How is Ninja Turtles so consistently good? Every single iteration does something really cool and innovative. I’ve never seen another franchise this successful with experimentation. When any other franchise tries to do what TMNT does, it blows up in their faces. But Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles who fight aliens, evil ninjas, and other animal mutants, is just crazy enough of an idea to work.

Something I want to bring up with Turtles Forever and its handling of the 1987 Turtles. I genuinely think it would’ve been more fun if the 1987 Turtles had a “Seen it All” attitude. Like they’re intrigued by the differences in the 2003 universe, maybe mention to the 2003 Splinter how their Splinter is Hamato Yoshi himself, maybe if they’re allowed to use the term, they could casually tell the Mirage Turtles about 2003 Shredder being a war criminal from space, bring up to the 2003 Turtles that their well known in their world, maybe reference the time they had bad publicity and how that put a damper on the mood that time, etc. Other than that, I can’t help but imagine the Mutant Mayhem Turtles would take note of the other Turtles’ voice like pointing out the 2003 Turtles sound like they’re from a 4Kids dub or note that 2012 Mikey sounds like Beast Boy.

1:31:00 I always had that complain with the movie, but I just realized that if Sacks was the Shredder, like in the first script, he would've killed Splinter's owner (April's dad), giving us a weird kind of adaptation of their relationship in the original comic.
@whichcache251729 күн бұрын
Plus, since they wouldn’t need to write around The Splinter being played (voiced) by another actor entirely, the conflict of the movie would’ve centered itself squarely on Sacks instead of saddling him with that weird intermediary role. Still, I’ve gotta wonder if The Blue Door would’ve had a better “Shredder”.

A Couple fun facts about the third movie and its costume/effects producers: - They didn't want to usurp the Hensons and actually admired their work, but were hired anyway because the producers wanted them and were sick of how the Henson animatronics were breaking and the family's issue with the "In Memory fo Jim Henson" credit in the second film. - These are the same guys who did the seminal 80s robot comedy Short Circuit, and helped out with movies like Stuart Little and the 1988 remake of The Blob. While company founder Eric Allard (yes, the name All Effects partially derives from his name) worked on the first Spy Kids movie, Happytime Murders and the 1984 Ghostbusters; as per his resumes on both All Effects' archived website and his IMDb. - As per said archived resume, they also made that slime fountain that stood outside Nickeloedon studios. - Both a behind-the-scenes test of the animatronic heads, and a picture of its underlying mechanics can be found online (the former on KZbin, in fact). So if you always wanted a new nightmare in your lives, there you go.

Batman vs TMNT is incredible it'd be great if the Turtles could work with Marvel as the Turtles have the same origin story as DareDevil and are in New York. Technically there are 5 Turtles shows with Next Mutation but we don't talk about Next Mutation

Just so you know, the reason that Kino is here instead of Casey is that the ratings of the first movie were very bad because how dark and gritty it was so when they went for the more More lighthearted vibe they had to replace Casey because he was “violent”

I have an issue with the first live action movie that no one else ever seems to bring up: the Turtles never really get a good heroic win. They beat up a few goons, sure, but then Splinter comes in and finishes the Shredder. Freaking Casey got a better climax against Shredder's second in command.

1:52:11 Gotta say I still disagree with how you see Leonardo in the 2003 show, specifically how you said he didn’t socialize well with his brothers and mostly barked orders. There are an abundant amount of instances where Leo has fun banter with his brothers, each of them in fact. One of my favorite instances was when Leo pulled a little prank on Mikey by making him watch over a land mine while “going off to get lunch” with Raph and Donnie. The time Leo really started to get into the territory of only barking orders was during a character arc deliberately made FOR him, and they dedicated a whole part of a season to that. I imagine a counter point would be that Leo doesn’t lean super heavy into or get involved with a goofy ongoing gag, but I think that’s fine with making him the most well-rounded brother. Leo’s got enough of that casual feel that he can gel really well with everyone. Sure he won’t understand it beneath a surface level, but Leo at least makes himself a pleasant leader to hang around with.

My favorites are: TMNT 1990 and 2007 (it was almost a masterpiece, but the ending ruined it for me - I thought turtles are gonna fight 4 giant bosses as a team each representing themselves, and snowing that being a team means knowing pros and cons to each other which will be a total 180° to the begging of the movie when they were all shattered to different places and 180° of the first construction fight. But instead they just defeat some random villains and this knight is somehow on their side, and they doesn't learn anything in the end🙄)

growing up i had a vhs of the show that was basically like a dragonball super movie. It gave you all the "important" story beats from the shows arc and made it about an 1:45 run time. I always thought the costumes were better than III and i thought it was wacky and silly. Getting older and reading the original run of the comics made me see how much weve missed the true essence of the turtles in film and tv but i will disagree with you on one small(albeit silly) point. Mikey saying stay off drugs and fight the establishment makes sense. Hes a ninja so having a clear mind to fight your enemy is necessary for victory. The turtles live outside of society and fight threats to their neighborhood, they are literal libertarians. They have moments where they want to be left alone and moments where they want to be included in society but they exist outside of the established stream of corporate capitalism and provide for the people around them when needed. I cant believe i just made that argument because it is so silly and wacky but i think it truly fits perfectly into their characters. Cowabunga dudes🤙🏼
