Personally, i like the human aspect mostly for first part of the monsterverse. It give the horror of the monster and the introduction to the new era of the world. But for the monster aspect, i get it why it time for the monster point of view as the story has been introduced and now the whole series can now have fun with their big buddy.

It only took 5 films to get there, but who knew that creating one of if not the best Monsterverse movie yet only required putting the kaiju front and center for once? Plus, even when the humans are onscreen, they at least add more lore and worldbuilding that gives more context for Kong’s (and partially Godzilla’s) plots involving Hollow Earth and Skar King rather than derailing it. You can tell that Wingard is a huge can of the classic Gojira films (especially the Showa era) and I’m more than looking forward to what he has planned for the next film.

Dude the kaiju were front and center to a extent since ksi. Why else do you think g14 had weight for it's 1 fight but the other MV films lacked said weight?. Human POV (essentially all of g14) kaiju have weight. Kaiju POV, kaiju move how they wanna move (which is essentially every fight scene after g14). The humans have been doing nothing but moving the plot along and adding lore for the past 10 years with the MV. Biggest problem with them is that they're constantly underdeveloped with the exception of ksi which balanced the humans and kaiju. Gxk was just the first movie to purposely put the kaiju first and humans second. Meanwhile kotm and gxk unintentionally did so.

⁠​⁠​⁠@@Kaiju-bm4tsBy “kaiju front and center” I obviously mean that the kaiju are the main focus in this movie, which it clearly wasn’t for the previous Monsterverse movie. We saw things from the human’s perspective while Godzilla and/or Kong would just show up to fight monsters or cause havoc, with Godzilla himself not even showing up in 2014 until 43 minutes into the movie. KOTM introduced a ton of new kaiju, but it still focuses primarily on Maddie and her family and the kaiju are little more than a plot device for a dumb eco-terrorism plot. Even with the importance the kaiju have in the plot for both of these films, at their core they’re still Monarch’s story, not Godzilla/Kong’s since everything is seen and told from their POV. The kaiju having “weight” has nothing to do with the movie being from their POV and just has to do with the direction, since Wingard doesn’t take a more realistic and grounded approach to kaiju action like Edwards did and is instead inspired by the more over-the-top action from the Showa era. Now, compare this to GXK, where it’s specifically written to be Kong’s story and you have several uninterrupted scenes of just focusing on him exploring Hollow Earth and fighting Skar King. The emotional core of the movie is of Kong finding his people and trying to free them from a ruthless tyrant, while the humans are there to give context to this setting and what Kong is dealing with due to there being no organic way to find out on his own. Instead of being a human-centric story involving kaiju, it strikes the right balance between the two, which Kong Skull Island did come closest too, but it still mainly follows the group of soldiers exploring the island while Kong shows up occasionally to protect it.

@@amirgarcia547 The kaiju having weight does have to do with the POV, as it was confirmed by Adam why the kaiju move faster, have less weight and look smaller in regards to their surroundings at points. A grounded setting isn't the only place weight is present. There's many godzilla films from tohk that aren't grounded and godzilla still feels heavy. From our perspective, they move slow. From their own perspective, they move how they wanna move. The only difference gxk does is having the kaiju be front and center story wise, the 3 previous films (most especially kotm and gvk) placed more focused on getting from one action sequence to the next as quickly as possible which gxk also does. Compare that to ksi which balanced it's human stuff and kaiju stuff which in turn, resulted in ksi having possibly having the largest cast of memorable characters in a MV entry that doesn't just come down to a mere 2 or 3 which seems to be the maximum number of likeable characters for each entry before and after ksi. The plot is a bit fast paced yes but there's not alot of cutaways during fight sequences. Clearly ksi to a extent leans more towards the kaiju when it calls for it without forgetting to develop it's characters. Gxk being so kaiju focused is good for the kaiju but leaves the humans underdeveloped and that's the 1 downside of a film like gxk and it's the same flaw that can be found in kotm and gxk. I get what you mean but just saying that the MV has been kaiju focused to a extent since 2017. This is just the first entry to have the kaiju truly carry the story intentionally. By all means, that's not a balance. Pacific rim is a balance, so is vs destoroyah, gmk, heisei gamera (with the exception of g3). This was a kaiju centric story that involves humans. Polar opposite of g14, monarch and skull island. Meanwhile ksi, kotm and gvk (originally) tried to balance the 2 sides with only ksi succeeding in that department

Okay it’s definitely not the best monsterverse films. After a while the whole focusing on kaiju’s is starting to get bland. I mean take this for example, the tension and build up to the fight in 2014 was like NEVER before, and when we finally got it, it was insane and blew us away. But now with the new direction the monsterverse is going, these fights don’t have that level of tension anymore, they aren’t as exciting as they once were since we’re getting fed that same thing all the time. The entire film was literally just a fight scene, I mean seriously every 3 minutes we had giant monsters attacking each other, and then the final battle held NO tension whatsoever because you were already treated to that juicy fight scene an hour and 15 minutes ago. Skar king’s death and the finally battle in general literally gave me no emotion, I wasn’t out of my seat excited, I was just bored and disappointed (not that I really held this movie with any expectations at all, I set them extremely low based off the trailer). I mean take minus one for example, and YES I understand these are 2 completely separate films but just listen for a second, the whole film was based on the humans and once godzilla FINALLY showed up to attack the main cast, I was literally tearing up with excitement and joy, and the final battle held SO Much tension I genuinely was scared for what would happen next. There is such a huge difference in watching something that has been built up for so long compared to something that’s being fed to you constantly. Would you still like the same desert if you had it for breakfast lunch and dinner, or just once a day? It’s just not the same since your tolerance would build up.

Monsterverse movies are the perfect "turn your brain off and enjoy" movie & I love them for it. Modern Japanese Godzilla films have a more serious & grounded story that puts more focus on the human side of things This is what I love about Godzilla, you can mold him to be about anything, from Godzilla being a goofy hero, drop-kicking other giant monsters, to a moving story about Godzilla being someone's symbol of their regrets and traumas. I think the only critique I have for the video is when you go over the immersion. Personally I feel like we got more than enough of that in the previous films and that it would take away from Godzilla x kong to take time away from the monsters and give it to the humans. I feel I have to reiterate, the human perspective doesn't need to be done away with, the human characters are what ground us and give us the sense of scale and power for the kaiju. While having stories and plot beats framed from kaiju point of view would be fun and interesting see more of, I don't think you can really have both points of view. The perspective constantly shifting around like that... it wouldn't work. You can't have your cake and eat it. Also, the issue with the human characters isn't that they are superfluous and don't need to be there, its that they need more development and purpose in the film. More filmmakers and fans saying that human characters are boring and make the movie slow need to watch Godzilla Minus One and Godzilla Against Mechagodzilla. Both movies are about the kaiju, from the human point of view and are about deeplly upset and hurt people overcoming themselves by defeating godzilla. So we don't need more goofy carborad cutouts, we need deeper and empathetic people.

I think a good explanation of the beast glove would be that the kong vet already had many different aids to cure Kong with, and he requested the manufacturers to build the glove with compatibility of his various drugs just in case something like this would happen. As for the glove even existing, I think it makes plenty of sense to have a super glove for Kong. It allows him to potentially defeat Godzilla if he decided to wage war on humanity. And I believe the beast glove is ambidextrous, because if you notice the glove seems like it can transform into various ways, but mainly for left handed use. If only they didn't cancel the powerhouse project it would make perfect sense narratively. 😢

Will you be making a video on Pacific Rim: The Black? Because I personally loved that show and was the reason I got more into PR. I think with the evidence shown that it was likely meant to be longer than the 2 Seasons it got though didn't preform as it should have and got an early ending. Taking the PR story and making it into a half-apocalypse with references to old character like Herc and others was great to see. The show took some creative liberties though I don't see this a bad thing, as I actually think it opened up the universe more rather than tried to turn it into a bogged down mess like the PR sequal that doesn't exist. All of the non verbal communication in this movie was perfect, especially for making the titans feel more like characters. The fact you could still fully grasp what they were talking about without them speaking an actual language is something i dont think any movie has done before (with this level of success at least). And tbh, the goofiness in the human plot and its conveniences kinda helped make this movie more enjoyable for me. They aren't the focus and no one wants them to be, so hand waving stuff so they can have more titan time is better all around. It also reminds me of older sci-fi media, which was all about the unexplainable bs they pulled out of nowhere. also, why does the human death toll subject always pop up like people actually care about that in these movies? like i stated above, humans arent the focus and no one wants them to be, so why should we care how many casualties occur when the big guys fight? Leave that stuff for future seasons of the Monarch show or some other project.

Personally, I think this was the best installment in the franchise, I don’t have any problems with the film like you did, but you still bring up good points. The beast glove healing his wounds is not an issue for me because it’s not meant exclusively for frostbite, I especially don’t have a problem with it already being there. The telepathy thing is no issue for me also because the hollow earth is filled with mystery and strange energy. Plus these things just help the movie move along.

I would honestly love to see the Monsterverse be a Kaiju version of Genndy's Primal. take Kong and Suko's moments together and extend it to an entire movie. when Kong found the other kongs and also met Scar King, we didn't need any dialog. we could clearly see the misery of the other kongs under Scar's rule, and that Scar was a complete asshole through actions and facial expressions. the monsters themselves are written much better than the humans. I love that Godzilla is written as a solitary king who demands absolute obedience and doesn't take No from anyone. he's as fierce as they come and will gladly fight anyone, regardless of how big and scary you are. Rodan is basically his own version of StarScream from Transformers. arrogant, aims to have power, but is quick to back down if he's up against someone way stronger than him. you shouldn't expect him to be above plotting against you. Ghidora having personalities for each head is something you'd think TOHO would have done by now. Ichi being the smartest and most calm, Ni being the most aggressive... and then Kevin... his mother dropped him on his head as a baby one too many times... And the greatest monster of them all... DOUG! Either Kong made him a pet or he regularly raids Kong's home to steal his food and Kong just can't find a good way to keep him out. he'll gladly steal Kong's food while he watches no less. little bastard. Lol If we got a movie that cut out the human characters entirely, I honestly wouldn't give a damn. these monsters can carry the film by themselves. but, that's just my opinion.

To kinda just go off on what I said on another post lol For me personally I’d give the movie a 6/10. I still enjoyed it and the fights were pretty cool to watch but it feels like it takes the issues of GvK and kinda amplifies them by a ton. Human characters aside from Jia feel like plot devices to push the story forward, the movie is incredibly fast paced so there isn’t a lot of time to savor a lot of moments, vfx wise while not terrible feels somewhat like a downgrade to what we got previously, and godzilla doesn’t really get as much development as Kong does in this film. Huge issue is that I think they leaned into their showa roots a little too much in this movie Imao. Imo the whole Showa vibe just doesn’t really work with the MV when u look at how it started vs how it’s going. I don’t mind dumb fun but I think they went a little overboard with this film lol. I think if they leaned into their heisei roots kinda like how Kotm did I think it would’ve been a little better. Overall I still had fun with it but I think it would’ve been better if this was a King Kong movie instead of a crossover film

The showa era started off with a serious, dark and grounded film. The MV also started with a serious, dark and grounded film. The showa era vibe does work if that's how both universes started and thus expanded by not being bounded by "realism" after a certain point. Heisei era was never grounded, it was sort of futuristic from the start and got more futuristic later on. Even kotm was a modernized showa flick. Especially in terms of tone. The heisei era in terms of tone even started out serious but quickly became sort of campy and ended serious. Even godzilla 98 despite not being serious, was still grounded and what followed it? A showa era style TV series that took itself seriously at times while still being campy and less grounded.

I liked 2014 a lot. It had a seriousness to it that I enjoyed. Especially watching it in theatres and hearing the noises of the Muto's and Godzilla. The slow creep up to Godzilla was also amazing. It was a sin we only got like 20-minutes of Bryan Cranston. But the future titles in the multiverse I never enjoyed anywhere as much. They started getting more cartoonish. And I get that the original Godzilla was not this serious masterpiece. But a very different type of movie. I wouldn't really mind, if it was a different iteration of Godzilla. But going from the serious tone of 2014 and t he weird tone of GXK is weird. The thing that really drew me out of the future iterations was the emphasis on the humans. Where 2014 felt like it used the humans as a catalyst to bring the camera along with the monster fights. The future iterations tended to focus more on the human drama. I still can not stand the kid actors. Only real complain I actually have though is the inconsistency on the size of Godzilla and Kong.
