bought used at around (60k miles) but that shouldn't mean my transmission can't even make it to 100k miles on one tranny.
@ag3nto5783 жыл бұрын
@@picolasstrange8008 Still probably the fault of the flywheel. I thought mine was broke how much the center is allowed to move. Previous owner of your car was prob a monster on high rpm shifts. The lock out is real and not the trans fault. Clutch stays engaged while you are trying to shift. Or they lugged the high gears alot.

I really hope an intake manifold and a final tune makes a huge change. Those are horrible numbers. Yes it makes good power low, but that's only good from a dig with an auto trans.

Great update- I'm interested in the fact that the stock trans/clutch/ecu etc. function just fine with it- The power delivery looks like it would be a lot of fun- I have a feeling this big block will take nicely to mods!

Steeda makes some suspension parts / kits to help with traction on the Mustangs. They're called "Stop the Hop" and come in several different varieties depending on what you're wanting to do with the car.

Love the videos can’t wait to see what’s next. Hoping to eventually swap a Godzilla into my 2001 GT but waiting for the aftermarket parts to catch up to be able to do the swap. Gonna settle for a supercharger for now! Best of luck on your future endeavors!

Oh and great job on Godzilla! As for drag racing….practice makes perfect. Also watch what the other guys are doing in the staging lanes, like checking tire pressure, icing the intake or adding ice to the inter cooler (for boosted cars), making sure your time is the correct one to use, etc. Great job on the swap!

Drag racing tires are a must if you want to maximize what your engine is trying to put to the ground, it's like wearing the right shoe for the occasion. You wouldn't go playing basketball while wearing hiking shoes

You should probably baby the 7.3 until you pass it's work in stage. Might be wrong but pretty sure you can mess up the engine if you don't.
