Spot on, about PHEV's being a stepping stone for people. Porsche have the seeds of the right idea. They'll not be too happy if people persist in mispronouncing their name, though! ;-) I like the format of this channel. Shall pass the word around for you. Thanks James.

Three years ago it was the iMiev (and sister cars from Peugeot and Citroen), LEAF and Model S - choice is better today, as is base price! The real positive is that 2019/20 will see choice more than double, even if most of those vehicles (MissionE, iPace etc) are Tesla S/X prices. At the lower EV price range we'll see the Model 3 finally make it to the UK and the VW I.D should also be in production. Hyundai announced soon after the Ioniq EV launch they are working on a higher range and the 2019 Leaf should see a real world 200 mile range. Rumours are beginning to circulate that the Leaf underpinnings will also be used to make a small CUV.

What you've said about Nissan not being on your radar before the Leaf, same here with my Renault ZOE. Before that I drove Mitsubishis (Colt, Carisma) and then Volvos (S60, V50, V50, S60). Next stop: Tesla Model 3 (hopefully before the end of next year).

What about the 2018 Soul Ev with 30kw battery. Drivers are getting 110 winter range in them atm

The Porche Panamera plugin is attractive even with the short range is for cities that will ban fossil engines.

I would love to buy an old roadster my little baby very few right hand drives ones were made I can't remember but around 50 it was 6 years ago lol there's a few in Australia and Japan but most where left hand drive

I agree that, it’s good to see other types of cars, I should point out that for some Porsche performance will matter, ie handling and feel etc, which isn’t Tesla’s strong point, drag races yes, hill climbs/tracks not so much. In fairness Tesla is thinking more about automations cars than race/sports car handling, which frankly is fair enough.

That experience with the Nissan LEAF is precisely what frightens the frijoles out of traditional automobile manufacturers. They already know that the first thing their Customers want from either plug-in hybrids or short range compliance EVs is *_ALWAYS_* the same: *MORE ALL-ELECTRIC RANGE* every time. For executives who are concerned only about the next quarterly report it seems dangerous, risky, and irresponsible to spend the sort of money all at once to make that transition. They are wrong, of course, but even as market share declines they refuse to make the decision. Something they should have done three years ago, and will be too late to respond to when Tesla Model 3 is everywhere in Europe, Asia, and the United States within three years.

I didn't realise you'd already started your second channel, Lol I thought you were still thinking about it. Twenty miles pure electric range is pathetic, sure, but the elephant in the room here is the impending ban on inner city ICE cars in some (many?) European cities. And for that 20 miles is plenty. You're right. If you get the likes of Porsche a little bit pregnant on EV tech and they can see the sales they'll jump in.
