Pro tip if ordering from ebay. Check the location of the item. If it says china, 99% chance its a knock off.

There is a greater chance its original if its coming from Japan. But you can never know for sure. If its decently priced ($60-$70) chances are its not real.

Hey man. I bought the red varient and the packaging seemed legit. The number was engraved and no weird baggy on the fig. The actual fig im not sure about. The tounge on mine is removable and also the knees seem a bit wobbly. I got this at a comic shop for 130$ so im curious bod its legit or not

I was considering buying a Venom Snake bootleg version (because in Colombia it's so hard to find), but the painting it's so different, specially on the face. It loses something, but at the end of the day It's not a bad copy.

Adrian could you make a video showing the difference between DC fights and Marvel fights?. One thing I notice is Marvel puts way too many cuts in its fight scenes. Like Wonder Woman versus the German soldiers in that house I counted 12 cuts when Bucky fights some of the Avengers in Civil War 34 cuts in a very short period of time. make it much harder to analyze the fight scenes

It's either the KO from china or the defect from the actual manufacturer. If planning to buy cheap then you better hope its at the very least the defect. I've seen some KOs come out surprisingly well though.

Good comparison. The newer bootlegs don't bring the triangular logo too, so you actually got a old one. The ones with masks and armors normally are not that far of on replicating the originals, the ones with human faces normally are wort as they have hard time painting detailed faces.

bro, you know you can get legit ones for a decent price ($50-$75) on ebay right? just make sure the pictures are taken by the seller and not promotional images from Square Enix. Also, check where the seller is based, if they are based in the China then that's your first sign. Sadly, I'm pretty sure the first one I ordered (Thor) was the Chinese version and will take over a MONTH to get here (The others I ordered were from US).

That's the thing though. In that price range, those aren't legit. There are several "authentic" ones floating around on ebay, from places other than China, that are knock offs, the seller just doesn't know it.

the Gamestop I frequent had a Black Panther PAK for $60. From what I could tell, it was legit (no weird plastic wrapping, colors on box were bright and vivid, Square Enix logo, etc.) Sometimes these retailer just don't realize how valuable these things really are.

PO-ed Aranea and hoping to get the new Lightning. To be honest, I wanted to quit buying PAK and stick to Figma and Figuarts simply because I couldn't keep up with PAK's ridiculous prices. My last PAK is Lightning from Lightning Returns. It's a great representation of the character and it is reasonably priced back then. Unfortunately the figure suffers from a terrible manufacturing defect. You see, my copy of the figure is missing a pair of straps underneath the right knee. I have actually emailed Squenix many times before but received no response. This is pretty much why I wanted to quit buying PAK. That was until Squenix announced Aranea. I was determined to make Aranea as a one time only, but then Squenix decided to announce Lightning (under the Dissidia Final Fantasy title). Regarding the KOs, there are reasons why some (if not most) people prefer it over the original. One is obviously the price. Two is actually availability. You see, Squenix never re-release their PAK after it was sold out. Companies like Bandai and Good Smile Company on the other hand do actually re-release some of their products based on popularity and demands.

Sorry to hear that. I buy Square Enix figures mainly for their Metal Gear figures, I didn't know that some of them had defects. Venom was a one time exception because I just happened to come across it and it was a new design I hadn't seen before that I enjoyed. Most Venom toys have him with a giant tongue and an incredibly deformed body. This one kept him "realistic" with human proportions and an above average tongue. The eyes look awesome as well. I can see the reason for the KO's, but I just can't see why SE would choose to allow it to keep happening. Thanks for commenting!

Thanks! I would, but like you pointed out, his fighting screen time is minimal and his scenes are disguised with shaky came and rapid fire editing, making it even more difficult to decipher what's going on.

sure there is a lucrative market for knock-offs - I got a KO Sparta Batman just a week ago. Deliberately, tho :D As for the quality, your mileage may vary - the differences are mostly in the paint. My batman has sort of 'battle tested' cape, while the OG has very intense red color. In the end you save a hundred bucks, so its worth it. Rex - how much is the shipping from states to china? approx?

I want to order a Cyborg Ninja Mgs1 Square Enix Play Arts Kai and I am torn as to how can I know if the figure is authentic or not because the price is too high. So I ask for photos, one of the photos, show an 8 digit number "engraved" on the paper, is that a good sign or even this can be fake. Man if you have an email, I would really like to send you the photos to tell me your opinion because this is a lot of money for me and on the other hand the Cyborg Ninja is one of my favorite (anti-)heroes of all time, so I want the original, but I will be devastated if I get a bootleg one and pay my hardearned (and saved money) for an imitation. So I just took out my Cyborg Ninja Box and it looks like you are dealing with an authentic cyborg ninja. The practically transparent serial code at the bottom (the one I mention in my Venom video) matches the serial code I have and the pictures look like the toy is the real deal. He's also shipping from Japan (not China where the bootlegs are) and has an 100% seller rating, something that he would not have if he sold bootleg items. I of course cannot 100% without a doubt confirm that this is authentic as the toy is not in front of me, but I'd buy it if I was in the market for an authentic cyborg ninja.

Thank you for your help man. What worries me is that the colors of the figure in the box match more the colors of the bootleg than the original. It seems more orange-red than yellow at the arms and legs. Is it just a reflection, I mean does your figure take that color under certain kind of light. I got it on ebay. Almost all the Play Arts Kai figures on ebay from China are bootlegs. I didn't know at the time of ordering it.
